Canoelands Orchard Camping

9 sites · RVs, Tents81 acres · Canoelands, NSW
Canoelands Orchard Camping and Fruit Picking, is located just 1 hour from Sydney's CBD. The property is 81 acres in total with a small shop and cafe onsite. We offer pick your own fruit so are open to the public daily. We are surrounded by the stunning valley views of Marra Marra National Park. Guests can enjoy hiking, wandering the orchard picking fresh produce, taking a tractor ride, feeding the animals and relaxing. Please note we are a working farm so sometimes tractors and vehicles can be heard working from 7am. There will be foot traffic and possibly tractor rides operating near some of the sites although we will do our best to respect your privacy while you are here. We also have a quarry surrounding most of the property, so they sometimes operate machinery early. This is not generally too disruptive though. We are just 15 minutes' drive from the beautiful historical Wiseman's Ferry and the Hawkesbury River. There are multiple hiking tracks located close by. We have several sites to offer around the property. We have a beautiful huge dam just 350m down the gully. It’s super peaceful although a steep walk down the driveway to access, it's definitely worth it, so pack your walking shoes and some swimmers.

Your fully powered site has everything you could need. An environmentally friendly compost toilet (The brush tail possum sometimes decides it’s nice there), a quaint outdoor hot shower made from a huge sculpture, a rustic outdoor kitchen with BBQ and stainless steel benches (it’s out in the open - water from the tap goes into the garden). We try to make our spaces consistently inviting for birds and wildlife as well as humans. Here's a list of nearby things to do! - Redhead Beach (~5 mins) - Lake Macquarie (~5 mins) -Naru lagoon swimming (~15 mins) -Fernleigh track (~5 mins) - Green Point Walking track (~7 mins)

Wollombi Rolling Ridges

1 site · RV, Tent100 acres · Laguna, NSW
Ridgetop views evoke stillness and quiet to enjoy the abundant nature, from lyre birds, black cockatoos, wallabies, wombats, goannas as well as many different bird species depending on the season. October/November is flush with flannel flowers and other wild flowers thanks to bushfires and floods. Whilst the property is 100 acres, we also border Yengo State Forrest so if you're experienced hikers you can tramp until your hearts content without needing permission to cross private properties. The black summer bushfire regrowth is dense and difficult to travers. so I have cut in a loop walk to a rock ledge lookout (see pics) and there is also a 3km return walk to dry creek bed, boardered by pancake rock platforms and beautiful old trees. The access roads are dirt tracks which you can ride your bicycle but being on a ridge there is a steep climb back up. But no trailbikes allowed. Ideal for those who wish to immerse themselves in pristine nature while being only 1.5 hrs from Newcastle or Wahroonga (start of M1) There are 2 camping pads so if you are a group you can spread out but I want it to be private for each group I host, so even if you are only 2 people there won't be any other campers, hence the price is positioned to reflect this. We live simply in a Yurt on solar and rain water, apart from us, you will be the only campers so you are able to enjoy the quiet all to yourselves. (See pic 4 to see distance yurt is from camping pad). Have a 5 month old Border Collie Cross and training her to be well socialised around other dogs. If you are looking for a party, this is not the place for you. It's the place for stargazers and nature lovers. In the evenings, you won't hear us nor my neighbours so it's only fair that my neighbours don't hear you. No loud music allowed, being a ridge the noise travels and it scares away the wildlife. We're 15mins on dirt tracks from Wollombi village. 2WD vehicle needs high clearance and dry tracks, so check with me first. 4WD and AWD preferable. Dogs love roaming around off leash, if yours is good with recall, as there's no fencing. Children under 5yrs no charge. You may use our composting loo or bring your own camping loo. Our loo is about 100m walk from camping pad. (see pic 5 and 6) Please be aware only firepit/cooking fire is allowed from 1st October to 31st March. Firepit provided (see pic 7 ) or you can bring your own. Open bonfires allowed from 1st April to 30th Sept, as per state rules. Regardless of season all fires are Bushfire Rating Dependant. Cut firewood to fit firepit can be purchased, please let me know in advance. Alternatively you can roam around and collect what has fallen on the ground.

Cave camping near Pretty Beach guide

Overview

A suburb in the central coast area of New South Wales, Pretty Beach lives up to its name with pristine shorelines that face Brisbane Water. Stay in town at waterfront caravan parks, or venture outside of Pretty Beach campgrounds for more opportunities in nature. Bouddi National Park is a unique combination of beaches, bushland, Aboriginal heritage sites, and tent pitches with private firepits. Or head to Brisbane Water National Park—it’s an ancient landscape of wildflower fields and rainforest with winding walking tracks, including part of the Great North walk. Across Broken Bay, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park offers a look into more Aboriginal culture, as well as walking tracks, creeks, an old lighthouse, and cabin rentals with terraces along the shoreline.

Where to go

Bouddi National Park

Comprising the area immediately surrounding Pretty Beach, Bouddi National Park is made up of a diverse landscape of beaches, heathlands, cliffsides, and rainforest. Go swimming, fishing, or kayaking along the beaches. Or take walking tracks and biking trails through the park to significant Aboriginal heritage sites, wildflower fields, and even an old shipwreck. Bouddi Coastal Walk is renowned as one of the most beautiful walking tracks in the region, measuring 8 kilometres from Macmasters Beach to Putty Beach. Spend the night at tent campsites nearby, providing amenities like potable water, composting toilets, picnic tables, private firepits, and rubbish bins.

Brisbane Water National Park

Northwest of Pretty Beach, Brisbane Water National Park’s walking and cycling tracks take campers through scenic views and hundreds of Aboriginal rock engraving sites. Hiking trails throughout the park range from short loops to overnight treks. The park even hosts part of the Great North walk, from Wondabyne to Patonga and Patonga to Pearl Beach. Over 270 animal species make their habitats in the park as well, including rare and threatened birds like the glossy black cockatoo and spotted tail quoll. Caravan, camper trailer, and tent camping are available nearby and provide amenities such as flush toilets, potable water, hot showers, and dog-friendly campsites.

Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park

Across Broken Bay, Ku-ring-gai National Park is the second oldest national park in Australia. It combines scenic views, natural beauty, and important historical sites. Bushwalking tracks and mountain-biking trails lead through the creeks, rainforests, eucalypts, and mangroves of the park. Or explore Aboriginal heritage through engravings and rock art at Red Hands Cave. Visit Barrenjoey Lighthouse to learn about the area’s maritime history as well. Campsites near the park provide all the amenities necessary for an adventure, including flush toilets, potable water, hot showers, and shared cooking equipment. Along with tent pitches, terraces and cabins are available for peaceful, private, beachfront escapes.

When to go

Summer is the most popular time to visit Pretty Beach with the sun, sand, and surf setting a scene for swimming and snorkelling. Spring is also ideal as it brings a wealth of vibrant wildflowers and blooming fields in the area. Winters in Pretty Beach are mild, with July temperatures averaging about 16°C. However, winters are also particularly popular for whale watching as humpback whales make their way northward from May to July, making Pretty Beach a great year-round camping destination.
