Hi and welcome to Vista 180.
Vista 180 is our little property situated on the outskirts of town, with 180-degree rural farmland vistas from East to West, that overlooks the Hunter River nearby.
If you're looking for somewhere in a rural setting that has flat to very gently sloping grass paddock areas to set up your tent, camper, caravan or motorhome then this is the place to stay. Our paddock has easy access for vehicles large or small, 2wd or 4wd, with all the conveniences offered in town nearby. Gaze over the farmlands, watch glorious sunrises, sunsets and checkout the stars!
Located at Aberglasslyn, being on the outskirts of town without streetlights, it feels like you're miles away whereas we're only just over the hill from a shopping centre with a Chemist, Supermarket, Doctor, Vet and Café. A few minutes gets you into Maitland, 30 minutes to the Hunter Valley Vineyards at Lovedale/Pokolbin, 1hr to Newcastle, Nelson Bay and many of the glorious beaches on the east coast.
We are within the catchment area for courtesy buses to the local hotels and bowling club. The vineyard concert (Day On The Green, Red Hot Summer etc) buses pickup from one of these hotels.
You can access the Hunter River (approx 200m) for fishing, swimming or explore the river by kayaking the 11km into Maitland or the 21km downstream from Luskintyre. Pickup/delivery could be arranged with notice.
Ride a pushbike along the backroads exploring the area, following on the bike paths, Walka Waterworks, historical buildings and points of interest in Maitland.
It’s an easy 15 minute walk down the lane or back into the shopping centre.
Whilst we welcome your pets, we ask that they are on a leash as there is cattle, sheep, horses, chooks and birdlife around us. Please pickup after them!
Your own toilet is a necessity.
Campfires (when conditions permit) are to be in the provided firepits.

As a family of 4 in a caravan, we loved this spot. Very conveniently located close drive to shops, green hills mall, and places to dine. Access was good. Nice flat spot to park. Power and water their as option. The hosts are so lovely. We had an afternoon storm with the concern of hail and Andrew kindly made room in the shed for our car. He shared his plans that this shed will shortly have accessible shelter for campers.
We will definetly pull up here again.

Our host, Andrew greeted us on arrival and was very friendly.
Our dog loved the space too!
Only downside was the amount of horse manure lying around. Would recommend this hi-camp for sure!

We had a great time at Margaret's land, she and all her team, specially Russell where the best. We have the place to ourselves with beautiful views and freedom for our kids. If you are looking for a farm place to stay, this is great as you are in an actual horse and cattle farm. They have many other extra services available like tractor rides, horse rides, pony rides, animal feeding. You have Greta in a short drive within a small drive distance and they can even give you a 10% discount on meals at the thirsty horse becausr you are staying at Margaret's place.

We had an awesome long weekend at Poppy’s Dam Paddock — literally camped right in front of the dam. Beautiful view, peaceful vibes, and not a single snake, lizard, or mutant-sized bug to ruin it. Perfect.
Now, let’s talk about the cows. Yes, the paddock is basically a land of freedom… for cow poo. It’s everywhere. But don’t panic — just **don’t camp under the trees** (cows love hanging out there), and **ask the staff for help**. They have this magical machine — a smash mower — that trims the grass and turns the cow pats into organic dust. Do **not** try to move them yourself unless you want to meet their entire worm family.
Toilets and showers were portable but clean — absolutely no complaints there.
We also tried two wineries nearby:
🍷 **Wandin Valley Estate** – Their red wines were great. Highly recommend!
🍷 **Gartelmann Wines** – If you want to try something different and adventurous, this is your spot. Honestly, most of their wines weren’t my taste — they customise them a lot — but it’s definitely an experience.
Overall, we loved it and would totally come back (now that we know how to dodge cow landmines).

We had a wonderful weekend exploring the local area around Putty and spending time on the farm. The owner, James, was easygoing and shared his knowledge of Putty and the best places to go explore nearby. There were friendly dogs on the property and our pups had a great time playing with them and swimming in the dam to cool off. The property was nicely maintained so we didn’t need to worry about our dogs finding a danger noodle in long grass, and we were able to find a nice spot just for us to camp amongst nature. Definitely recommend this stay for a private, quiet, enjoyable country experience.
