Check out times. 10 am - unless advised. The Chookhouse is situated approximately 20 minutes south of Toowoomba on 23 acres. Please note that there are other dogs and animals long our road. We also have grain trains that pass by throughout the day and night. When you are travelling on Shepperd Road look for our "Chookhouse Farm" sign and a chook mailbox, that is the driveway you need to take. LONG TERM RENTALS We can also accommodate long term rentals. Please contact us for further information. If possible, we would prefer self-contained set ups; however not essential. AMENITIES Uni-sex amenity block with hot water and flushing toilets for those booked in Pepperina. Top Paddock power, Top Paddock unpowered and Paddock Camp we have gas showers (preset temperature for the safety of children). It will not be a hot shower like you have at home, however you will get clean. There are also pit toilets in the camp areas. In each camp area we have 3 x rubbish bins. PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT HAVE DRINKING WATER AVAILABLE. WE DO NOT HAVE WATER TO FILL YOUR CARAVAN. Plenty of room for self-contained caravans/motorhomes and places to pitch a tent or camper. National Parks, walking trails, Wineries, Gourmet Pubs and Restaurants, Markets, two magnificent parks with play areas for children and so many other points of interest to see and discover. So many animals here! You get to meet camels, cows, pigs, alpacas, Boer goats Dorper Sheep, a multitude of chickens, geese, peacocks and guinea fowl. Miss Piggy loves posing for the camera. Sit under the stars and toast your marshmallows by your fire pit. Safe place to leave your gear while out exploring the Darling Downs and surrounds. Being in a rural area we have strict guidelines for campfires. We follow all Local Government guidelines and the QFS. No blazing fires, all fires to be extinguished at night, no coals or ash to be left under trees or on the grass. We will pick up each morning coals and ash if required. We have enclosures for you to camp with your equine family in a safe clean environment with secure fences. We also have facilities for children to learn about farm animals. All our animals including horses, cattle, chooks, guineas and dogs can be approached and touched without harm to children. The geese are a little skittish about this. :) Our property is a stroll away from Aratula in the Scenic Rim. The hidden creek on our property is home to a host of native wildlife and fauna. An occasional koala can be seen high up in the trees. * We have a rural residential property with access to untamed native Australian bush which is close to everything special in the Scenic Rim of Queensland. * Our property is accessible from the Cunningham highway opposite the BP service Station. Preferable for 4 x 4 vehicles in the wet. During the dry season any vehicle can gain access. * The fences around each camp site allow for families to bring their equine family to roam close by their camp. * children will enjoy the benefits of camping and the close encounters with farm animals. The Camel Farm, Alpaca farms and dairies are all found in the Scenic Rim area and allow for visitors. * its a hop step and jump to Boonah and Moogerah Dam - 15mins * just down the road to cafes and country markets. * a scenic drive awaits you to the Gold Coast 2 hours drive East * Shopping and entertainment can be found in Brisbane 1 hour drive North * Its an ideal place for Gray nomads with the occasional option of caretaking rent free * with yards available for horses * Our property offers an Adventurous family get away Our campsites are on high open grassy country with shady spotted gums along the creek. Access to the campsites is a short distance off the Cunningham Highway gate entry. Preference is for 4WD vehicles and limited access by 2WD. Offroad RV length is limited to under 20ft. The type of vehicle and RV will dictate where your campsite would be located. Pets are welcome (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles) but must stay within the camp sites and be restrained by owners. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping amenities. These are off grid camp grounds with a picnic table, braziers and camp bin available for communal use. Firewood of various types can be found along the creek with the option to purchase firewood from our stock.
