GLOWS Garden Centre Camp is set in a large field backing onto world heritage rainforest to the East/South and adjoining Garden Centre and Raw Materials Yard to the north. We have only opened 4 lovely grassy sites. Our Hipcamp opened September 2024 and only 200m away is a cafe at our Garden Centre for a great coffee 6 days a week! You will need to be self-sufficient however we do have a cold water shower and toilets available between 7am and 5pm in the adjoining Garden Centre. Also available is a large cold water washing machine (gold coin donation). We are located on Tully Mission Beach Road with the bike path between Wongaling Beach and Mission Beach running right past the front gates, so a quick ride into town and plenty of space to bring your boat! We your hosts, (Nancy and Shane) operate the adjoining Garden Centre and Raw Materials yard so there is always something happening and with vast local knowledge of what to do and where to go, we are only happy to help. Opened in September 2024 we have planted a tropical fruit forest plantation as well as citrus orchard and with our 50 beautiful free-range chooks (pets) you will have them wandering around freely, clucking away happily.

We have a beautiful freshwater swimming hole down the road, and also the Mulgrave River is very close if you want to do some fishing.The camping area is large, grassy and reasonably level, with space closer to the tree line, and space more out in the open. There is a firepit provided, and plenty of firewood around the place for you to help yourself to. We also welcome four-legged family members! We have had recent sightings of cassowary on our property so keep an eye out, you might just see one!We prefer self-contained campers, who have their own amenities, but we do have a toilet and shower up at the main house (about 50 metres away) you are welcome to use if needed. This is an unused bathroom downstairs so you will still have privacy. Access into the property is not suitable for large motorhomes. Entry will be too small for vehicles approx 8.5 metres long and 3.5 metres high.We grow exotic fruit on the property including limes, pomelos, mangosteens and more. Some very special wildlife for the quite observer including regular sitings of platypus and tree kangaroos. Close to township of Malanda with tourist activities throughout the atherton tablelands. This area is usually 5-10 degrees cooler than Cairns and does not get the summer humidity. Firewood and fireplaces provided, any small change donations for firewood are not required but they are appreciated and helps us provide abundant firewood for your stay. Water available (filtered but recomended to be boiled or treated prior to drinking) Campers need to be self contained, no toilets on site. Please respect this clean, natural setting, remove all rubbish and no interfering with flora or fauna. Hikers can explore our headlands or venture further to dedicated hiking trails including scaling the 922 metre high Walsh's Pyramid that's only a ten minute drive away. Birdwatchers are spoiled for choice day and night, beautiful insects are in abundance, small native marsupials and reptiles are regularly seen, and the waterways are home to a variety of tropical fish as well as the occasional crocodile in the main river. Heidi & Mike really are superb hosts and their secluded creek-side property is utterly amazing. We were spoilt for choice for creekside areas to park our caravan, all of the potential sites were equally stunning, beautifully level with a lush buffalo grass carpet. The wildlife was abundant and a true joy for birdwatchers - Victoia's Riflebirds, Wompoo Fruit Doves, Emerald Doves, Spotted Catbirds, Forrest Kingfishers and Honeyeaters. We didn't get to see a Tree Kangaroo but we did see Platypus swimming in the creek next to camp. Amazing!! Heidi & Mike, thanks for sharing your sensational slice of paradise, and we most certainly will return.

We have had the privilege of experiencing this beautiful camp in Summer, Winter, and Spring, and each time it has revealed a new kind of magic. Picture this: You emerge from your camper shortly after sunrise to discover a pale mist curling through the trees, softening the edges of the waking rainforest; transforming your camp-site into a quiet dream. Dew-beaded spiderwebs cling to the trees, and glimmer across the sprawling green lawn like tiny gems as the first rays of sunlight filter through the fog. The intriguing call of the Wompoo Fruit Dove beckons you on a lazy stroll along the banks of the trickling stream. A flash of blue darts by you; the Azure Kingfisher is fishing for his morning meal. Movements in the tree just outside your camper door, the Olive backed Sunbirds are busily flitting from branch to branch. The world around you feels hushed and new-touched by the calm, lingering magic of dawn. For those of you that have visited before, there are some fun developments taking place at camp. I won't divulge too many secrets, you'll have to discover them for yourself. Hints: Where does that quirky creek crossing lead to? What exactly is a 'loo with a view' ? For those who haven't been, you can rest assured that Heidi and Mike are wonderful hosts that keep the property in mint condition, and are always looking for ways to improve your camp experience. Welcome to A lovely, secluded streamside campsite. With a private maintained streamside camping area of aprox 1 acre on a ten acre property, surrounded by rain forrest and farmland. Kids are welcome to join small farm activities, feeding chickens and cows, collecting eggs and harvesting fruit trees when fruit is available. Some very special wildlife for the quite observer including regular sitings of platypus and tree kangaroos. We also regularly see the Ulysses and cairns bird wing butterflies with glow bugs being fairly common in the warmer months. Close to township of Malanda with tourist activities throughout the atherton tablelands. This area is usually 5-10 degrees cooler than Cairns and does not get the summer humidity. Firewood and fireplaces provided, any small change donations for firewood are not required but they are appreciated and helps us provide abundant firewood for your stay. Water available (filtered but recomended to be boiled or treated prior to drinking) Campers need to be self contained, no toilets on site. Please respect this clean, natural setting, remove all rubbish and no interfering with flora or fauna. Bookings are only for one camp group, max six or seven caravans, camper trailers or campsites to maintain space and atmosphere. Access is by well maintained gravel drive then grassed area. Wet wether events can affect the grassed area and may need to be considered for bookings.

(Please note Gordonvale Woolies is closed on Sundays, Mount Sheridan shopping centre has Kmart, Coles and Woolies). A cane train line runs across the front of the property so during cane season the trains come past a few times during the day and night. They can be noisy but are fairly quick. GLOWS Garden Centre Camp is set in a large field backing onto world heritage rainforest to the East/South and adjoining Garden Centre and Raw Materials Yard to the north. We have only opened 4 lovely grassy sites. Our Hipcamp opened September 2024 and only 200m away is a cafe at our Garden Centre for a great coffee 6 days a week! You will need to be self-sufficient however we do have a cold water shower and toilets available between 7am and 5pm in the adjoining Garden Centre. Also available is a large cold water washing machine (gold coin donation). We are located on Tully Mission Beach Road with the bike path between Wongaling Beach and Mission Beach running right past the front gates, so a quick ride into town and plenty of space to bring your boat! We your hosts, (Nancy and Shane) operate the adjoining Garden Centre and Raw Materials yard so there is always something happening and with vast local knowledge of what to do and where to go, we are only happy to help. Opened in September 2024 we have planted a tropical fruit forest plantation as well as citrus orchard and with our 50 beautiful free-range chooks (pets) you will have them wandering around freely, clucking away happily.
