Our management priority is maintaining maximum species biodiversity for native plants and animals. We request campers are entirely self-sufficient and respect that we are a nature refuge, not a party camp. Leave no trace campers only. We only take one booking at a time so campers (and us!) have peace and quiet during your stay. Fire wood is cut and ready for use in the designated fire pits. Enjoy the dawn and dusk bird chorus, platypus watching in the creek, or other nature-based activities. No hunting or fishing of any kind as we are a nature refuge. No domestic pets. Arrival is strictly between 12noon and 6pm daily. No arrivals after dark due to wildlife on our roads. Wetherby Road is a dirt road but is fine for 2WD vehicles. We recommend coming off highway at Julatten State Primary School (Mcleans Bridge rd then left onto Wetherby Road) to stay on bitumen longer. Optional extras: onsite bird watching/nature/property tour with us or fresh farm eggs to add to your stay.

Boonjie is a great place to base yourself to visit the amazing sights in the surrounding area! Our property has beautiful native visitors, including the occasional cassowary, and regular morning choir of ground dwelling chowachillas. This campsite suits self reliant and self contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and water supply. Lamins Hill lookout, and the entrances to Windin Falls, and the famous trek up Queensland’s Highest Mountain, are only minutes away. So too, are the Atherton Tablelands‘ crater lakes, Eacham & Barrine, and the small town of Malanda, with its iconic falls, both designated swimming destinations, though, highlights are the clear creeks between there and Boonjie (means mate). A beautiful peaceful spot on top of a hill with panoramic views of tinaroo dam and pasture. Enjoyed walking, feeding the goats in an adjacent field and kayaking in the courtesy kayaks made available for guests. A very welcome breeze and warm friendly hosts.

Wakana Ridge was a stunning place to stay for the weekend! Endless amazing views with easy access down to Tinaroo dam where the kids had a ball on the kayaks provided. Katrina and Jesse we're fabulous hosts, so welcoming and friendly. An added bonus too was feeding the cheeky goats and the kids collecting the chicken eggs. We absolutely loved it here and will be back.

Great site - especially for children! Our preschool aged children enjoyed feeding the chickens and spotting for wildlife at night (though they were too loud to see much!) I was incredibly impressed that there were no mosquitos!!! Shame we only had one night - but it was worth it and the area surrounding is beautiful - stunning waterfalls, and they’re quiet with no other visitors first thing in the morning!

To be honest nothing stood out at 'Aloomba Homestead' Hipcamp, because it was simply amazingly magical all 'round, our type of Hipcamp. Mother Nature at her best, the birdlife was incredible, a very peaceful and calming location on the Mulgrave River within close proximity to Deeral boat ramp, where we launched our tinny and also topped up with water for our van. As for the hosts Margie & Richard, what a terrific down to earth couple, our kinda people, very genuine and open to a good old chin-wag. We hope they travel down our way to Cape Bridgewater in Victoria one day, so we can return their kindness. Top spot for our 10 day stay. 👌

Camp fire under the stars with so many beautiful flowers scattered around the gardens. The temperature at this time of year was incredible too, just enough for long sleeve pajamas and sitting by the fire.

A little spot of paradise right here on earth. I felt as though I were wandering the Amazon. Dead white sand, crystal clear water, cool and green, jungly trees reaching across the creek, a place to restore your soul. Jodie and her dog, Blue, were super friendly. Simply fantastic all round.

This place is truly your ultimate camping experience. The land where we camp is large enough for multiple caravans and level. Right in front of where you camp is the most magical fresh water creek. Plus your own private waterfall which is a short walk from your site. This place is truly so special and magical. Hubby and I have a rule that we never return to the same place twice. In 15 years of travelling around the world- this place is the only exception Jodie is so wonderful and welcoming. Please please please respect this place and leave no trace. Jodie thank you so much for allowing us to stay here. It really is one of a kind Oh my god! I forgot to mention the 2 most friendly and kind camp doggos that will come say hi and Blue will lead you to the waterfall like a little rainforest wizard guide haha
