C Colo - just beautiful

Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts. The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today. Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

Good Paddock is located just 5 minutes out of town with a beautiful little fresh water creek. The property has access to mountain to a mountain hike, 4WD trails and glow worm tunnel access. The paddock is flat and grassy, any type of tent or van can be set up around a campfire. This paddock used to be inhabited by Miners and locals, so you will find bomb shelters, rail tracks and other little historical objects in the ground. There are distant neighbours past the trees. At the top of the mountain there is a breathtaking view of the whole town. This site is close to many gems of the area and there are many 4WD trails. Pets are welcome but must be kept under control and cleaned up after. Campfires are also permitted when there is no restrictions in place.

Mountain Lagoon Camping & Glamping

Located at Bilpin, this beautiful campsite is nestled at the foot of the majestic Blue Mountains and backs onto Wollemi National Park. This magical 16 acres is abundant with wildlife and where you camp is the mouth to the beginning of some great hiking tracks in the National Park! There are a few great campsites to choose from- one at the top of the property (good for families/large groups up to approx 20) with good flat ground and surrounded by a lush forest. It's close to the road so it is easy access in and out, another two at the back with water views and one in the forest (If you have 4wd and portable loo we can give you an exclusive spot in the bottom of the golden gorge). Enjoy the sounds of the bubbling stream and see the sunset at the waterhole. Sit back and relax around the campfire whilst toasting a marshmallow or some damper. This campsite offers a unique heptagonal toilet (no shower yet but its on the way). Please ensure you're fully self sufficient with all other supplies (including water). From here you can explore the amazing Blue Mountain views, marvel at a magical glow worm dell, check out the 2 apple cider breweries and taste some of the region's delicious produce. Colo River is 30 mins away, a clear waterhole is 10 min drive ( 4wd only- hosts can transport if available), the mouth of a hiking trail to the National Park is on the property, the main township of Bilpin is close by with the baker, fruit and vege picking, Mountain Bells Cafe (host recommendation), apple pies galore and the restaurant , the markets are on Saturday morning 10-12 noon at the local hall and there is a free meditation group 9am Sunday at the monastery. With so much to do you will need more than one night or plan a return visit to the amazing Mountain Lagoon Hideaway at Bilpin! We can also offer massage and reiki treatments on site as a 'nature immersion' experience or if you prefer it can be in the privacy of a massage studio (10 mins away), guided nature and wildlife walks/sunset walks or longer hikes, professional ecology tours, fire twirling lessons or performance and African drumming lessons, games for the kids, local produce hampers, eggs and BBQS (with notice and if hosts are available). Please discuss with your hosts for further details and availability :) PLEASE ensure you read rules and safety as well as directions, because GPS will take you to the wrong property. The land is a nature retreat and developing animal rescue sanctuary so we love to share the space with respectful nature loving people :) Our motto is leave no trace. We look forward to welcoming you to our unique and magical slice of paradise! 🪵 IMPORTANT : Only use rock circles for fire. Fire must be put out if you 1) Leave the site each day 2) Each night before bed and 3) When you leave completely. This is a strict policy due to being in a National Park and to protect the precious nature and wildlife. Two buckets of water are supplied for this purpose. Sticks in the buckets for animals to safely exit if they fall in. Whats App us with plenty of notice if you need more water. If it is hot weather or windy there may be a TOTAL FIRE ban. 4WD /SUV - Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area. Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo. Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks, untouched bush, and two ephemeral creeks (meaning they sometimes have water and sometimes don’t). Access is 4wd only, through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks. Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp. Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown and fences have come down, and there are wombat holes. Some areas of road across our property have wombat holes so drive slowly and be careful. There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace.

Our property is located in the Blue Mountains, nestled right in the middle of the national park and all that the Blue Mountains bush has to offer. Gums, ferns, fresh air and swimming holes. I only allow one group to camp at any one time per site. Other groups will be well away from you. However the dam is available for everyone to use. I adjust each booking with each group depending on size of the group and time of year. I also hold large events so will book out the entire site for large groups. Just a short drive from Sydney but a world away with its ancient forests and meandering pathways. All photos are from the site or within a 2km walk of the camping site in National Park or reserve. I welcome self-contained campers with your own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. However there are facilities on site for smaller groups at an extra cost. The property offers a number of sites that can accommodate various group numbers. Please message me if you're interested in booking one or more listings for your special get together. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly, but no cats please. Also please be aware that we are surrounded by nature and part of nature are snakes and ticks. - we need to keep this environment for the wildlife. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. Leave it better than as you found it. Please be aware that due to our proximity to the road and rail that at times you will hear some traffic noise. But most times it is very quiet except for the frogs.

Little Creek Retreat

The Little Creek Retreat is conveniently located 1km north of Lithgow town centre at the end of the road nestled at the bottom of the valley near a pretty little creek. It sits next to the heritage state mine which you may view and have tours on the weekend. We have recently opened our first cozy site with outdoor seating and cooking area fire pit with free firewood for up to 6 people. Feel free to pet our miniature goats. They are very friendly. Please ask before feeding them! One private camping toilet is available for use. Local kangaroos sometimes drop by. Plenty of wildlife with kookaburras, parrots, currawongs and even a shy wombat. Mini goats are sometimes on the property as well. There are many amazing local bush walks and plenty of fascinating history and things to do. Space for one car, tent, caravan or trailer 10m x 4m wide clear flat area with easy access next to outdoor seating and fire pit. 2 minute drive to cafes and shops and town centre, bus stop is 100m away, train station 1 km away. We are conveniently close to town so you may hear occasional noise yet mostly quiet. Lithgow tourism centre has plenty of information and activities to do. There are scenic lookouts, climbing, canyoning, bike trails or simply relax with great eateries and historical sites. Fires are permitted when there are no RFS bans in place. Note: there is no water on the property so you will need to allow enough to ensure you have completely extinguished your fire before you depart. It is ok to collect fallen kindling, no chain sawing of trees. Wood is provided free of charge for small fires only. If you use the kindling please play if forward and collect for the next person. If you need more wood simply message me. There is a camping toilet with toilet paper and hand sanitizer supplied. Well behaved pets are welcome and we encourage you to keep your dog on a lead if they are likely to adventure too far from your site and disturb the local wildlife or other campers. No cats as there are many native birds. Please take all your belongings and rubbish with you when you leave. If you are interested in free accommodation, we are open to exchange labour as they is always plenty to do on the farm.

Our farm experiences are fabulous for individuals, couples, families and even large groups (we’ve also hosted hens weekends). Mckeown’s Rest, situated at Kenzell Farm is a bnb available for overnight stays. Camping is also available via Hipcamp.We have drinking water available for campers, however, no toilets or showers so you'll need to bring your own camp loo and take all waste with you. Pets welcome but to be kept on a lead, please and poop picked up. You are welcome to have fires in the provided drum/firepit. Wood is provided and can also be collected from the property for use during your stay.
