Plenty of space to set up where you feel comfortable within the fence and surrounded by horses. 15km or 20 minutes from Cairns City Centre and 10 minutes from Coles or Woolies in either direction. (Please note Gordonvale Woolies is closed on Sundays, Mount Sheridan shopping centre has Kmart, Coles and Woolies). A cane train line runs across the front of the property so during cane season the trains come past a few times during the day and night. They can be noisy but are fairly quick. Fresh and crystal clear swimming hole/ creek at the end of the road if you continue west down Maitland Road. Please stay in the front block and before the horse stables. Guests must be self-contained with their own toilet facilities.

Access to river is 100 metres on graded walking track. A highlight is a beautiful permanent creek which meanders its way through the property for approximately 1 km and is habitat to platypus, turtles, an abundance of bird life with towering blue and rose gums. Take a dip on a hot day in one of several water holes including a large lagoon adjacent a mini waterfall surrounded by beautiful she-oaks. We have 4 available campsites, spread well apart (although visible) all with amazing views.. Maximum occupancy per campsite is 2 guests (of any age). All camp sites have their own fire pit (season permitting). We sell large crates of split firewood for $20 or you can collect your own from the property. Please do not bring firewood onto the property for biosecurity reasons. If you are traveling with friends and everyone wants to book a site with us we would be delighted to host you but please ensure that you set up your caravan/tent/swag individually at each site noting the maximum occupancy of 2 guests per site. Hectic Valley is a young and working farm and we really enjoyed our stay! The sites are very generous, with plenty of shady trees (bring your hammock!) and some right next to the dam which hosts many birds and some of the farms poultry. Its dog friendly with lovely scenery and little bush tracks. Campfires allowed and some fire rings are provided. In the booking was the option to include the animal feeding in the morning which I'm so glad we did! We were very warmely welcomed and everyone had a wonderful time feeding and playing with the baby goats, chickens and geese, goats and pigs, camels and water buffalos and many more! Best stay for families with children including groups of families!

I cannot emphasise enough how amazing this camping experience was for me! I had the whole top of the hill to myself. I was looking for a private retreat and I found it. No internet and no people, unless I went looking for them. The creek was there for a cooling dip and the waterfall at the end of a short hike through the rainforest was so beautiful.
