Our property is situated on the edge of Maydena, surrounded by nature at its best. Ideally located for the mountain bike adventurer, with the world renowned Maydena Bike Park right on our doorstep. We are also surrounded by both Mt Field and South West National Parks as well as the Styx and Florentine valleys, home to some of Australia's tallest trees. Enjoy any number of activities including bushwalking, trout fishing, kayaking or simply just taking in the stunning views. We are offering self contained caravan accommodation as well as a private camp site for up to 2 vehicles. Campers must have their own amenities if staying at the campground, as there is no shower or toilet facilities. Nearest toilet and dump station is 1km away in the Maydena township. There are only basic supplies to be had at the post office, open Mon to Fri, so get all major supplies before arrival. There is a cafe and restaurant option as well. We are pet friendly however all pets must be kept under control to keep the wildlife safe. Campfires are permitted in our allocated fireplace except on days of total fire ban. Bring your own firewood or prebook a wheelbarrow full. Come and relax after your day of adventuring and enjoy the tranquillity of this ideal location.

Finding us couldn't be easier , just turn right at the welcome to Franklin sign when driving from Huonville. Our gate has two big gum stumps as posts. Early arrival/ caravan drop off possible. please contact us to arrange With big views up the Huon Valley and over the river, this campsite will be sure to provide a great stay. The property is a 5 minute walk into the Historic town of Franklin, where there are are pubs and restaurants. We have 2 flat sites and 3 slight gradient sites, all are far apart. All sites accessible by 2wd depending on weather. There are no facilities, so the site is suitable for self contained campers only, There is dump for toilet water. The site also has drinking water water available free. Due to our children and our Alpaca on site pets must be kept on a leash. Visiting children are welcome to help our kids feed Alpaca, just ask. The property has an orchard of cherry plums, apples, pears, lemons and apricots. There are great walks and sites to see in the local area. It's possible to see Aurora from your campsite, but not guaranteed.

A footbridge across the river leads directly to Mount Field National Park, with the National Park Visitor’s Centre and Cafe, the Charles Marriott Shelter (BBQ facilities and children’s playground), and Russell Falls minutes walk away. The path passes through temperate tree fern rainforest, populated by glow worms. A minimum three nights stay is recommended as this area has so much to offer- Mt Fields walks and water falls- Junee caves- styx valley and land of the Giants- Strathgordon dam-creepy crawly walk-Lake Dobson- Rail track ride- Maydena adventure hub- Tassie bound adventures and you will need time to relax and enjoy Russell Falls cottages and the peaceful river, rain forest and birdlife.

Located in Southport, 15 minutes south of Dover, this is a great place to base yourself and explore the local region and all it has to offer. We are located within walking distance to the beach (250m), and the wharf (500m, and a great spot for fishing), and a short drive to Southport Tavern with take away shop 1.3kms (great meals). There are also plenty of good bush walks in the area - Adamsons Falls, South Cape Track, Duckhole Lake and Hastings Caves. The thermal pools are also close by! Camping here is for self-contained campers only, for those that have their own toilet. All waste is to be taken when you leave. We offer five-level grass sites with easy access. Four have power and water hook-ups and one site with it close by. There is an enclosed campers kitchen, with hot water, gas BBQ, and a wood heater. Longley is 30 minutes from Hobart and can be reached either via the Huon Road, which continues past Kunanyi/Mount Wellington, or via the highway through Kingston.

Weekend Trip to Russell Falls Holiday Cottages

Great location with respect to being at the entrance to Mt Field NP. I was up early, so wandered into Russell Falls with a cup of tea, and didn’t see a soul! Definitely on the expensive side, but taking location into account, fair enough. Bathroom ammenities very spacious, and considering how busy the campsite was over the long weekend, they did a good job keeping them clean. As a tent camper, it was great having the ‘laundry’ set up for washing up, meaning I didn’t have to book water. Food van looked good value, but didn’t get a chance to try it out.

Weekend Trip to Misty mountain homestead

We had a very relaxing long weekend at Grant’s place. The location is great - peaceful, close to everything and beautiful views. There’s plenty of space for people to spread out. Grant is the perfect host - relaxed, friendly, kind and super helpful. As an added bonus we purchased the produce pack with plenty of delicious foods from Grant’s garden. Would highly recommend and definitely on the list to return one day. Thanks Grant!

Weekend Trip to Bushy Mountain Views

What a magical spot and lovely animals galore-both 2 and 4 legged ones. Peta and Rory have a lovely farm/camp in an idyllic mountain spot, with friendly farm animals, birds galore and nightly woodland creatures. The hosts are outgoing, friendly and energetic, making us instantly feel at home. The welcome included Peta's guided drive up the mountain, with amazing views of the valley. We feel honored to have shared this space with such inspiring people. Peta and Rory, we wish you every success with your plans and hope to return to visit soon! Maree and Andrew both came to see us as we settled in, and were really welcoming. Maree has a book with local walks and restaurant menus. Their new gravel pad is flat and there are benches, a table with an umbrella, and a hammock. They even found us a replacement bolt for one we were missing!

Darren, a kind and welcoming host, provided excellent recommendations for activities, as well as help with the best set up for our van. The site was easy to get to, some lovely shade, with water near by, and despite being close to the road, it felt private and serene. Daily eagle sightings and the aurora australis graced the night sky for a few nights as well.

Lovely hosts, met us on arrival and gave us a run through on spots to camp at. Got a bit of background on their farm and the berries they grow, very friendly and helpful. Depending on where you camp it's a short stroll to access the creek which is great for kayaking all the way to the beach. Quiet and peaceful, hosts were available for any assistance we needed.

We stayed here for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The sites were large with pristine garden areas and the bathrooms were new and clean. This Hipcamp is right on the river and immediately next door to Russell Falls. We walked there to look for glow worms as it got dark. There was a food truck at the front and firepits provided throughout the park. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

This place is a perfect choice if you’re looking for peace, nature, and comfort at the same time. The area is very quiet and secluded, yet you still have mobile coverage, which is always a bonus when you want to disconnect… but not completely. The hosts are extremely hospitable and welcoming. They offer plenty of helpful advice about things to do in the surrounding area and are always ready to help with whatever you might need. The space is exclusively yours and completely flat, which makes it very convenient and easy to use. At night, the natural setting really comes alive, and it’s common to spot wildlife such as pademelons and wallabies wandering around.
