Moogerah Lakeside Bush Retreat is a small family owned and operated campground on the shores of Beautiful lake Moogerah in the heart of the Scenic Rim, SEQLD.
We are conveniently located only 2km from the Cunningham Hwy and are set in a quiet bush location surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Scenic Rim. We have a range of accommodation including powered and unpowered camp sites, group camp areas, bunk style cabins and a fully self-contained cabin.
There is never a shortage of things to do, you can take a canoe or boat out for a cruise on the lake or try your luck at some fishing. Moogerah is well known for its large Bass & Yellow belly. There is a good bushwalk at the property that takes you out to Striker point and into the gorge waterfall with spectacular views along the way. If you have a 4wd you can take a short drive up to Spicers Gap National Park. Here there is a short walk out to the Governors Chair lookout with spectacular views of the Fassifern Valley and beyond.
We currently don't have a boat ramp however once you have launched your boat at the public boat ramp we have a nice bay in front of the campground where you can anchor your boat.

We now have several secluded bush camp sites as alternatives to our more 'civilised' sites. They have no facilities apart from the site so you must be entirely self-sufficient. But all are single sites well away from others.
We invite you to come and share our property, soak up the tranquility of our quiet valley and enjoy feeling at home in nature. And your dog is welcome too (under control please because we value our wildlife, and no more than 2 dogs per couple or family group)!
The land is nearly 200 Ha in the western foothills of the Dividing Range, with the usually-flowing North Branch Creek being a green haven supporting lots of wildlife. It also includes the secluded back valley of Hann Creek to which you can walk, cycle or ride, with many tracks of lengths up to 3 km. The land is mostly open forest land with some cleared areas from its dairy-farming history, and many gullies with thicker vegetation. The property is mostly now dedicated to nature conservation and the recovery of its more natural state.
It is a Nature Refuge under Qld legislation with special emphasis on recognising that the land is Githabul country, honouring local Githabul people now, sharing it with them and others, plus preserving species of plants and animals with known relevance to their former lifestyles. The name Nyalar Mirungan-ah means 'Old Women's Tears' in Githabul, and recognises that they cry because the land was taken from them and because it has not been looked after well by European people. We are now trying to care for it well, and to allow the original ecosystems to return, by lighter grazing, soil recovery and using traditional Aboriginal burning knowledge.
And we welcome dogs as long as they don't disturb our wildlife. Shandy, our own dog, is very welcoming to guests and might drop in to your camp for a visit.

She loves pats, runs and a brush. She is super gentle.
Sometimes the horses are at nearby agistment so, ask if the horses cam be here for your visit.
Baby animals are seasonal.
There are a couple of small playgrounds, clean double flushing toilets, picnic tables, gas bbq and chairs for your convenience and a nice above ground pool to stay cool in.
We have firewood for sale, and I make a barrista coffee if your a coffee lover, like myself.
Bring some cash for firewood, coffee and other bits and pieces. There's a kids surprise cupboard, with toys to borrow while your staying here.
The $45 camp fee pays for 2 adults and 1 child. Just message me about extra guests as hipcamp adding extras doesn't work properly. You can pay by cash or transfer on arrival if necessary.
Extra adults campers I will discount to $15 instead of $20 adults and $5 for kids.
We also offer day visits for $5 per person.
Plenty of room for caravans, buses and horse floats. I have a round yard and horse yards and horses are $10 per horse/night to cover water costs. BYO hay.
Wivenhoe Dam (photo of big water mass) , Atkinson Dam and the Brisbane river are all close by. The famous rail trail that a lot of horse riders and cyclists enjoy is just a klm down the road. (keep an eye out for koalas)

We are delighted to share our property with those that appreciate nature and want to take some time out amongst the gum trees. We are on a koala and wildlife corridor so respect for our wildlife as well as our domestic livestock is essential.
We are conveniently located just off the Warrego Highway but once you set up camp, you will feel miles away from anywhere.
Relax at camp or wander down to the creek to swim, fish or kayak (if the seasons are favourable); birdwatch, hike or mountain bike along the ridge; wander our flower field (seasonal picking available at additional cost); visit with the cattle and miniature ponies; stargaze and enjoy a camp fire (if there are no fire bans).
If you want to explore the region, we are only 18klms from Toowoomba or Gatton and you can slip up Springbluff to easily access Highfields/Crows Nest area.
Plenty of space to choose your camp, with very limited numbers accepted. Potable water available but Council requirements mean you must be fully self contained. Nearest dump point will be Gatton Showgrounds.
The criticism of our space by some campers has been the nearby railway line. We have become immune to it but for some the passing coal trains is annoying. They are sporadiac - sometimes frequent, other times not. If you don't like trains, perhaps Karinya is not for you :(

The land is nearly 200 Ha in the western foothills of the Dividing Range, with the usually-flowing North Branch Creek being a green haven supporting lots of wildlife. It also includes the secluded back valley of Hann Creek to which you can walk, cycle or ride, with many tracks of lengths up to 3 km. The land is mostly open forest land with some cleared areas from its dairy-farming history, and many gullies with thicker vegetation. The property is mostly now dedicated to nature conservation and the recovery of its more natural state.
It is a Nature Refuge under Qld legislation with special emphasis on recognising that the land is Githabul country, honouring local Githabul people now, sharing it with them and others, plus preserving species of plants and animals with known relevance to their former lifestyles. The name Nyalar Mirungan-ah means 'Old Women's Tears' in Githabul, and recognises that they cry because the land was taken from them and because it has not been looked after well by European people. We are now trying to care for it well, and to allow the original ecosystems to return, by lighter grazing, soil recovery and using traditional Aboriginal burning knowledge.
And we welcome dogs as long as they don't disturb our wildlife. Shandy, our own dog, is very welcoming to guests and might drop in to your camp for a visit.

Bring some cash for firewood, coffee and other bits and pieces. There's a kids surprise cupboard, with toys to borrow while your staying here.
The $45 camp fee pays for 2 adults and 1 child. Just message me about extra guests as hipcamp adding extras doesn't work properly. You can pay by cash or transfer on arrival if necessary.
Extra adults campers I will discount to $15 instead of $20 adults and $5 for kids.
We also offer day visits for $5 per person.
Plenty of room for caravans, buses and horse floats. I have a round yard and horse yards and horses are $10 per horse/night to cover water costs. BYO hay.
Wivenhoe Dam (photo of big water mass) , Atkinson Dam and the Brisbane river are all close by. The famous rail trail that a lot of horse riders and cyclists enjoy is just a klm down the road. (keep an eye out for koalas)

We are conveniently located just off the Warrego Highway but once you set up camp, you will feel miles away from anywhere.
Relax at camp or wander down to the creek to swim, fish or kayak (if the seasons are favourable); birdwatch, hike or mountain bike along the ridge; wander our flower field (seasonal picking available at additional cost); visit with the cattle and miniature ponies; stargaze and enjoy a camp fire (if there are no fire bans).
If you want to explore the region, we are only 18klms from Toowoomba or Gatton and you can slip up Springbluff to easily access Highfields/Crows Nest area.
Plenty of space to choose your camp, with very limited numbers accepted. Potable water available but Council requirements mean you must be fully self contained. Nearest dump point will be Gatton Showgrounds.
The criticism of our space by some campers has been the nearby railway line. We have become immune to it but for some the passing coal trains is annoying. They are sporadiac - sometimes frequent, other times not. If you don't like trains, perhaps Karinya is not for you :(

The Chookhouse is situated approximately 20 minutes south of Toowoomba, 10mins from Drayton where there is a small shopping complex.
Please note that there are other dogs and animals in the area.
We also have loud grain trains that pass by throughout the day and night.
When you are travelling on Shepperd Road look for our "Chookhouse Farm" sign and a chook mailbox, that is the driveway you need to take. Drive up to the sign and call number on sign. Please wait for staff member to come out and greet you in your car.

Top Paddock power, Top Paddock powered and Paddock Camp unpowered we have gas camp style showers (preset temperature for the safety of children).
THERES 2 PIT SHOWERS, HOWEVER NOT ALWAYS WORKING.
There are also 3 x BUSH/PIT toilets in the camp areas.
In each camp area we have 3 x rubbish bins.
Plenty of room for self-contained caravans/motorhomes and places to pitch a tent or camper.
National Parks, walking trails, Wineries, Gourmet Pubs and Restaurants, Markets, two magnificent parks with play areas for children and so many other points of interest to see and discover.
Being in a rural area we have strict guidelines for campfires. We follow all Local Government guidelines and the QFS. No blazing fires, all fires to be extinguished at night, no coals or ash to be left under trees or on the grass. We will pick up each morning coals and ash if required.

Mountview is a very special place having been in the family for over 120 years.
The working farm is 650 acres of grain cropping and also runs a productive Charolais beef cattle stud.
A central stopover point an easy 15 minutes from Toowoomba city and only a few kilometers off the New England Highway.
Great for couples and larger family groups. For those that may not be experienced campers onsite accommodation is also available in the fully renovated homestead for up to 8 guests.
Explore the local area with so many attractions and places to discover including the Darling Downs Zoo, The Historical Bull and Barley Inn, Lavender fields, quaint little country towns, sunflower fields, hiking tracks and so much more.
Enjoy wide open spaces with magnificent views. Watch stunning sunsets, toast marshmallows around the fire pit, watch the night sky for a dazzling display of stars, hike or say hello to the many Charolais cattle on the property.
You will also have access to the facilities at the Ironbark Barn which include a pool table, television, kitchen and bar area, and hot shower and toilets. The kitchen has a fridge, freezer, BBQ, dish-washing station and rubbish/recycling facilities.
IMPORTANT;
DO NOT BRING FIREWOOD ONTO THE PROPERTY IF YOU ARE IN A FIRE ANT ZONE. Mountview has bags of good quality iron-bark timber for sale.
Please note to hook up to power you will need a lead of at least 30 meters.
15 amp power is supplied. Power is allocated on a first in best dressed preference. If you desperately require power please advise at the time of your booking and all efforts will be made to hook you up to power.
Campers must arrive before 5pm to check in. Once checked in you are welcome to come and go as you please.

My friends and I booked this campsite and it's safe to say we were very happy with our stay! Directions to the campsite were clear, the host was very hospitable and the farmland was beautiful. Farm animals roamed the property, mostly horses, cows and the occasional friendly farm dog adding to the atmosphere. We had 630 acres of land to explore with a mountain to hike up with lovely views of the Tablelands and the campgrounds below. We also had our own waterhole to cool off on the hot days and built fires to stave off the cooler nights. There was one main fire pit, but you are allowed to have fires anywhere on your camp ground. In addition to setting up a tent, we attached a hammock to sleep in between the trees next to the waterhole. Overall, this campsite provided a lovely stay, being quiet with minimal people, and allowing you to emerge yourself in the sereneness of farm life.

Amazing spot. Creek was low but the new dam is great (full and clean - awesome spot for a swim). Great camping spot, well looked after and recently mowed. (Mower also in the firewood shed if you need it!) The firewood is great and great value. Few porta-loos around the property that are always clean.
I was very surprised by the low amount of people at the property- must be a great kept secret - saw less than 10 people over the entire new years period.
Try the goat pie and goat curry - both amazing.

This is easily one of the most peaceful campsites I’ve stayed at. Surrounded by large trees and a small creek, it feels wonderfully secluded and calm. It’s nice and quiet in the mornings, except for birds singing. The occasional car passes by but the road isn’t busy at all. This camp is also nice and close to Ipswich.

We (husband, 10m old baby, 2 dogs and friend) had a lovely 2 night stay over christmas. Was a little busy, but thankfully the site next to us left early so we had a lot of extra room which made the stay great. Our area was in the open field which didnt have a lot of shade though and got very windy at times (very windy and cold overnight). Great host, and the BBQ meat tray and breakfast pack were delicious. Clean toilets and showers are provided as well. We had bait worms delivered to us, and the local shops in town only a 10min drive away. Bit challenging to find our camp site at first, until we accidentally stumbled across the hosts house and he was able to arrange for us to he shown to our site. There are A LOT of flies at this time of the year so bring a fly trap, or netting.

We had a lovely long weekend camped beside the Condamine River.
Unfortunately the wind picked up over the weekend, resulting in a quick repositioning of the caravan to act as a wind block, and preserve the awning. Thus loosing the straight on view of the river. This in no way put us off.
We had a track down from our spot to an area that was good for fishing from. One large carp caught, too large for the gear, as with a flock of its head the line broke and it was free again (bugger).
The dog loved the river, making it difficult for fishing.
Plenty of fire pits and flat areas for tents, campers and vans. There were probably 6-8 groups and multiple people on these. I felt in no way crowded, as well spaced sites and well laid out.
Toilets, showers and a dump point to round it out.
Tracy and I will be back, a short journey, Brisbane to Warwick, plus the bonus of dog friendly, fire pits and dump point make it a must.

Great, secluded camp—we stayed at the last site and didn’t see anyone the whole time. Access can be wet and slippery, so a 4WD is recommended, especially if rain is expected. Creek access was a bit tricky due to long grass, but we enjoyed walking around the property.

Absolute slice of heaven. Loved the peace and quiet only listening to the sounds of the many birds and occasionally the sheep and horses. The river looked ver inviting but a shame the weather took a turn and was too cold for me to take a dip. Will definitely be booking again

Date palms camp ground is beautiful. Fully Grassed area lovely flat grounds perfect for caravans and roof top tents. Big spacious areas. We could easily fit 3 vans, 2 roof top tents and a tent with heaps of room to spare. Beautifully maintained. Kevin is an extremely nice guy, lovely to chat to. We had a bit of a storm come through and he was straight down to check everyone was ok. Each camp ground is very private and lots of space to spread out. Dam was beautiful for a lovely dip even got the paddleboards out! Highly recommended and we will definitely be back
