Please notify us if you are camping with other campers who have booked a separate site so we can have you camping beside each other During busy times, most weekend bookings are a minimum of 2 nights with 1 night bookings during the week, however occasionally we will have 1 night bookings on weekends. Check with your host to see availability on 1 night bookings. All campsites run parallel too the creek and are situated on the upper bank of Yabba Creek. Some have creek views, the other sites have trees between the creek and their site. All have mountain views. The main access to the creek is half way along the campground between site 8 and 9. Please do not leave your car parked in the walkway as this will block the entrance to campsite 9. Unfortunately, we lost many of our creek access points due to flooding. Our property is situated between Imbil and Lake Borumba on the beautiful Yabba Creek. We have 110 acres, with campsites on 20 acres. We have 1km of creek frontage. The creek offers fishing, swimming and kayaking. If you're lucky you'll spot the platypus in the creek and there's lots of birdlife around so bring your cameras! Kayaks are supplied free for all campers to use. We just ask that you treat them with respect and return them back to their launching place once you have finished with them. It would pay to pack your reef walkers as the river is rocky in spots. There is lots of space for motorhomes and large camping vehicles to maneuver and park. Plenty of flat spots for your tent or vehicle. This campsite has access to flushing toilets (toilets are situated approx. 400m from the camp sites) and water (rainwater), but you will need to bring your own camping shower. Campfires are permitted outside of fire-ban season (please use the existing firepits). The property features a gorgeous rainforest with a walking track that you can follow safely, and you can also access the state forest next door if you're up for a bigger adventure. Lake Borumba is just down the road which permits water skiing, boating, fishing and other water recreation. The town ship of Imbil is only 7 minutes away where you can visit the many cafes, bakeries, The Imbil pub, Sunday markets, Produce and hardware store, supermarket, butcher, clothing shops, hairdresser, fishing supplies, Petrol station, post office and more. We are a working cattle and horse property but we do allow pets, however pet owners will need to abide by the rules as set out under the Rules and Safety "Pets" section. Please note that there is a rifle range within hearing distance from Maluka Park and campers may at times on weekends hear gunshots. This generally only goes for a few hours.

The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s. Loved it so much! Wish we stayed more than one night! Brad was super nice, helped with the fire (because we are hopeless) ensured we were set with firewood giving us tips along the way, gave us a DOZEN eggs for the morning and a pan (which will be used a lot) and encouraged us to explore around. We did not need to drive anywhere, and I will definitely be coming back with more friends. Amazing price for what you get and so worth the cows visiting in the morning! Thank you so much again!

The hosts were lovely and incredibly welcoming; they checked in to make sure we had everything we needed but also gave us plenty of space to enjoy our stay. Imbil is such a lovely little town and super close for a little outing too. We were hoping for a peaceful, relaxing weekend surrounded by beautiful scenery, and that’s exactly what we got.

The river is beautiful. Great for a dip and a kayak. The free kayaks were amazing. A great way to spend some time slowly seeing the area. Dog friendly which is great. Lovely idyllic country scenes all around. Campsites spread along Yabba Creek, thoughtfully spread out so that everyone has space and privacy. Kayaks available for a fun paddle along the creek, which is nice and clear - we saw plenty of fish. Amazing view of the region after a short walk up a ridge. Also an amazing old fig tree to see a short walk into forestry from the campsites, and a grand old kauri pine a bit further into the forest. Brian is friendly and relaxed host, guiding campers to the sites and checking in after your set up to make sure you're ok. A really lovely spot for a relaxing time in the countryside. Plenty of birdlife for the birdwatchers too.

Our family/fur babies really enjoyed staying here! We planned on stay one night but ended up staying two nights! The host was so very friendly and even brought the trailer down full of fire wood for us to use! I was amazed by the amount of different kinds of dragonflies and butterflies! Simply magical! Ps: It is definitely worth paying to try your luck at panning for gold! There is gold to be found if you’re willing to dig! Thanks Neville! Stunning piece of property!
