This historic property was the site of one of the two original settlements of Tumut and was where the first bridge over the river was built. It is home to the largest English Elm tree in the world. The fertile river flats were first used for growing tobacco and then during the 1900’s, for the growing of millet. Don McDonald (Brett’s grandfather) was one of the pioneers of the local millet industry and the famous Tumut millet brooms. Six generations of local knowledge within the same family ensures your stay will be warm, welcoming and full of local information. You’ll find woollen blankets to keep your warm if the wind picks up. EATING The Tent comes equipped with a small kitchen. Prepare, cook or heat meals with all the utensils you need at hand. There is a BBQ on the deck to cook local meats and veggies. LIVING In the Tent you will find a Lounge, lamps, books, boardgames and a dining table. Take a seat or lay in the bath on the deck enjoying the expansive views over a glass of champagne, watch the sun set or rise. Enjoy a moment, unhurried. So that you can take in your natural surrounds we haven’t included TV or Wifi, minimising screen time as much as possible during your stay. Gorgeous view, perfect for an overnighter with my kids. Sunset was beautiful. Had water at the site, even though we’d brought our own, and Sarah was great. Very welcoming and even took us around the farm in their 4x4. Kids loved it, slept like a log and would highly recommended for an overnight stay.

We booked Site 3 but decided to upgrade to the glamping as it was a milestone day for us and also the last night of our trip. Jarabin is a great spot and one we have visited and camped at before. The hosts were wonderful to communicate with and we loved the BBQ meat package. The thin sausages were superb and we will be buying them again. It's a great spot on the river whether you decide to camp or glamp like we did. Well done to the hosts, it's a credit to their time and effort.

This was our second time staying at Jarabin - it’s one of our family’s favourite HipCamps. The property is beautiful and quiet, and we ordered the BBQ pack again which was brilliant. Instructions to access the property are very clear and easy to follow. Although the weekend ended pretty wet, the weather held out long enough for a post-dinner swim in the river with the sunset in the background. Pretty close to perfection!

We had such a beautiful stay at Burrendah at two tree camp site. Sarah was lovely meeting us at the gate on arrival. The property and views were stunning. An easy 25-30 minute drive from Canberra it was the perfect balance of busy tourist days and relaxed country evenings. We extended our stay from 3 nights to 4!

Wow, I travel extensively throughout Australia with my Campervan and this is up there with best sites available. Right on the Murrumbidgee River, theres only 3 campsites, all spread avout 100m apart to ensure privacy. Campfires permitted and catered for and Ben even provides Black Angus beef and accompanying wines for those keen to sample local produce. Will return ASAP. 5 stars and a must visit. Highly reccomend.

1 night at MOUNTAIN VIEW RETREAT

Just stayed for one night, but want an awesome property. I had the place to myself , but there were a number of site options for me. I took “The Ridge” as it gave the most amazing view. Craig and Liz were great hosts, getting me in the correct driveway, showing me the amenities, and taking me down the property to the sites. The Valley views were amazing and the stars at night were so clear. I was fortunate ate to have such a clear night. Check was fine as I used the amenities after I packed up, and Craig and Liz came to check if all was good. Amazing property and awesome hosts. Highly reccomend

A beautiful riverfront campsite- it was just magic waking up to the running river water. We only stopped in for a night but would definitely be back. A gorgeous, very well cared for property and hosts were easy to communicate with. Suitable for beginner campers and just as enjoyable for experienced campers like ourselves. The campsites are within reasonable proximity to each other (you would be able to see your neighbours) but not right on top of each other. Cars do also drive by during the day maybe 50m away, so not 100% private, if that’s what you are chasing. That would be the only negative if you were wanting to be remote.

Weekend Trip to Private Bush Camp Exclusively Yours

This is our second stay at Peppermint Gum campground. We loved having such a large area all to ourselves, on such a beautiful property. The set-up makes for very easy camping with kids and groups; the shelter and picnic table, the established campfire and composting toilet. We enjoyed going for walks through the bush and to the creek; looking for wombat burrows, seeing blue-tongue lizards, spotting lots of birds and hearing lots of frogs!

This property is amazing. The views are fantastic, the stars are beautiful and the river is so serene. My pup and I had an amazing time at Ben’s place, and highly recommend this stay. I’ll be back for sure. The sites are well spread out, but in terms of longer stays, I’d recommend bringing ensuite toilet for more privacy! I only stayed one night so this wasn’t a problem at all. Thanks Ben! We’ll be back.
