Weekend Trip to Wedderburn Hideaway

We had a wonderful stay! The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made us feel very welcome. The campsite was well spaced out from our neighbors, allowing us to really enjoy private family time. We were also lucky enough to spot a wild koala right at the campground, which was such a special experience. It became a truly memorable family trip for us. We would love to come back again!

Great place to stay. Unbelievable it’s such close to city but so peaceful and natural. Owner’s three dogs are so friendly and they can even lead you to the toilet! They would even defend for you whenever there is unexpected sound (could be wild rabbit according to owner) somewhere in the dark far away from us at night. The only downside is their defending bark may wake you up at night. But I’m ok with that.

Camp grounds were really well kept and it was nice being near the farm animals. Our kids loved the dogs, and they were great with the kids but we did have to be a little careful when food was around. The facilities were good and it’s a great option to have close by. Hosts were great, and even gave us some food to feed the farm animals with.

Really lovely campsite and facility’s. Hosts were accomodating and showed us different trail walks we could do. Lots of walks to see wild kangaroos and great location right beside a beautiful river.

We had such a lovely time during our stay. The dogs welcomed us on arrival and the kids loved feeding Steve the Highland bull. Caitlin went above and beyond to make the first leg of our holiday memorable, even asking my kids if they would like to help give two of the dogs a bath. Hoping to stay here again on our way home. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

A well-kitted out hut in beautiful surroundings - a forest glade with all sorts of gorgeous details to explore (signs & mini ponds & benches; fruit trees and night lights). It was fun to use the fire pit at night to toast marshmallows. Tammy and Carol were very friendly and have made a book of local sights.

What a beautiful little part of the world! The Sunset camp site at the Joadja Gorge Camping Retreat is situated out of the way in private with such a good little lookout into the wilderness below. Beautiful big campfire site which is great for relaxing around or cooking up a storm and plenty of firewood too. A nice amount of room for a small family or plenty of room for a couple to relax. Dog friendly and the pups that are on the property are so lovely! A short walk through nature to the area toilet and outdoor shower, which a so clean and well maintained. Access to pre-prepared platters or grazing plates and beautiful wine that’s all supplied by local businesses from the area. The seafood platter in particular is so yummy and paired with a white wine from Artemis winery. Awesome bush walks around the property and into an incredible gorge with running water well below. Cannot wait to come back and relax in such a beautiful place away from all the hustle and bustle.

'Elouera Vale' Farm

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar. The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to the Mittagong Town Centre where you will find all the shops, cafes and restaurants for your needs. It is well worth a visit to ‘The Shaggy Cow’ cafe, one of our favourite foodie spots (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale). While you're here please try the Cool Climate wines. Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. Walk to lookouts over the ocean, hike down to the beach or a few minutes drive to dog friendly beaches. Our bathroom and kitchen facilities make it an easy experience for first time campers. We are well-behaved-dog-friendly BUT you must let us know in advance. Our access track to the camping sites has been repaired with a deep layer of asphalt but still best suited to 4WD. The majority of standard 2WD cars manage the track fine There is also the option of parking roadside, and walking in approx 300m to the sites. Please message us if unsure about your vehicle. IMPORTANT PLEASE READ 1. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog/dogs - we have horses, house dogs, chickens and; wildlife plus likely other campers close by, so need to be forewarned. Dogs must be on lead or contained at all times. 2. If you need to camp out of your 4WD RV (such as a roof top tent), please contact me before booking to ensure those two particular vehicle sites are still available :) and that your vehicle is suitable for our track. Bebrue Mittagong

Bebrue was created in 1972 when 8¼ acres of natural bushland on the top of Mount Gibraltar (“The Gib”) at Mittagong was donated to the Girl Guides Association for the establishment of a camping and outdoors facility.Today, the site offers a well-protected camping facility set amongst beautiful, natural surrounds that are ideal for many activities. The adjacent north-east side of Mount Gibraltar offers walking trails to explore.The Mount Gibraltar Forest is significant due to its rarity, being identified as an endangered and threatened ecological community. The unique geology of the area supports a collection of flora that, as an assemblage, does not exist outside of The Gib. One very important resident of The Gib that you may meet is the extremely rare Powerful Owl. Bebrue is one of the largest privately own properties on The Gib and Girl Guides have always worked hard to protect the natural bush at Bebrue. Bebrue has also been recognised by the Mount Gibraltar Landcare and Bushcare Group as being an important local wildlife corridor. It is a member of Land for Wildlife.Bebrue is run by volunteers and all funds generated go back into improving the facility for use by the Girl Guides and wider community.

Currambene Creek Farm

The farm is a rolling 17 acres with Currambene Creek making up the property's northern boundary. We have an abundance of native birds, kangaroos, and a few wombats.
