Please be aware there is river noise during our busy times on weekends so may not suit those looking for tranquillity on weekends. During the week it's fine but weekends are busy and a bit noisy. Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts. The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today. Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

Otford is a historic village in a valley between Sydney and Wollongong, and bounded by the Pacific ocean. Our private acreage backs onto the southern tip of the Royal National Park, so the outlook from the campsite is all leafy trees. La Cascina is a small property on a hill surrounded by trees and bushland. There are two main camping areas which would suite tent and small to medium van/car camping. There is access to neighbouring bushland with nice short walks available in the area. Only 20 minutes by car to Newcastle CBD, 10 minutes by car to Redhead Beach and 5 minutes by car to Lake Macquarie. La Cascina is a great spot to stop overnight on a road trip or to get away for the weekend to relax. We have no toilets so please bring your own. The access to the property is a steep sealed driveway. Site 1 is an open site with plenty of shade. The area is flat. More suited to larger camping setups. This site is less private. There is vision of the neighbouring property and an overflow campsite 50 meters away. Site 2 is a more uneven surface area which is better for smaller vans and tents. Redhead Beach is the closest dog beach 10 minutes by car. Croudace Bay is a dog park on the lake which is 5 minutes by car. This is a family owned acreage that brings the best parts of environmental living with the benefits of being close to the coast and a city. A very long time ago it was the site of a quarry. The nature has returned and we are left with a beautiful forested acreage.

Plus of a night time stop and look up into the lovely night sky while listening to the abundance of frogs, crickets and other noises that come alive. If you are wanting to have a fire you are more then welcome and you can go for a walk about to collect as many pieces of wood on the ground. Don’t forget to collect a good marshmallow stick! While you are on the property and if you want to be apart of any extra activities you see please don’t hesitate to ask. If you are wanting to explore and head off property and explore the local area there is an array of things to do some close and some further away. We are 40 minutes out from the heart of Hunter Valley wine country, minutes away from a few local beaches; Norah Head, Catherine Hill Bay, Soldiers Beach or Caves Beach. All have cafes or pubs close. If you are wanting to head to the bush the Watagan Mountains which are our backdrop has endless picnic spots/look outs etc where you can enjoy driving, walking, dirt/push bike tracks or if you have a specific mountain bike buzz you can head to Awaba Mountain Bike trail. Brightwater sits beside Olney State Forest and Kuluwan Flora Reserve. It is a 50-acre farm with a lovely spring-fed dam, with our nearby campsite. The site contains van parking, an open pavilion, an open deck by the stream, a fire pit, and a dunny. It is private and secluded, and with just one group staying at a time, you are guaranteed the space to yourselves. Please go straight ahead on Collins Ave and enter through the car entrance, NOT the truck entrance which is off to the right. If you come in the truck entrance I can't see you. There are many beautiful walking and bike trails in the area. Lots of wildlife to meet, including water dragons, wild ducks, and pythons, to name a few. There is also nearby evidence of the original occupants, the Darkinjung people. You are also welcome to bring a couple of horses! There's a safe paddock with a trough and nice trails in the area to explore. The Kulnura General Store and bottleshop is just 9km down the road for basic supplies.

The forest has a beautiful creek and waterfall, perfect for a day trip. The property is conveniently located 1 hour from Sydney and just a 2 minute drive to groceries, food and a pharmacy and 7 minutes from the pub and a doctor. Brightwater sits beside Olney State Forest and Kuluwan Flora Reserve. It is a 50-acre farm with a lovely spring-fed dam, with our nearby campsite. The site contains van parking, an open pavilion, an open deck by the stream, a fire pit, and a dunny. It is private and secluded, and with just one group staying at a time, you are guaranteed the space to yourselves. Please go straight ahead on Collins Ave and enter through the car entrance, NOT the truck entrance which is off to the right. If you come in the truck entrance I can't see you. There are many beautiful walking and bike trails in the area. Lots of wildlife to meet, including water dragons, wild ducks, and pythons, to name a few. There is also nearby evidence of the original occupants, the Darkinjung people. You are also welcome to bring a couple of horses! There's a safe paddock with a trough and nice trails in the area to explore. The Kulnura General Store and bottleshop is just 9km down the road for basic supplies.

The forest has a beautiful creek and waterfall, perfect for a day trip. The property is conveniently located 1 hour from Sydney and just a 2 minute drive to groceries, food and a pharmacy and 7 minutes from the pub and a doctor. A 30 minutes form town and close to attractions such as Glenworth Valley and Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary. Also Markets every 2nd and 4th Weekend. The site currently does not have toilets or electrical facilities, but something we are working on. So please bring your own toilet and take with you.

Nestled under the Watagan mountains escarpment in the Hunter valley, the property has some amazing views in all directions, but still remains secluded and hidden from view. The property has been selectively cleared to maintain a balance of open land and untouched bushland which has a boundary to the Watagans National Park. The animal life is very diverse as many species transition from the Watagans into the property and many live on site full time. These include flocks of amazing bird species such as Gang gang and Black Cockatoos, resident Wedge tailed eagles, Kookaburras, finches, honey eaters, Coucals, Lyrebirds and more. Wallabies of various types are common, and Sugar gliders can be seen on the flowering Eucalypts. The camping areas for RV's sit on a large elevated flat area that border a large gorge with broken views towards the Hunter Valley vineyards. The Gorge (or Canyon) is rimmed by caves and has rainforest type trees in the bottom. The caves can be explored and the rainforest can be walked if you are fit! The tent and camper trailer areas are terraced into an area of slight slope with a number of sites to chose from. Non potable water taps are available at each caravan site and at intervals in the camping area. This water is clear fresh dam or bore water and can be used for showers, washing up etc. Two flush toilets are available for use by both RV's and campers. There is a central fire pit. We have a private site which has open views over the Hunter Valley to the Vineyards and beyond to the Barrington tops. This site has a cliff edge pool that comfortably fits up to 4 people for a dip. This area has a large fire pit that can be used to heat the pool in winter. This site has its own flushing toilet and Shower. This site is best suited to a caravan as it is terraced, though it would be possible to setup tents or a camper van in this location also. This can also be booked as a group site. 16minutes to Cessnock, 25minutes to the M1, 2.25 hours to Sydney central and 25 minutes to Pokolbin. The location is generally very peaceful with all sorts of wildlife. There is plenty of ground sticks for fire wood and bulk timber for purchase.

You will have access to the entire property during your stay, complete privacy. Staying here, you are completely hidden from any other man made structure, immersed in nature. The property is located less than 2 hours from Sydney, 20 mins from Cessnock and the Hunter wineries, adjacent to Sugarloaf Conservation area. You'll love the morning and evening birdsong and be surrounded by the colour green by day. At night, be lulled by the music of the froggy symphonies, watch the moon rise over the forrest, and being mesmerised by the warmth and dancing light of a fire. Wallabies visit at dusk and dawn and a Koala has been heard calling at night. A 1km drive from the main road leads to the open living space. There are two cabins, just within sight of each other, a campsite with an outdoor kitchen shed and a large oval lawn. The Sky Cabin (blue) has a very comfortable queen size bed, a large deck, bbq, composting toilet, small equipped kitchen, solar lighting, hot and cold running water, an outdoor hot shower, and slow combustion fireplace inside. The Earth Cabin has an exceptionally comfortable queen size bed, deck, composting toilet, solar lighting, a slow combustion fireplace inside and running water outside a short distance away. If you want to include Belle tents in your booking rather than bring your own you have the option to add those to your booking and we will set them up for you with lighting included, though you will need to BYO beds and bedding. The campsite adjacent to the shed has running water, an outdoor shower and outdoor toilet. The property has short (circular) walks through the bush, and access to Sugarloaf Conservation area (with further walks and access to the Great North Walk). But its the ideal place to just chill.
