Beautiful property, nestled in the Colo Valley, next to the pristine Colo River. We have cleared grassy paddocks, some shady areas, and access to the Colo River, one of the most pristine rivers in NSW.
Our river access is normally shallow, well-suited to young families or those who just want to lay back and enjoy a refreshing dip. Amazing sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing are provided free of charge along with bird watching, local wildlife, and horses in surrounding paddocks.
We offer limited sites to comply with NSW Camping legislation and Hipcamp guidelines and to enable campers to experience the Colo as it should be, listening to the beautiful wildlife and really appreciating the outdoors. Sites are large with varying distance between each to enable you to enjoy the camping experience in your own space.
Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m.
IMPORTANT: Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis, with conditions, and a $20 fee applies. Please check with Hosts before booking. Once approved, please add the Pets Extra when booking.

There is no mobile reception or internet access, therefore, providing a true off-grid retreat. Self-sufficient campers are preferred.
There are fire drums available on each site, most with grill plates - subject to RFS bush fire danger ratings on the day.

There are local bush walks through National Parks and great places for mountain bike riding although be mindful of holiday traffic in peak times on our local dirt roads.

Our own private residence is a separate apartment upstairs, there are no shared walls or internal stairs and you will have your own private entrance, however as it is a large, old wooden house you may at times hear us moving about upstairs, naturally we try to be as quiet as possible when we have guests visiting. We will leave you entirely to yourselves but if you do need any help or information or even a little guided walking tour of the locality we are very happy to accommodate you. Our sauna deck is a shared area which guests are welcome to use, heating the sauna takes an hour or two, so just let us know and we will get it all ready for you with fresh towels, scented oils and branches of freshly cut lavender or wormwood to create a beautiful ambience.

The river can get busy (which is great after the floods as it has been dead for so long) and so can the road across the river but if you are enjoying your family and friends you won't even notice!
We have one basic toilet, and one river water shower available too! Please bring your own drinking water.
You can bring your dogs, but they must be on a leash at all times. We have three little puppies that love to roam their property. We lock them up sometimes but most of the time they are just running around having fun. Minimum of 2 dogs per booking and they must be noted on the booking.

Both paddock sites and limited river spots are available. If planning to stay with friends and you wish to share a site only 1 booking is required, the sites are large, some up to 30m x 30m.

We will leave you entirely to yourselves but if you do need any help or information or even a little guided walking tour of the locality we are very happy to accommodate you. Our sauna deck is a shared area which guests are welcome to use, heating the sauna takes an hour or two, so just let us know and we will get it all ready for you with fresh towels, scented oils and branches of freshly cut lavender or wormwood to create a beautiful ambience.

WATERFRONT CAFES
Cockatoo Island features 2 family-friendly cafes (Cockatoo Overboard and Marina Cafe and Bar), both of which are licensed to serve alcohol and operate 7 days a week. BBQ packs are also available for pre-purchase from Cockatoo Overboard.
ACCESSING THE ISLAND
The easiest way to get to Cockatoo Island is by public ferry. The F3 and F8 services operate to Cockatoo Island daily, departing from Circular Quay and Barangaroo as well as from wharves along Parramatta River. Note: There is no vehicle access to or on the island.
CATERING
There are two cafes on the island, great for breakfast, coffee and lunch. For dinner you can BYO and use the camp kitchen with BBQs, toaster, microwave, instant hot water, fridges, or order pre-order BBQ packs from one of the cafes. Allow at least 24hrs notice for BBQ pack orders.

This property is a Pristine Riverfront property in Colo Valley. It is a tidal river with sandy shallow sandbars and 10ft deep swimming holes. There is an abundance of native animals here including bandicoots,kangaroos, lyre birds, lace monitors, platypus and more! Access is via a short dirt driveway to the riverfront camping area. The access is 2wd unless there has been significant rain it becomes 4wd access.
We accommodate the larger groups
just steps away from the river. We have 2 water entrances, one is a large grassed area with
shallow water which is great for kids & families. The other entrance is a natural sandy entry with a deeper swimming area .
We also have a beautiful lagoon area where I can arrange additional campers.
We have built some new flushing toilets (3) with a hot water shower.
We are very accommodating of your pets. We welcome dogs and can host horses in one of the paddocks. Please ensure you contact the host prior to your stay if you are bringing any pets
Additional activities here include fishing, swimming, bushwalking, canoeing & birdwatching. We are also only a
5 minute drive to Colo Riverside Cafe.

Rained a lot during our stay, and we still had a great time. The sheltered fireplace was amazing, and the fairy lights created a warm and homely space.
The fishing was fun. Mostly small bream, but we did manage to land and release a legally sized bream.
There was constant river traffic and road noise from across the river, but don't let that deter you from booking this top spot.
Megan and Trevor were both very responsive, and were excellent hosts. Also, their friendly, super cute sausage pups came to visit regularly - a welcomed bonus.

We’d definitely recommend this place! Debbie and Lambert were wonderful hosts, incredible welcoming and accommodating especially with our later check in. Debbie was available at all times for anything we needed and Lambert showed us around the amenities which included a very modern bathroom and kitchen inside a large shed that we were lucky to have to ourselves for two nights. Also had some games for the kids and a book of recommendations on things to explore around the area. Lots of mosquitoes though, bring repellent, you’ll need it.

Weekend Trip to Halifax Hill
Lovely shack creatively situated on a rocky outcrop beside the McDonald river.
It has all the charm of a yesteryear hideaway. It’s an experience not a polished hotel, think secret mountain recluse, take your book, your art stuff and a bottle of wine.
we loved the bush views and sounds, the location and the quirk!
Swimming in the river near by, zipping into town for a coffee or beer and enjoying the cute town of St Albans. Loved it so much we can’t wait to come back!

We have come back from an awesome couple of days at Jila Campground. Super location which is made incredible by being situated by the river. We spent most of our day floating up and down the slow moving river, watching the kids jump in and splash about. There were many (10) kids Kayaks down at the river for everyone to use. We had an absolute blast.
There are a few negative comments on here regarding the driveway and cow pats. Personally I would take them with a pinch of salt, neither were a problem for us.
We will definitely be back, bringing more friends to introduce them to Jila!!

We had a wonderful stay at this campsite. The surroundings were peaceful, clean, and well maintained. The view was stunning. The facilities, including bathrooms and shared areas, were tidy and easy to access. The staff were friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. We loved being so close to nature and would happily return in the future.

We absolutely loved camping here! River front camp-site, with power, shade, seating, cooking facilities and even a small sink at the site. But of a walk to the bathrooms though, but otherwise a lovely spot, and we intend to return again!

Lovely spot. The shade was perfect for the hot days. The kitchen made things much easier and was a good hideaway for the kids when we got a heavy storm with hail. The undercover seating area was helpful too, just be aware it is not weather proof. There was no water in the river unfortunately which made the hot days hard but a quick 15min drive to St Albans was perfect for a dip and a drink at the pub. Just to note - large dirt/dust area which became a mud pit with rain. Watch for low lying areas when pitching your tent as they all flooded with rain. We loved our stay and would recommend. I imagine this would be a great winter camping spot!

Beautiful, clean and private campsite with heaps of shade from the sun. We stayed with a family of 6 and could comfortably fit more in our allotted area.
Each camp came with its own fire pit, where they provided crates of wood for purchase, which we happily took advantage of to roast some marshmallows.
And even if you run out of marshmallows, Windsor is only half an hour away.
Though there were quite few other campers around the same time as us, we didn't feel cramped for space or feel like we had to wait long for the shared bathroom block.
The river, though not very deep, was nice to dip your feet into on those hot days.
Yara was a great host and we highly recommend camping here!

This is the best place we have ever camped & we are very well travelled. We absolutely loved it! Couldn’t fault it. The river is pristine with all different depths and temperatures, amazing river for all different aged kids!!! Kayaks & SUPs on site, has clean toilets, shower, rubbish & recycling, a soccer field, zip line, ninja course, taps, washing up station, undercover BBQ area was surprised. The animals made it super special, did read some reviews prior but we had no issues with cow poo or the driveway and we had two days of severe thunderstorms. They have earthmoving equipment on site & did driveway repairs. Free fruit from the orchard was a nice touch. Has 1 bar of reception on the river, but full reception at the top of the property. Was a digital detox, but easy reception if you need it so good. Close to service stations & a bottle shop etc so ice was easy. We will be back again and again. Kind of wish I didn’t post on my instagram got so many comments I might struggle to book in now ha ha
