This assists in avoiding overcrowding) There is NO access to our property from Kuranda end! Visitors need to go through Mareeba A beautiful 160 acre paddock that you can enjoy. Cleared slashed areas beside the river. Enjoy a river swim to cool you down during summer and go for a cold dip during winter. River is also good for fishing during the right season. Access to river is 100 metres on graded walking track. Unless you have a ‘booster ’there is very limited mobile coverage or internet. {enjoy the peace and solitude} Access to the property is fourteen kilometres gravel, coming off the highway. Sites are private separated from each other, some sites suit clothing optional guests Site is 300 metres from road and provides privacy. Tents and small caravans are ideal. Not suitable for highway caravans or very large vans as the access will be too rough. There are walking areas at rear of property. Be aware tropical North Queensland has paralysis ticks and we have snakes at times and visiting pigs. Water can be supplied upon request. Power generators are permitted . There may be minimal mobile service with Telstra. Campfire will only be permitted within fire pit. All campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace behind. Our shallow freshwater creeks are refreshing to explore and, for deep water swimming and kayaking, it's only a five minute drive to Babinda Crossing. Hikers can explore our headlands or venture further to dedicated hiking trails including scaling the 922 metre high Walsh's Pyramid that's only a ten minute drive away. There is high tide boat ramp access and your choice of river front camping areas. Perfect spot for fishing, birdwatching, crocodile spotting and relaxing in the outdoors (follow the Host's safety advice re crocs). We are around 30 minutes south of Cairns and there is plenty of great things to see in the surrounding region with national parks, beaches and waterfalls all nearby. Campers are required to be self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Campfires are welcome but please ensure they are kept contained and you respect any fire restrictions in place. Sorry, no pets.

Plenty of room to camp. Beautiful clean camp areas Toilets available and were in good condition. Lovely creek close to the sites. The Waterfall was a lovely walk but be parpared to walk 45 mins one way and not to get lost. They have a few arrows to guide you but towards the last bit down to the water no arrow and we got a bit lost.

Baron river retreat isn’t just a beautiful place for camping for a few nights, it’s a special place that soothes the soul and refreshes and recharges you. From the moment you arrive and drive down through the farm, giving a cheeky wave to the cows you can feel your troubles melt away. The camp site itself has so much space and options for all tastes from lush grass in full sun to shady spots under the trees, all of which are flat and easy to set up on. Where ever you choose to make home for the time you are here you will be able to hear the gentle sounds of water bubbling over the rapids while you’re serenaded by the kookaburras. There’s a wonderful flat area next to the river which is perfect to have your morning coffee and if you’re lucky you might spot the resident platypus. Go for a refreshing swim, a paddle up the river or brave one of the rapid pools for a refreshing massage. And to top it all off you can finish the day with a hot shower courtesy of the donkey hot water system followed by toasting marshmallows around the fire pit while looking for fireflies. The green loo is a bonus for those who don’t do “bushy bushy” You will not regret a stay at Baron River retreat and the hardest thing is leaving at the end of the stay.

A beautifully maintained property with loads of tropical fruit trees and bird life. The camp sites are well spread out so you can have your own space. The creek is private and great for swimming, with lots of different swimming spots. The waterfall hike is a well maintained easy going track through the untouched tropical rainforest. I look forward to coming back again soon!

This was our second stay at Paradise Camps - it’s such a beautiful, relaxing place. One of the swimming holes was just a 2 minute walk from where we had set up - stunning! The water was a bit cold at first, but with the hot Cairns weather, it didn’t take long to get in!! Dee is a wonderful host and we can’t wait to visit again! Would highly recommend staying here

My family loved camping on Dee’s property. They keep the place well maintained. Toilets and showers are in mint condition and the camping grounds are well maintained too. Dee supplies heaps of cooking equipment and utensils from the local communal hut as well as swimming equipment. The fresh water creek is always flowing and the water temperature is perfect. We look forward to our next visit at Mirriwinni Paradise campsite. Thanks for having us Dee 🙏🏽

Thisvspace is great because you cannpark under trees which give good shade, very close to creek and comunal space as well as toilets. I loved this place everything about it, Rob and Dee very lovely accomodating and welcoming went out of there way to make us feel at home and they went out of their way to wish my mother happy birthday by putting up a sign, very attentive. The space is gorgeous good swimming spots and lush environment, ill definitely be returning for sure!
