Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.
The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.
We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need.
The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found.
River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it.
Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.
Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river)
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept with you at all times, no roaming dogs as the road is close by.

The Big Paddock is ideally suited for smaller campervans, tents, swags, off-road caravans, and camper trailers. Here, you can set up anywhere within its bounds; pitching your tent among the trees or along the river is perfect for a truly immersive experience. An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river.
For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket.
Natural Surroundings & Activities:
Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley.
Important Information
No facilities are provided on-site. Guests must bring their own camping toilet (a dumping point is available in Knights Rd, West Ulverstone) and are responsible for all rubbish removal.

Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.
The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.
We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need.
The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found.
River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it.
Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.

Natural Surroundings & Activities:
Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley.

This spot has it all - location, solitude, views and sunsets. An easy drive from Devonport, with Sheffield nearby for food, coffee and water, the 3 days we spent at the Farm were the perfect beginning to our Tasmanian holiday. So much to see in the area, with Cradle mountain the highlight. A pre-dinner walk through Shae and Steve’s block was also beautiful. Thankyou!

A good simple place to camp, safe for kids and dogs. There is only one area at the end of the paddock where the river is easily accessed but this was not an issue for us. Kids had a good time fishing, swimming, playing cricket and riding bikes. No phone reception. We will camp here again

I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 solo nights in the Little Paddock with my dog. Two other young families were also camping in the paddock, but there was plenty of space between us all and plenty of space for children to play and be kids without disturbing each other.
The Paddock is grassy, fenced, and lovely and flat, flanked by bush, river and a quiet dirt road. There is access to the river via the 'beach' near the bridge which is great for a swim, fish or kayak. Lots of bird life, awoke to a family of Kookaburras singing on the first morning which was cool.
Phone reception is poor, but I was able to send/receive text sms to let my partner know I'd got to my camp etc, which was nice. Other than that, you're camping, so switch off!
Plenty of nice shady spots to lull the afternoon away with a book. No firewood, so bring your own. Sam kindly sent me a note when I made the booking to register my little fire with TFS, given it is end of summer and you're in the bush. It was easy to register this 3 days ahead of my stay.
Highly recommend to other solo, couple, dog parents and families.

Campsite 4 at Ladybug Camping was absolutely beautiful. Private, peaceful, creek side site was perfect for our caravan. Walking around looking at the waterfalls was lovely. The host Peter was very friendly and easy to chat to. Wish we had booked more time. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise.

We had this place bookmarked for a while, and finally got some time and what a wonderful set up, we booked the larger site thinking it would be easier with a van but it was very spacious and no issues getting in or out. It was very relaxing to have a drink next to both waterfalls,
We checked out the tent areas and they are amazing! I’d nearly ditch the van and come back with a tent! We arrived late so Peter came down the next morning and explained everything to us and gave directions to the falls!
It was just the weekend that was needed no phone reception and able to fill the cup back up! Wonderful hosts wonderful camp area and we will be back!

Very basic site. Pretty awful TBH!
3 portaloos, no showers, old sink with a hose is all there is for washing dishes.
Over priced IMHO.
Booked for two nights but didn’t stay for second night.
Would not recommend.

Camping was fantastic. The hosts were welcoming and very helpful. Great location for exploring Cradle Mountain.
But we thought the cost of “catch and release” fishing was over the top. We thought we might have a go, but decided against it.
We purchased fire wood, which was very moist and needed to be split into very small pieces to get it to burn. Wouldn’t have had a hope without an axe!

Peaceful and spacious field on the edge of Waratah. Loads of room: even when the nearby RV park was jam packed. Useful small shop on site selling all manner of pepperberry products!

Truly beautiful campsite down by the river, serene spot to really relax. We had a few yellow tail black cockatoos visit, along with some pademelons, great times. The other campsites are amazing as well, definitely stay here if you get the chance!

Group trip
A delightful spot to spend time camping. Peter and Kim greeted us as we were setting up and communication with them was excellent. We enjoyed our stay with friends with so much room! The fire pit on this site was amazing it worked so well.
The wildlife must have been a little shy as we only spotted a few pademelons and a noisy possum in the tree. (Maybe we were to noisy! ;)
It was very private, and we would love to come back soon. Be aware there is no phone signal on this site but there is if you wander further up the driveway.
