The Gateway-Hargraves Bushland

In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

Getting Away Camp

Approximately 45 minutes from Orange, 4 hours from Sydney. The region between Molong and Parkes offers scenic views, bush walking, bush camping, picnic areas, mountain biking trails, and 4WD touring. To the northwest lies Goobang National Park that includes Caloma lookout, one of the high points in the Wanda Wandong sector of Goobang National Park. The area is a bird watchers' paradise - you can often spot birds of prey, such as wedge-tailed eagles, brown goshawks and brown falcons, soaring across the sky. Black cypress pines, grevilleas, lomandras and heath feature commonly on the landscape. There are many tall grass trees in this area too, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. This is a large property that is taking a break from sheep farming. Covered in gum trees and pines and lots of open space. The property has a creek with all year round water holes and dams. You can do almost anything you want. Hiking, fishing, swimming, camping and living the dream. There's emus (bush chooks), kangaroos (hopping dogs), platypus and no drop bears, meaning you can sit back, relax and go back to the way it was. Self sufficient campers only, leave no trace. You must bring your own camping toilet and shower. If booking under the Group listing, you will need to arrange you own portaloos, which I am happy to manage delivery/pick up of with the local hire company. It's 15 minutes to the pub in town if you're up for a coldie or a meal. Our farm is a work in progress.

Innesvale Farm is located in the Central West NSW on 66 acres of land. There is a pool you can swim in, and lots of farm animal you can feed and experience on your stay. There is power if needed closer to the house, or you can set up anywhere else on the property. There are two dams that you can try your lunch to catch some yabbies. We have a few fenced off paddocks that you could set your tent or caravan up and enjoy the peace and quiet and farm animals not far and enjoy the experience of farm life. Stuart Town was originally named Ironbark in relation to Banjo Patterson’s, The Man from Ironbark. Fairview Farm sits on 20 Acres in Stuart Town and provides beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Nearby is Burrendong Dam / Mookerawa Waters for fishing, boating, paddling and swimming. We are also surrounded by rolling hills. It's a very peaceful, tranquil setting. Lots of birdlife, grass parrots, king parrots, blue wrens, willie wagtails, and eastern rosellas just to mention a few. We have a collection of farm animals, sheep, alpacas, goats, chickens and two resident Boredoodles. Feeding of animals is allowed as well, for the enjoyment of kids. Walking and bike riding (pushbikes only) within the farm is allowed. There is a local Pub in town a short drive or bike ride, they serve pizzas every day and meals on specific day/nights will need to check! All campers must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet. We look forward to welcoming you to Fairview Farm!

Welcome to Hillsdale, set on 140 acres in the stunning valley of Burrundulla and only 10 minutes from Mudgee town centre.4WD access with elevated views across the valley and to Mount Frome. Build camp on a cleared site near the dam.This is a quiet, spot to enjoy the birdlife, watch the resident mob of kangaroos and listen to our cows gently mooing.It's the perfect spot to enjoy the spectacular Mudgee sunsets, or even take a short stroll to Hillsdale's Shepherds Lookout where you can enjoy breath taking views whilst enjoying a glass of local wine or beer.We provide a large firepit and supply plenty of wood or feel free to collect or cut wood from fallen trees. Use of the firepit is subject to local weather and restrictions/bans.A bin is provided for mixed garbage, no human waste including nappies. All camping toilet cassettes to be removed from the property.We can provide access to potable water if required. Hillsdale is for 4WD drivers only and suits campers who want a peaceful and private place to stay within easy access of all that Mudgee has to offer.We welcome, adventurous campers or wildlife lovers who want to stay off grid in privacy in a pitched tent, roof top, or 4WD caravans. Or for the really adventurous enjoy the stars at night in your swag. Well behaved pets are permitted and are likely to enjoy a swim in the dam.Fishing is available off property but close by. For the more serious fisherman go to Windamere Dam less than 15 minutes away.We only permit 1 booking at a time, so if you are a small group, please contact us and we may be able to accommodate you. We will also be opening up more unique and private sites over the coming months, so check back with us.We have livestock so no shooting or motorbikes permitted.

The Gateway-Hargraves Bushland

In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth. Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William. Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

A tranquil 85 acre property with multiple options for your stay, along the banks of the Talbragar River or by wooded areas bordering the beautiful Scrubby Creek. The sites are self-service with no amenities currently available, so best suited to those happy to be self-sufficient and with a 'leave no trace' approach. All sites offer bushwalking options (maps can be provided via email), an abundance of native flora and fauna including wild birds, the occasional echidna and wombats. You'll also find sheep and cattle meandering around the paddocks, along with our horses and free ranging peacock. We also have a super friendly kelpie and dachshund pup making the farm feel complete. Dogs are welcome &; we have stables or individual paddocks available if you'd like to bring your equine friends (no riding on the property due to insurance). Only 15 minutes to the centre of town & is a great base for your visit to Dubbo. Located on the Sydney side of Dubbo, it's an easy place to pull up on your travels and we look forward to your visit.
