Weekend Trip to Maiden Jewel Camping Wingen

We really enjoyed this very peaceful and scenic location and the fact that there was so much open space gave us all lots of privacy. It was conveniently located close to Scone but still very much 'in the country' with good road access with our caravans. We loved being able to have a fire and enjoyed the variety of birds and wildlife that were wandering around. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks

We stayed one night at Hillside Farm Stay on the way back from Tenterfield. The lovely Dawn took us up to the top of her property to see the horses, kangaroos and breathtaking views! The kids had a great time! Thanks again Dawn!

Dawns place is lovely and neat and tidy and had everything we were after , a hot shower and dog friendly . She even took the kids for a farm drive in the morning to go and explore her lands and look at all her animals ! We will definitely be back !

Weekend Trip to Roma Orchard - Hunter Valley

Absolutely perfect piece of land in a perfect part of NSW! Steven was so lovely and accomodating and happy to give us some great tips about the site. Even though it was super busy being a long weekend we felt safe and had enough privacy to ourselves. The bathroom and kitchen attached are also well clean and a welcome facility!

Great spot with a small number of campsites available, making it peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful views across the country with amazing sunsets. Firewood and a fire pit was provided to keep warm during the clear, but cool evenings. Excellent toilet and shower facilities, very clean and like new. Great location for exploring Tamworth and the surrounding towns, lots of walks and exploring to be had. Would highly recommend, one of the best camping spots that we have been to. Thanks Jenny for being very welcoming.

I loved camping at Dawn's property. It had all the facilities we needed. The fact it is a horse breeding property drew me to it.

1 night at Sheffield B&B Farm stay Tamworth

We loved camping in our van at Deb's palace. Such a wonderful friendly host and a beautiful property to share with families. Our kids loved feeding all the animals and could not wait to wake up and feed them all breakfast again the next morning. We would highly recommend staying here. Peaceful camping under the stars, yet close enough to town to explore the sights of Tamworth. We will def call in again next time we pass through Tamworth. Thankyou for such a lovely stay.

We had a fantastic stay at Oakey Farm! Jenny was a wonderful host — friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. Teddy the dog was the perfect companion for the kids, making our stay even more special. The family had an amazing time exploring the property and relaxing by the campfire. The toilet and shower amenities were spotless and conveniently located, making camping easy and comfortable. Highly recommend Oakey Farm for a memorable getaway!

Really enjoyed our stay at Hillside Farm. Dawn was really welcoming and sites had lovely views. As we have a caravan, we definitely required levelling ramps due to the slope of the paddock, but nothing unmanageable. Site had 2 flushing clean toilets, and the outdoor shower was awesome!! Would recommend as a great spot to stay outside of Tamworth.

I absolutely loved staying here. Getting to pet the horses and the farm cats was such a great bonus to camping in the beautiful scenery. Dawn was super helpful in explaining things to us when we arrived. It was a great base to go and explore Tamworth and Nundle. Would definitely come back!

We had a great time with Rachel and Gibbo. A lovely property to pitch your tent or park your van with hot showers and flushing toilets. The stars in the night sky by the campfire were amazing!

Amazing stay for our family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The Bell tent was great !!!! We loved the space, the property is quiet and well spread out. There were some Tent campers at one end of the property; which didn't bother us at all; as they where quite a good distance away. Can thank the host enough; he was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely book again.

The beauty of Maiden Jewel is unmatched. You get the choice of spectacular views no matter which direction you set up camp. The drive in really sets the tone. Jane is a wonderful and hands on host, very accommodating and offers a super fun buggy ride around her humongous property, which is full of fun and information on the history of the land, plants and animals, especially great for the kids! There are animals roaming, yet the grounds are clean! Woke up with very healthy looking cows mooing us a good morning, which was super cool. This is a peaceful, beautiful part of the world and is NOT for people looking to party, do everyone a favour and pick somewhere else if that’s what you’re after. If you want to wake up in heaven, spend the night at maiden jewel, we have already planned our next two trips back. Thank you Jane for a wonderful experience, thank you for sharing your home !

We are 12 kms from the New England Highway, 20 kms from both Wallabadah and Nundle, and 57 kms from Tamworth.Of the 3 towns, Nundle is the most historic - not surprising given its gold mining beginnings. But its been the grazing community on which its thrived since the latter part of the 19th century. Gold mining has largely been superseded by forestry and tourism, with Chaffey Dam providing a great playground for water sports, and Sheeba Dam in the natural beauty of Hanging Rock. The history of the region is told on the walls of the Peel Inn, which along with 'Glenoak', a once leading merino stud in the district, now cattle property, has been owned by the Schofield family since the 1860's. In the last 50 years, Robert and Margaret Schofield have been delivering a tasty combination of traditional Australian and Asian dishes, depending on the backgrounds of visiting chefs.Our property currently runs only a small number of sheep, soon to add goats for cheese production. Our adjoining neighbors run 800 head of Angus breeders.
