Please note these are very friendly animals, the sheep are particularly friendly and curious. The sheep roam the property.
The property has two dams, it is well treed with large open parts and has a beautiful view to Mount Macedon. Kangaroos, possums and echidnas also live here.
You are welcome to walk the property and visit the farm animals during your stay (as long as you stay on the outside of paddocks/yards).

This acreage was historically a larger soldiers settlements property comprising a dairy, piggery and wool farming. The quality of the land hasn't changed with most of the region's farmland in use, so this is a cool place to stay in the Macedon Ranges.
Currently home to our family, the property is also visited by many native Australian birdlife species, many marsupials including kangaroos, echidna, possums and even a koala.
With close proximity to coffee shops and local stores of Romsey and Lancefield Providore, you have only a few minutes to drive to stock up on local produce.
Walking the trails around Hanging Rock is a 10-minute drive and Mt Macedon lookout 15min.

There is a local taxi service if guests would like to go out for lunch or dinner with wine and/or cocktails at some of the delicious cafes, restaurants & bars: in Kyneton we love Little Swallow Cafe, Home Grown, Miss M's Lounge, Dhaba, Fook Shing, and Botanik Balcony. In Woodend we love Bangkok House, Tram Place, Las Margaritas, 600 Above, Milko, Fox in the Chamber & Gindu. Kangaroos often bounce through the property at dusk & dawn not to mention stunning sunrises & sunsets. There is a lovely quiet bike ride or walk along our road with minimal traffic.
Campfires are allowed subject to local fire restrictions & must be fully extinguished before you turn in for the night. Please search for the CFA 'Fire Danger Period: Can I or Can't I?' which has all of the appropriate information. Each site has a fire pit which you can use providing it is not a total fire ban. Firewood is available at a cost to you of $50 per wheelbarrow load which will easily cover two nights. This is the main source of fuel for our home so if you burn the wood, we have paid to have split on our property we’ll have to replace it to keep our family warm. You are not permitted to use a chainsaw on our property.
We have 3 separate camping locations on the property. All 3 sites are easily accessible for RVs and camp trailers. We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc. Rubbish cannot be left on our property.

The Korweingy Recreation Reserve is a wonderful country hall and oval. It is 12 minutes from Daylesford and in the heart of the Wombat State Forest. It has a huge hall, kitchen, toilets and showers, and a huge oval. It even has a little lounge area.
The oval is the same dimensions AS THE MCG! The site can accommodate up to 30 campers, and you'll have full use of the hall and all facilities. An amazing place for large groups to hold events, and gatherings and only an hour from Melbourne.
Enjoy all the area has to offer, and come back to your own paradise in the bush. Wake up to roos on the oval and enjoy a barbie with your group.

Pets are welcome. The kangaroos may prove quite enticing for some pets and as such we recommend dogs be kept on their leash. Site 4 has ringlock fencing and farm gates which can be helpful to contain your pets.
Please be aware that the Kyneton Gun Club has their monthly clay target shoot on the 3rd Sunday of each month (2nd Sunday in December) from 11am until 5pm during which time you will hear them clay pigeon shooting.
We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc.

Fantastic experience camping at Hounds on the Vine with our host Chris! We were warmly greeted and set up our caravan in a beautiful spot under a tree with a campfire and chairs provided ready to use.
Spent a lovely afternoon at the winery sampling their fare and delightful wines across the way then a restful evening in our idyllic and peaceful campsite and woke up to the cows having their breakfast in the paddock opposite.
The land was lush and clean, well cut grass, quiet and private environment with toilet facilities available on site.

Lovely grassy campsite (Vineside) with stunning views and a short stroll to the cellar door (and well appointed toilets!). A few cute farm animals in the paddock opposite the campsite. Cellar door was busy but only open on weekends and during the week there were very few people around. Will be making time to visit the cellar door next time! Great location and superb hospitality, can’t wait to stay again!

We chose the bottom paddock as it was closest to the beach although we could see the backyards of houses. The bottom paddock option would be wonderful in Summer for quick beach access for a swim.
The top paddock option would feel more like a ‘farm’ experience with no visible houses.
We were the only ones there in the bottom paddock and had a lovely time as did our pooch Kai. So much room to run about. We loved waking up and seeing your cows. Thanks so for much for hosting us. We would like to come again and would recommend you to others. See you next time.

Immaculately mowed grass with wide open space, serenity deluxe. So peaceful.
Campsites do not get any better than this!
Ali & Damian are excellent hosts and super friendly.
Definitely one of the very best Hipcamps.

We had such an amazing time camping at Hounds Of The Vine. The location is beautiful, the food, wine and hospitality at the cellar door was exceptional and everyone was so welcoming and friendly, including the cows and goats! The location is perfect for exploring the Bellarine peninsula. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant.

An easy 1.5hr drive from Melbourne. This was the perfect little getaway for a few nights.
The flushable toilets and sink to wash your hands was a real little treat.
I went mid week so the cellar door wasn't open but it is open on the weekends so if you're camping on the weekend it's an excellent spot to go and just stumble back the short distance to the camp sites.
Chris was a breeze to deal with.
A lovely little spot and dog friendly, Hank had a great time

Private and vast. It was such an open space with plenty of room for a group. Great scenery with views of the creek and paddock. You’ll be greeted by some lovely highland cows upon arrival too! Highly recommend. We’ll be back for sure.

Group trip
We were at the "By the Creek" Campsite. It was a very enjoyable location. It was peaceful and quiet. We had three RVs and it was a great space. We had a camper trailer, a hybrid off road van and a small caravan. It was great. Belinda was a fine host.
