A great base to visit the Florentine valley, Mt Field and many other nearby attractions. The tranquillity and privacy will leave you a wonderful feeling of peace.
This is a wonderful place to unwind, take a swim with your dog and just hang out with the very special access to the lagoon.
There are no amenities here, campers must be self contained and leave no trace.
One vehicle per site, only one family group per site! If you have a family or group with more vehicles please book accordingly. I will not accept bookings that do not follow these guidelines.

Our property is situated on the edge of Maydena, surrounded by nature at its best.
Ideally located for the mountain bike adventurer, with the world renowned Maydena Bike Park right on our doorstep.
We are also surrounded by both Mt Field and South West National Parks as well as the Styx and Florentine valleys, home to some of Australia's tallest trees. Enjoy any number of activities including bushwalking, trout fishing, kayaking or simply just taking in the stunning views.
We are offering self contained caravan accommodation as well as a private camp site for up to 2 vehicles. Campers must have their own amenities if staying at the campground, as there is no shower or toilet facilities. Nearest toilet and dump station is 1km away in the Maydena township. There are only basic supplies to be had at the post office, open Mon to Fri, so get all major supplies before arrival. There is a cafe and restaurant option as well.
We are pet friendly however all pets must be kept under control to keep the wildlife safe.
Campfires are permitted in our allocated fireplace except on days of total fire ban. Bring your own firewood or prebook a wheelbarrow full.

A footbridge across the river leads directly to Mount Field National Park, with the National Park Visitor’s Centre and Cafe, the Charles Marriott Shelter (BBQ facilities and children’s playground), and Russell Falls minutes walk away. The path passes through temperate tree fern rainforest, populated by glow worms. A minimum three nights stay is recommended as this area has so much to offer- Mt Fields walks and water falls- Junee caves- styx valley and land of the Giants- Strathgordon dam-creepy crawly walk-Lake Dobson- Rail track ride- Maydena adventure hub- Tassie bound adventures and you will need time to relax and enjoy Russell Falls cottages and the peaceful river, rain forest and birdlife.

Great location with respect to being at the entrance to Mt Field NP. I was up early, so wandered into Russell Falls with a cup of tea, and didn’t see a soul!
Definitely on the expensive side, but taking location into account, fair enough.
Bathroom ammenities very spacious, and considering how busy the campsite was over the long weekend, they did a good job keeping them clean.
As a tent camper, it was great having the ‘laundry’ set up for washing up, meaning I didn’t have to book water.
Food van looked good value, but didn’t get a chance to try it out.

One of the best places I’ve stayed at in Tasmania so far,👍🏻. Well priced, coffee cart, a toilet /shower facilities just great. Nice open lawn area for games, very large site areas on the river. Can’t fault it.

Maree and Andrew both came to see us as we settled in, and were really welcoming. Maree has a book with local walks and restaurant menus. Their new gravel pad is flat and there are benches, a table with an umbrella, and a hammock. They even found us a replacement bolt for one we were missing!

We stayed here for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The sites were large with pristine garden areas and the bathrooms were new and clean. This Hipcamp is right on the river and immediately next door to Russell Falls. We walked there to look for glow worms as it got dark. There was a food truck at the front and firepits provided throughout the park. Highly recommended and will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Nature's Edge
This place is a perfect choice if you’re looking for peace, nature, and comfort at the same time. The area is very quiet and secluded, yet you still have mobile coverage, which is always a bonus when you want to disconnect… but not completely.
The hosts are extremely hospitable and welcoming. They offer plenty of helpful advice about things to do in the surrounding area and are always ready to help with whatever you might need.
The space is exclusively yours and completely flat, which makes it very convenient and easy to use. At night, the natural setting really comes alive, and it’s common to spot wildlife such as pademelons and wallabies wandering around.

The positives;
Location is great and only a short walk from the national park and cafe. There’s a good food trailer on-site also open to 8pm serving coffee, pies and chips etc. toilet and shower facilities almost brand new and free and the managers were helpful on check-in. Site is clean and well maintained.
The negatives;
We booked a site that indicated power was available however there were only two power outlets on site located next to the toilet/shower block and impossible to connect to. Other sites closer were touted as power being provided, however again there’s only two power outlets and several extension cords were needed to access power for those that did. The description of power being available at the site we booked was incorrect and inaccurate. Also whilst it was indicated our dog was allowed to stay on site, there’s a discrepancy between booking sites as the direct booking site indicates no pets allowed (as informed by the people occupying the site next to us).

Location is beautiful - quite, in nature, not crowded. The national park and it's hikes are within 5-15mins of drive.
Facilities are excellent - warm showers, huge common bathroom/toilets, kitchen with fridge, 2 big BBQs for common use and it was never busy.
Service is phenomenal - Dan and Kay were amazing. They were helpful in relocating us when our Tesla wouldn't charge, lend us some pillows, and were just super nice in everyway.
We were booked to stay for 2 of the 5 nights in Tasmania and ended up extending the stay for the entire time. It was that good!

The campsite was great (better than it looks in the photos) and very close to the river. A water tap and camping tables with some shade were near the sites. The toilets were premium quality, very clean, and a great size. The campgrounds are within walking distance of the national park, which makes it easy to walk a different trek every day. I highly recommend it.

We loved staying at Russell Falls camp grounds. The toilets were clean, there way plenty of potable water sources and it was an amazing location! The staff were warm and welcoming and the camping spots are spacious, perfect for tent camping or RV camping! Would definitely come back.
