Weekend Trip to Joadja Gorge Retreat & Camping

Absolutely loved staying here. The Paddock has plenty of room and well maintained. It had a lovely fire pit set up and lots of firewood to collect. Leanne was so friendly and made the effort to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed and knew where the toilet and firewood was. The toilet was clean and well maintained. The naturewalks were stunning as well. The perfect place to relax and unwind. I’m looking forward to coming back.

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our recent camping trip! The weather was perfect despite the forecast for rain, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our host, Garth, was incredibly friendly and active, making sure we had everything we needed from firewood to making sure we were comfortable in our location on the grounds. The open fire was a hit with the whole family, and the views were simply breathtaking. The location offered a small dam with a perfect fishing spot where one of the kids caught their first fish, plenty of open space, and the added charm of a cheeky sheep, dogs, and chickens that made the experience. It’s truly a child-friendly haven where everyone can enjoy the outdoors. This trip has definitely moved to the top of our list amongst the top 3 camping spots we’ve visited. Thank you, Garth, for making it such a memorable experience!

Beautiful location, close to Goulburn but far enough away from the town to see the beautiful stars. The hosts are friendly and can never do enough for you. They helped start the fire for us and we had a great chat with them. We have told others of this place. It's worth the visit. We hope to come back again!

Amazing country to camp on and the views were amazing. Didn't make our way down to the creek though sadly, but I imagine it would be amazing. The host Stuart, was great easy to chat with and checked in with us each day via message or coming past the site to ensure we had enough provision/firewood. Would recommend.

Weekend Trip to Jamberoo Mountain Farm Camp

Beautiful spot overlooking the valley — we were lucky with the weather and got to enjoy a stunning sunset followed by some amazing stargazing at night. Super quiet and private with breathtaking views, exactly what we were after. There was also a lovely horse on the property we got to say hello to, which was a nice little bonus. Natalie was super helpful and communicative, and all the instructions were clear and easy to follow. The surrounding area was great too — we hadn’t planned on visiting Jamberoo Action Park but ended up going on a spontaneous trip there, which was a fun surprise! We also really enjoyed the local cafes and nearby town. The site is priced a little higher than others we've stayed at, but considering the location, privacy, and stunning views, it felt like a worthwhile splurge. We were aware of the lack of amenities (no toilet, water, or fire pit) before booking, and were mainly after the view — which absolutely delivered.

Beautiful view and peaceful place. It is right next to the scenic drive, a wonderful area with lots of animals. It was nice to feed the horse with Natalie, the kids loved that!

An excellent location to camp and let the kids run wild. Hosts were excellent and provided an archery target and came over and chopped up some wood for the fire. Highly recommended

2 nights at Hope's View Retreat

A well-kitted out hut in beautiful surroundings - a forest glade with all sorts of gorgeous details to explore (signs & mini ponds & benches; fruit trees and night lights). It was fun to use the fire pit at night to toast marshmallows. Tammy and Carol were very friendly and have made a book of local sights.

1 night at Windawalla

Our stay at Valley View was such a treat! We had a place to ourselves on top of the hill and the view was pretty spectacular. Garth and Joanne were such great hosts, and we couldn’t recommend this place enough. We plan to stay again on our way back north!

Incredibly beautiful and wild property - felt like we were camping in a national park all by ourselves. There is water and composting toilet amenities which was a bonus. And walking distance down to a pristine river for swimming. Highly recommend if you’re looking for some peace and quiet !

Weekend Trip to Joadja Gorge Retreat & Camping

What a beautiful little part of the world! The Sunset camp site at the Joadja Gorge Camping Retreat is situated out of the way in private with such a good little lookout into the wilderness below. Beautiful big campfire site which is great for relaxing around or cooking up a storm and plenty of firewood too. A nice amount of room for a small family or plenty of room for a couple to relax. Dog friendly and the pups that are on the property are so lovely! A short walk through nature to the area toilet and outdoor shower, which a so clean and well maintained. Access to pre-prepared platters or grazing plates and beautiful wine that’s all supplied by local businesses from the area. The seafood platter in particular is so yummy and paired with a white wine from Artemis winery. Awesome bush walks around the property and into an incredible gorge with running water well below. Cannot wait to come back and relax in such a beautiful place away from all the hustle and bustle.

The space was amazing. We asked to move to a different space (as I made a mistake when booking when catering for our toddler) & Ian was more than accommodating. Beautiful space, perfect to have a private fire and enjoy the serenity of nature. The extras like an axe and generator made life so much easier. Would 10/10 recommend Ian as a host and his space.

We loved staying at Upper Terrace at Mellows Ridge. Ian has been really nice and helpful sharing recommendations to do in the area. We definitely recommend doing the 40 min hike to the top of the rocky ridge. We had no rain to driving uphill was easy but it can be challenging if visiting with rainy weather.

This property is located in one of the most spectacular areas on the Clyde River, with fantastic river frontage. The land is uniquely located between Pigeon House, Byangee Walls, and The Castle and The Budawang Wilderness Area, so makes a fantastic basecamp for those wanting to explore this beautiful part of the Morton National Park. The property is ideal for those keen on paddling, fishing, walking, listening to the many bird species, or simply absorbing the beautiful energy of this natural retreat. Please be advised that it is approximately 45mins to an hour to the entrance of the access rd, from either Milton, the beginning of Wheelbarrow rd or Monkey Mountain rd. It is also roughly the same coming via Western Distributor from Kings Highway Once on these roads a vast part of your drive will be on dirt, and may be a little testing in wet weather, however you will discover some much natural beauty when you arrive at your destination Please also note that there is no reception in this area, the closest place for phone reception is at Pigeon House Mountain. Mellows Ridge

Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2024, all the trails on the property have been massively upgraded and are passable with a 2WD car. If you're towing or it's wet we still recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. We've just (mid December) added a spa half way up the driveway. It can be booked through the extras. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Wombat Hollow

Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. The Gulf

The Gulf is a 965-acre property situated near Wombeyan Caves in NSW. It's a fantastic property and wider region to explore, and enjoy an authentic Aussie bush camping experience. There's the Gulf Creek nearby that you can get to by 4x4 or you can go fishing, bushwalking, swimming, bike riding or horse riding. We offer two camping areas, that have enough space for multiple groups. One is higher up with great views, and access for caravans and camper trailers and the like. The other camping area is down by the creek but really only accessible for those with a 4X4, swags, rooftop tents etc. Plenty of fallen timber you are welcome to collect for firewood. Jamberoo Mountain Farm Camp

Our property is located in Jamberoo on an elevated working beef cattle farm with unique and beautiful views. We accept bookings with a maximum of 2 nights per stay. Our campsite is best suited to couples or families who would to explore the local area then chill out in the quiet and peaceful surrounds of our place. Take a breathe and enjoy the amazing vista. The large grassy site has stunning ocean views and is the perfect spot to relax after exploring all the great activities the surrounding area has to offer or play some outdoor sports if you bring a ball. We are a working farm and have three farm dogs, horses and cattle on the property along with plenty of wildlife. The camp site is approximately 75 metres frome the house. It is in view of he house however we do have a busy life,so you won't see us much unless you need something. We are only a short drive to Kiama and the stunning beaches of the south coast. Kiama has a great market on each month where you can check out the local offerings and enjoy a stroll along the esplanade or check out the famous Kiama blowhole and lighthouse. We are with easy reach of the Budderoo National Park which is full of stunning walks and waterfalls that are always popular. We are a short drive to the Jamberoo Action Park and Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk which are both great places to visit for kids and families. Please note our dogs can sometimes bark during the night as they are protecting the house and areas nearby. You must bring your own portable toilet. You are unable to bring your own dogs. Our site maximum is 2. Sites are opened at short notice when weather permits and not in conflict with farm activities. Weather permitting sites are generally available XMAS, NYE and Easter.

Fill your days swimming in the creek, exploring the property on foot, on mountain-bike, set up yabbie traps in the dams, or sit back and relax listening to the abundant birdlife that calls Forestvale home and keep your binoculars and camera handy for the visiting wildlife including wombats and kangaroos. Forestvale Farm is a working farm and you are welcome to view whatever activities are happening during your visit, or head out beyond the farm gate to visit the Taralga Zoo, stock up on fresh organic produce grown by our neighbours, dine on hearty pub dinners in town, or fish for trout on the Abercrombie River just up the road. Campfires are permitted (subject to prevailing bushfire risk conditions) but please speak to your hosts before lighting one. They must be kept contained and at a reasonable size. Pets are welcome but must be kept restrained at all times to protect stock and wildlife. Guests will be asked to leave if their dog is not restrained.
