This area is usually 5-10 degrees cooler than Cairns and does not get the summer humidity.

Flaggy Creek Caravan Camp is set on a 260 acre rural property set aside for wildlife offering a peaceful and relaxing place to escape the daily grind. Please read this description to the end to make sure our campsites are right for you (click show more).
You will need to be fully self-contained: compulsory own toilet, drinking water, recommended shower. If you do not have a toilet we cannot allow you to stay.
Our Hipcamp, (owners on site), is small scale to minimise environmental impact; we have six sites spaced well apart for privacy; each site catering up to two adult guests only (18+) and one vehicle. * Camp 5 permits 1 dog see Rules when booking; All other campsites strictly No Pets * Solo travelers are encouraged to book, many who have commented not feeling overwhelmed by large groups or too isolated.
If you are booking for others please let them know they will need to set up at their booked site. Please do not invite additional guests to enter the property.
Our Hipcamp is situated in a cool climate, away from the humidity of the coast. A highlight is beautiful permanent Flaggy Creek which meanders its way through the property for approximately 1 km and is habitat to platypus, turtles and an abundance of bird life (we are close to an ebird hotspot) with towering blue and rose gums. Take a dip on a hot day in one of several water holes including a large lagoon adjacent a mini waterfall surrounded by beautiful she-oaks. There are walks on mowed tracks around the property (look for large eastern grey kangaroos in the top paddock) including along a dam wall where you might spot herons or rainbow bee eaters (seasonally) and we can give you directions to a fire-trail to hike up to the Bluff. Herberton (10 mins) also has many excellent walking trails.
All camp sites have their own fire pit (local conditions and/or state fire ban season permitting). We sell large crates of split firewood for $20 or you can collect your own. Please do not bring firewood for biosecurity reasons.
During the wet season (December-April) we recommend 4WD to access the property as there is a concrete causeway creek crossing and on rare occasions this can become impassable with an extreme amount of rain but does go down very quickly once rain has eased. Please take care and go slowly on unsealed roads.

We have had recent sightings of cassowary on our property so keep an eye out, you might just see one!We prefer self-contained campers, who have their own amenities, but we do have a toilet and shower up at the main house (about 50 metres away) you are welcome to use if needed. This is an unused bathroom downstairs so you will still have privacy. Access into the property is not suitable for large motorhomes. Entry will be too small for vehicles approx 8.5 metres long and 3.5 metres high.We grow exotic fruit on the property including limes, pomelos, mangosteens and more. When it's in season, you're welcome to sample some! Gordonvale is the nearest town, with a quiet historic charm, just 15 minutes drive away, while Cairns is around 25 minutes.

Lovely spot on top of a ridge so was a constant cool breeze when we were there. Private space all to ourselves with the only noise being birds and sometimes highway traffic. Highly recommend.

Emma's property was lovely, we extended our stay as we loved the mountain views and how friendly the horse was. We enjoyed the green grass and had plenty of space to spread out with our two vans and our dogs. Close to woolies and a coles and not too far out of cairns CBD. a great place to base yourself

Camped there with my two little boys.
The site offered plenty of space and privacy whilst still being close to the water access.
The kids used their balance bikes to go down the steep trail to the "outhouse" and making loops around the large site. We had a little fishing sesh in the morning quacking with the visiting ducks, before heading to the farm for the booked baby animals feeding and cuddling experience.
Wood bag was awaiting for us next to the fire pit on arrival as requested.
Farm owners were absolutely lovely assisting with all our requests very nicely and answering to all our multiple questions very patiently.
Only downside for us is that we won't be able to cross the creek when the rain season will start again, and site will become too muddy for us to set up the tent with the rain also. But will be perfect for 4WD with roof tent etc. !
Everything was held to promises and beyond ! will definitely be back for a longer stay when the opportunity shows again !

Love this camp site..owner come greet us and say hello and given us recommendations.
Just one thing..there are dogs barking and howling around/opposite the creek during the day and night..if you are sensitive of noise while sleeping, make sure bring your ear plugs 😅

Hectic valley is the perfect getaway with all members of the family.
We had a secluded bush spot with 9 of us and two van camping. Plenty of space kids could make noise and not disturb the neighbours some distance away.
Cooked over the campfire and saw all the awesome animals at the farm.
We would highly recommend it.

A beautiful camp spot with lots of flowers in bloom. Jodie gave us a tour around the property including lots of information around their flowers and vanilla which was very interesting. Waterfall and creek were crystal clear and very refreshing. Would go back again but I’d recommend packing firewood as there was none available to purchase
