We have a variety of animals which are behind high fences, and are very unique and spectacular to look at especially at feeding time where you can get a good look at them up close. The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. We have tried to preserve the natural ecosystem on the river bank so it is heavily wooded and largely untouched. The total area for camping is approximately 500 metres with only four sites spaced far apart to ensure plenty of space and privacy. Each site has very easy access to the river, via a couple of tracks. You can enjoy swimming and kayaking in the river. Fishing is welcome when permitted but must be catch and release only. "Kurrajong Meadows" is a large open grassed campground that is flat and spacious, north facing with excellent solar access and a sheltered forest to the southern creek side. A flowing creek is a short stroll from the campsite via a rainforest pathway. The area is perfect for large and small groups or those wishing for their own self-contained space. "Hideaway Camp" is located down a slight incline to privacy. This site is perfect for couples, families and small groups. Creek access is via an embankment and the water is suitable for paddling. Each site has a firepit as camping just isn't camping without a fire. 🔥(Or "bush TV" as we call it!) Firewood is available for purchase. Ask us about our Camper Trailer for hire. Includes setup and pack down, so you can come straight from work or home and get into your relaxing camping break immediately. BYO queen bed linen, pillows and towels. We allow pets 🐕 "off-lead" and offer pet sitting for a small fee per hour. We very happily welcome groups and celebrations and are available to assist where possible. Portaloo hire, 9x3m gazebos, generator, rubbish collection etc. Note: We are a self-contained site - campers must bring their own water and toilet facility. There are train lines in the area and campers may hear distance trains at times.

The sites are level pastured camping areas with lovely trees providing good shade alongside the river. We have tried to preserve the natural ecosystem on the river bank so it is heavily wooded and largely untouched. The total area for camping is approximately 500 metres with only four sites spaced far apart to ensure plenty of space and privacy. Each site has very easy access to the river, via a couple of tracks. You can enjoy swimming and kayaking in the river. Fishing is welcome when permitted but must be catch and release only. There is plenty of wildlife to see, especially for bird watchers: kingfishers, parrots and birds of prey as well as platypus, air breathing lungfish and Mary River turtles. Access is 4WD or AWD only. In severe weather the Mary River can flood. Be prepared to leave in extreme weather. Campers must be self sufficient with their own camping toilet and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Pets are welcome.

Located on 250 acres, Empty Pockets farm is a cattle and crop farm on mixed country from rolling hills to tree lined creek banks. Privacy is guaranteed with a number of spacious sites available along two seasonal creeks and one site overlooking rolling hills and distant mountains. As a working cattle farm there are often inquisitive calves around. There are tracks right around the property for walking and exploring. You may see some of the local wildlife which include Rat Kangaroos and possums (both nocturnal), tree goanna, wallabies, echidna and many bird species. Located only 30 minutes from the beautiful Bunya Mountains and Coomba Falls. Motocross Mountain is 8km away and we are 5km from the Yarraman Rail Trail which is popular for mountain bike riding. Jacks shack is a wonderful camping spot on Kaylea and Deans farm. The shack is a great place to hang out with beautiful views of the horses and the hill side. Toilets were nice and clean. Creek and kayaks really nice. Great for a swim too! Great having town water so close too. Other campers very respectful and quiet. Would definitely recommend!

We stayed at the Mountain View site at Yabba Creek Farm and had the most amazing time. The site is spacious, has a purpose built shelter, and is beautifully green, with stunning views all around. The shelter that’s been built is fantastic — open and airy, allowing the breeze through while still providing great cover. Having a hooked-up shower was an added bonus, and being so close to the river made the experience even more special. Kaylea and Dean are wonderful hosts. They have created a peaceful, well thought out, and truly wonderful place to relax and reconnect with nature. We can’t wait to come back — highly, highly recommend!

We were on Grey Gums site. Lovely campsite - plan to stay again! Huge space allocated - could fit multiple families. Each site has a fire pit. Creek was clean and lovely to swim in morning and afternoon. Loved seeing the horses galloping in the paddock just 30m away. Kids loved the animal petting - chickens, Guinea pig, blue tongue lizard, turkey, pony ride! Felt very private and relaxing with so much space around us.

We absolutely LOVED camping at Yabba Ridge. Big spacious sites are a huge plus! Clean toilets and roomy showers, good water pressure (just BYO hand soap!). Beautiful deep flowing creek in a majestic scenery, great for swimming, kayaking (free to use) and floating around looking at the beautiful ridge of trees. The animals were our favourite part - so stunning and unique - ostriches, long-horned cows and a majestic reindeer (?) were favourites and you can feed them all for $3-5.a wonderful experience for young and old! Firewood is a huge bag for $15 too! Lovely clear nights looking at the stars - country living at its best! It's not often you find a great farmstay with great water feature too, and the spacious sites means its never busy or crowded, but enough space for a group (just be mindful of how many need power). We will most definitely be back!! I've told all our friends how amazing it was. Thank you Arna & Luke on a beautiful weekend.
