Hopevale Adventure Camping

6 sites · RVs, Tents113 acres · Widgee, QLD
The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal. “We have been blessed beyond measure with a small slice of God’s wonderful creation that we would love to share with you.”

Hope Valley

43 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents1375 acres · Amamoor Creek, QLD
4WD Recommended - dirt/gravel road and two creek crossings (through the creek bed) to get here. We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here. No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Our venue and campgrounds are situated at the old Jimna State School property. The school closed in 2009 with the last students attending in 2006. It was then sold by the Qld government and has been rezoned as a Camping, Recreation and Events Venue. We have retained all the old school facilities for our campers to enjoy. There is a children’s playground and multi-purpose tennis court for everyone to enjoy. We provide tennis rackets, balls and basketballs free of charge to our campers. There is also no charge or fee to use the court. On most Sundays afternoons (weather permitting), we have social tennis where everyone is welcome to join in. The old school toilet blocks have the addition of hot showers and all toilet facilities are the flushing type. Campfires are permitted and there are small mobile fire pits provided so wherever you set up camp you can have your campfire right beside you. Note: There are no ground fires permitted and at certain times of the year Qld Rural Fire brigade may enforce a total fire ban. We have our “Caffeine Injection” kiosk on-site for the weekends and school holidays. Get your morning caffeine fix as well as bagged ice, firewood, ice creams, snacks, cold drinks etc etc Then we have the old school principals residence aka “The Bush Holiday House“. It is fully self-contained and all linen is provided. Just BYO food & drinks. We offer this for one night stays and longer. Jimna is a tiny town immersed in the Australian bush; with nearby gorges, ravines, creeks and waterfalls - some wild & spectacular places to see. Oksana’s Dream

1 site · Tent15 acres · Glastonbury, QLD
Private and secluded 15 acre property on the edge of forest lined clear running creek. Only 8km to town of Gympie and 50 mins to Rainbow Beach. Many sights and attractions within short driving distance. Camp is setup on the edge of the forest canopy that follows the quite running creek that’s abundant with bird life and a beautiful place to soak your feet or have a dip in the natural plunge pool or just relax and listen to natures orchestra. It’s a slight downhill drive from the driveway to campsite so if towing a camp trailer a 4WD is recommended. It’s about a 3 minute walk to the house so your privacy is assured but not far to go should you need any assistance. Our campsite comes with fireplace and bench seating and reasonable amount of firewood supplied for the length of your stay.

Mothar Mountain Camp

1 site · RV, Tent2 acres · Mothar Mountain, QLD
Our property is located in Mothar Moutnain on a quiet cul de sac road with close to two acres of land. I have a permaculture background and have been setting up and working for the last 8 years. It is only 6 months I moved into that proprety and already have a very successful garden. We have only one site available, you will have plenty of privacy and space during your stay. If you wish to interact with us you are more than welcome but if you want to stay quiet that is fine too. We are 10 minutes from Gympie CBD where you will find everything from museums to shops and some great fishing on the Mary River. On the other side you can explore the Mothar Mountain Rock Pool and enjoy some excellent bush walking and 4x4 driving. Once you have explored the area has to offer you can easily access Bruce Hwy which will give you easy access to all the amazing sunshine coast activities. I am a single mum with young kids so if you are not tolerant with kids playing in the back yard this spot is not for you. Campfires are allowed in the fire pit provided but please ensure there are no restrictions in place before lighting a fire (BYO wood). We have one dog and some chickens and ducks. So if you have some pets they need to be fine with that. Campers must be self sufficient and bring their own toilet and shower with them and take all waste on departure. We might arrange water for you but it will depends on the time of the year as we are on tanks and if it is not raining we are very limited. So it is better if you have your own water. If you wish you can buy fresh eggs and veggies depends what is on at the time.
