Weekend Trip to Rolling Hills & Riverside Camping

Perfect Murray Getaway – Rain, Fire, and Fishing! We had an awesome weekend at this Hipcamp spot by the Murray. The rain didn’t bother us one bit… it actually added to the atmosphere! We fished, relaxed by the river, and had a roaring fire each night. There’s plenty of wood around if you’re up for chopping it yourself. A great, peaceful spot to unwind. We’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic, such a beautiful place with amazing scenery. The hosts were lovely and made a cold wet stay much more comfortable helping out with extra wood and checking in on us. Stayed for a couple of nights in a roof top tent. Great spot on the river with nice grassy and spacious drive in sites (even fro bigger rigs). The hosts were lovely. Easy to get to. Would definitely recommend.

NEW LOCATION, NEW FREINDS This was our first trip to Palm Cove, and we just loved it. Between the super secluded location of our camp, right on the river. Or, the super friendly hosts and an invite to a "camp oven social". This is our new favourite Hipcamp. Nadine and Troy went out of their way to make us comfortable. Troy cut us a huge lot of firewood, so grateful. Nadine came and personally invited us to get to know everyone staying with drinks around the fire pit. Husband even caught a couple of Cod. We can't wait for our next visit

Palm Cove was absolutely wonderful, the gazebo setup next to the river was beautiful and clean the grass around was lush and green and could be mistaken for a golf course! The toilet was clean and flushable, no long drop! Nadine was very welcoming and accommodating, going above and beyond what is expected. Oh and the views! They have found their piece of paradise and I'm grateful they have chosen to share it with all of us. Thanks Nadine for allowing us to have such a great time.

Awesome spot to stay, we had the place to ourselves and will definitely be in our list to come back to when in Wagga again. Extremely quiet of a night time with a great view looking over the township lights.

Great place to chill out. We did some day trips around Lake Hume. Lots of birds to observe and plenty of fishing spots. Can collect wood for evening fire. Dog loved running around the ample area assigned to campers

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Bimbimbi and can’t recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, Ian, our host, made us feel right at home. He was welcoming, helpful, and clearly puts a lot of care into making the site a peaceful, well-kept retreat. He made us feel welcome as soon as we met at his farm stay. Weekend Trip to Palm Cove On The Murrumbidgee

Nadine and Troy have thought of everything. It is a beautiful spot right on the river. Fire pits, fire wood, solar lights in the trees. They have done a lot of work and the property is parklike. Not sure what number site we were on (Lucky us had a choice when we arrived) but any one of them is great! Thy made us feel welcome and we were thrilled to share their patch of paradise. Would thoroughly recommend this camp and may well visit again if down that way.

Peaceful river side spot with ample room and good views. The river was great to swim in and we caught carp and trout easily off the banks. Nice grassed area, and the fire pit was perfect too. Ian was an exceptional host for our large group of families.

Bimbimbi River Camp

Bimbimbi is located at the free flowing, clear beginning of the Murray River, at Tintaldra. We have 5 separate sites. Each site is for a single group, so you know you will only have yourselves in close proximity. Each site has access to the river, although The Fishing Hole, River Red Gums and The Big Bend have better access than The Willows and The Old Pump Hole. Swimming, fishing for Murray Cod, hiking along the river bank (we have 3km of frontage), bird watching, relaxing are typical things to do here. Or, if you are more adventurous, borrow our canoes and do a down river trip, or go for a longer hike up Pine Mountain in the Pine Mountain National Park. Or, bring your mountain or road bikes and do some cycling on the picturesque roads and trails. The Big Bend is the most open camping site suitable for larger groups. Access to the river for swimming is good. This site is accessible to 2-wheel drive vehicles. The Fishing Hole is our most remote location, accessible during the summer by high clearance 2-wheel drive vehicles but 4-wheel drive is highly recommended. There is good access to the river here for swimming. This site is clothing optional. You are basically on your own in a remote place. Wear whatever you like, including nothing at all. River Red Gums is a single campsite, also remote and primitive, accessible by high clearance 2-wheel drive vehicles during dry weather. Again, 4 wheel drive is recommended. Access to the river is easy and the bank slopes gently down making it a great place for swimming. This site is also clothing optional. The Old Pump Hole is upstream of all the other camp sites. It is the easiest to access. Most vehicles will get to this site. The bank here is steeper so swimming is not as easy. However, always improvising, campers at this location jump in here with their li-los, inner tubes and other flotation devices and float down to The Big Bend, get out and then come back and do it again. This is an area set on a small hill overlooking the river, as shown in the photos. The Willows, our newest site, is between The Big Bed and River Red Gums, set under the shade of some willows a few metres from the river bank. The bank here is also steep, but again, campers can hop into the river here and float down to River Red Gums, or walk either to River Red Gums or The Big Bend for swimming. The Willows is also clothing optional. The campsites are well spaced out, with a minimum of 200 metres between the nearest two locations. In fact, it either impossible or very difficult to see anyone else at the other camp sites from your own camp site. Each camp site is accessible via its own track, so you won't have other vehicles driving past your camp site. We have a Leave No Trace policy, please take all rubbish with you. (This also means not throwing bottles, cans, bottle tops, aluminium foil and other non-biodegradable items into the camp fire.) Dogs are allowed, but please keep them under control, particularly if near cattle. Campfires are allowed only in braziers provided, when fire bans are not in place. You can gather your own firewood or purchase firewood from us (see "Extras"). Please arrive before dark if you haven't been here before. It is difficult to understand a new camp site in the dark. We provide a toilet at each location, for your convenience and the cleanliness of the camp site in general. Nothing but your human deposit and toilet paper in the toilet please. No disposable wipes, nappies etc. Please put these in your trash. Also, bring your drone but use it only over locations that are not occupied. We have canoes to borrow and seasonal produce is available from the garden. And, again, wood for purchase if you don't want to gather your own. Please see "Extras"

Willowbank on the Murray

Our 25 acre HipCamp area is located safely within our 300 acre property which enjoys approximately 5 kilometres of pristine and private Murray River frontage in the beautiful rural city of Albury. Willowbank is a fourth generation cattle farm and when you arrive at Willowbank you will feel like you are a million miles away from anywhere but you are only 2.8km from the centre of Albury and 2.9km to Wodonga from our sites . We are less than 5 minutes away from the beautiful South Albury cafe and boutique shopping precinct; Ebden & Olive, Nannina's, Meraki, Platform 9, South Albury Take Away, Di Billet, Almar Organics, Sukor Wellness & Recovery, The Red Devil Brewery, Tucker on Townsend, Chic to Chic and more. We are also only 3.5km from Harris Farm Markets. Albury's public Dump Point at Albury Railway Station is less than 5 minutes away. Each of our camping sites is well away from each of the others and there is plenty of room at each site for children to play. The two best sites for swimming are The River Bend and The Willows. We encourage the use of life jackets for children in the water at all time. We have no toilet or shower facilities at any of our sites so you are required to bring your own toilet with you. All waste must be removed at the end of your visit. We have no access to drinking water and if you decide to use river water for drinking we do recommend that you boil the water. Swimming, floating, paddling in the Murray River is a sublime pastime. Please be aware though, that the Murray River has a very fast and strong current. Looking to hire a canoe, we recommend you contact Dave/ Murray River Canoe Hire (0417 691 339) for a canoe to paddle around your campsite or to do a beautiful canoe trip on the Murray River from Doctor's Point to Noreuil Park. It will take a few hours and yes you will go past your camp site! We do have an area to launch your motor or paddle boat or jet ski We are on the banks of the magnificent Murray River and all our three sites are absolute river frontage with uninterrupted views up, down and across the Murray River. Rolling Hills & Riverside Camping

Beautiful spot on a sweeping bend of the Murray River not far from the spectacular Hume Dam. This campsite is situated on a working beef cattle, lamb and merino wool property is only 14km from the major border cities of Albury-Wodonga. It is home to a diverse range of wildlife with over 100 species recorded on the property including wetland birds, platypus and the endangered squirrel glider. The farm has been run by the same family since 1919 and, as the 4th, 5th and 6th generations on the farm, we are honoured to be able to share this wondrous space with you! You will enjoy seclusion whilst only being a stones throw from Lake Hume and the major centres of Albury and Wodonga. You'll have the ability to swim and fish in the cool Murray River water or just relax under the century old shady river red gums whilst reading a book or enjoying a drink. There are countless attractions in the local area including the Rutherglen Wine area, historic Beechworth, alpine resorts and the high country of North-East Victoria, just to name a few. The Orchard

"The Orchard" is located at Crafty Cider and SMART Animal Sanctuary "The Orchard" is in the beautiful Kunama valley located 10 minutes from Batlow and 30 from the wonderful town of Tumbarumba. Set your camp up in our small Cider Apple orchard over looking the dam and our beautiful 55 acre farm. Get close up to the camels (Houdini, Sadeek and Gobi), Check out our beautiful big highland steer called Jimmy, Roger the donkey always likes a bum scratch, and see the many other animals that live here at Crafty Cider & SMART Animal Sanctuary. Kick back and listen to the quiet around you, enjoy the sounds of the birds and farm animals. "The Orchard" is a beautiful peaceful 5 minute walk down a gravel road with big trees to our Cidery where you can taste and take back to camp some of our cider or sit and have a drink while watching the animals being fed. Maybe book a tour where Tony will show you how we make our cider from the orchard to the bottle and Lorene will show you the amazing animals. You can always jump on your bike and head out on one of the many tracks in the area. You will need to be self sufficient and have your own toilet, water etc. There is no power in The Orchard. Due to people using the orchard as a toilet we are now no longer taking people tenting. You MUST be self sufficient. Head in Batlow to check out the bakery, RSL and Pub and admire the beauty of this small town. Or head upto Tumbarumba where you can visit the Winerys and Ginnery, have lunch at Coroubya wines,The Nest or one of the many cafes. Maybe take the challange of the Tumbarumba rail trail. Check out the water falls, the blowering dam and take in those beautiful mountain views.

Creal's Rest

Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an Aussie fisherman, Craig. To cut the long story short, after living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live. Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live. On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Ask us for some fresh herbs from our garden if you like cooking with a little extra flavour or use them to enjoy a herbal tea. Heard of "Swedish Torch" yet? An amazing way of having a campfire, that burns for hours. Cook on it or just enjoy the beautiful mess free fire. Book ahead!
