Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo, and a short drive to swimming at Turon and Coorongooba National Parks, sightseeing at Glen Davis, bird watching near Glen Alice and the terrific cafe ‘From the Paddock’.
Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!)
Our road has ‘roll overs’, rocks and a couple of tight turns on large gradients so you need a vehicle with 20cm+ clearance.
If you are towing a camper trailer, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently.
Each campsite is a VERY long way from other sites - usually about 800m.
Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 950 acres of untouched bush.
You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks.
Rocklee is a good site for star gazing.
Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp.
Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful.
There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use existing fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you.
(You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks. Sorry!)

The farm features a hempcrete building named 'The Stinking Rose' used for drying and curing garlic, that also acts as a big room for garlic feasts during planting (March, April and May each year). The building also houses toilet and shower facilities for guests when camping on site. On some evenings, the sky puts on a real show of golden sun rays with pink, purple and blue clouds while swallows flit across the garden beds catching moths. Also please note that due the closure of the Great Western Highway there is currently an increase in traffic volume going past our property. Our usually quite nights are not as quiet. The campers I have had since this has happened did not seem to be too impacted by it, but if you are wanting complete quietness then maybe wait until the Highway is re-opened.
Our property is located in the Blue Mountains, nestled right in the middle of the national park and all that the Blue Mountains bush has to offer. Gums, ferns, fresh air and swimming holes.
I only allow one group to camp at any one time per site. Other groups will be well away from you. However the dam is available for everyone to use. I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups.
Just a short drive from Sydney (1 ½ hours from Parramatta) but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. Please note that the canyon photos are from a spot that is very difficult to get to.
I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost.
The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Please message me if you're interested in booking one or more listings for your special get together.
Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, but no cats please. Also please be aware that we are surrounded by nature and part of nature are the snakes and ticks.
- we need to keep this environment for the wildlife. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. Leave it better than as you found it.
Please be aware that due to our proximity to the road and rail that at times you will hear some traffic noise. But most times it is very quiet except for the frogs.

There is ample space for groups, with wide open spaces but also plenty of trees for shade. Fires are permitted in the spots provided and according to local fire restrictions.
The creek is a good spot to try some gold panning, go exploring and also has some deep swimming holes for you to enjoy.
Pitch your tent or pull up your camping vehicle next to our creek! You will have complete privacy, only the kangaroos and other wildlife to share your trip with.
There is plenty of space for the kids to run around, kick a ball, play some cricket, or go exploring along the creek during the day. In the evenings everyone can sit and relax in the quiet in front of a campfire.
We welcome only self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. The campsite is 2WD accessible with plenty of room and flat space to camp on.
Not far from our property you can find the Bridle Track, which is very well known by 4WD enthusiasts. It was originally built as the first road between Bathurst and Hill End during the gold rush era, and was given its name due to horsemen having to dismount and guide their horses by the bridle through the very narrow sections.
If you visit in November you may be here for the annual Marmalade Festival, with good weather, musicians, stalls and of course jams and marmalades!

The camping area has a fantastic shelter/camp kitchen with internal fireplace, wood fired stove, sink, running water & a preparation area together with a gas BBQ & large dining table with bench seats.
There is hot water and an open air shower. A long drop toilet is located nearby. At night the shelter is lit by solar powered lights & the glow of the campfire. The shelter is accessible by 4WD. Dogs are not permitted. Limited firewood is provided.
Firewood can be purchased at $50 for a generous bundle. It is not possible to know how much firewood is required for your stay so during winter please take this into consideration.

More than 50 different cold climate seasonal vegetables and flowers are grown on 3 acres and sold at the Bathurst Farmers' Markets, as well as from the farm gate shop and box deliveries around town. You can preorder a box of veges for your dinner. Watch the daily goings on of planting and harvesting, or get involved and learn all about permaculture - workshops and/or volunteering available.
(Please note that this is an urban farm beside the train line on the edge of town, not a wilderness, so some industrial noises and trains can sometimes be heard around the clock.)
Bathurst shops, restaurants and Mt Panorama are just 5 minutes drive away. Explore our heritage as Australia's oldest inland city, and there is a lovely little pastry cafe right around the corner.

Rubbish bin provided which was awesome. Close to railway line but did not seem to hear too many trains. Slept well. Dog friendly. Fantastic communication by Kurt & Megan.

Our stay at Raglan Ranch exceeded every expectation we had! The location was absolutely stunning, we had complete privacy and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but still only a 10 minute drive in to the CBD.
What really made our trip so memorable though was our hosts Kurt & Megan!! These guys are the most lovely, kind, exceptional people you could ever dream of meeting. Their hospitality was second to none and when we had some issues with our caravan they didn’t hesitate to go out of their way to help in every possible way.
I truely can’t speak highly enough of these beautiful people and I hope we get the chance to visit again soon!

My site was away from ammenities and dump point, and noticed there were a lot of free camps closer to these points. Camp was quiet and when full, would be very crowded and difficult to manoevure large vehicles into allotted spots. Friendly staff and well maintained from what I could see driving to find the dump point.

We have really enjoyed our two nights stay here. Even though it's a residential area you wouldn't even know. It feels like you're on a peaceful farm but only 8km from Bathurst. Kurt and Megan have been so helpful and very responsive to messages. Megan and her son even came to introduce themselves and say hi which was nice ❤️they also have a handful of goats which the kids loved and we could even feed them our scraps.
Highly recommend staying here if you want to explore Bathurst and the surrounds!!!

What a great little flat spot to park up just out of Bathurst. We felt super safe here after reading reviews of other places in town. Kurt met us as we drove in and was really helpful. Highly recommend.

What a great spot to have as a base while exploring the Bathurst area!! This really is everything we look for when travelling when all you need is a safe location to leave the van while you go adventuring and seeing the local sites. Access to site is easy and the sites are level and maintained nicely. Definitely will be back when we are in the area for the numerous events Bathurst has on throughout the year. Well done!!!!
