Once a much larger property, we purchased our 120-acre (50-hectare) in 1984 as a means to live sustainably and raise a family. Living in our shed whilst we prepared the garden, installed watering infrastructure, and built our house, which we finally moved into when our daughter was 6 months old in 1990. Over the ensuing years, we have continued to increase biodiversity on the property and set it up so we can live sustainably, harvesting our own water, electricity, and food. If you're lucky, you could get a hamper of our product when there is sufficient in season. With the increased biodiversity, you will find that in the mornings and evenings, kangaroos and wallabies will visit with the occasional echidna, rabbi,t and hare; and to forget the large array of bird life - that may wake you early in the morning with the songs. This campsite is set on lovely grassy open areas interspersed with gum trees. The sunrise looks spectacular near the dam, when the trees give off a lovely glow. The main paddock has a Geodome, a shared space for relaxing in. With all that space, you can park and set up camp anywhere in the paddock. There is access to drinking water, toilets, and a hot shower. Around the dome is a fire pit, drinking water, and a camp kitchen. The fire pit features an Argentinian BBQ and a plate for cooking. The kitchen has plates, cups, cutlery, and other bits and pieces for you to use. We also allow your pets to stay on-site; this includes horses. You can even visit Sakura Matsuri, the Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Cowra late September! Year round, enjoy the tranquillity and landscapes of the Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre in Cowra (14 min). The gardens act as a monument of peace and reconciliation between two countries after the largest Prisoner Of War breakout in modern military history. Cowra's rich history can be explored at the Cowra POW Campsite and various other historical sites around town. Make sure to end your night around a great campfire! You can have campfires in your own contained fire pits and sometimes we have complimentary firewood in a wood shed close by. Roast some marshmallows and take in the starry night sky. Property has a gorgeous stand-alone bathroom building with 2 toilets, a hot water shower and sink. Please keep this clean and tidy. There are cleaning products under the sink as we cannot always be there to keep it clean. There is also an undercover table and basic camp kitchen set up for use in the shearing shed. Please take all rubbish with you. Pick a camp site in the middle aisle around the sheds, bathroom block and driveway OR in any open paddock (granite pad sites on hill are their own sites). Note the ground off the driveway and parking pads can get very wet and boggy so to avoid getting bogged please try to stick to the driveway as much as possible.

Really lovely location with beautiful and spacious spots. An especially wonderful area for digs to be off leash while still in a securely fenced area (which is huge!) The shower is a bit hit and miss. They’ve recently switched to an electric heater but it wasn’t working when in mattered so cold showers were endured. I imagine this will be fixed promptly though. This is a great spot with a very friendly host. Thanks Margot and Michael

Young Country Getaway was an amazing property. You want beautiful bush views? It’s got it. Amazing sunsets? We saw them. You need peace and quiet? It’s here Did you say close to town but far enough out? Uh, right here. What about gorgeous ducks, Geese and a stunning peacock? Look no further. A spacious well kept rural property? Young Country Getaway is the answer We loved it and will be back for sure. Directions on how to get to Young country getaway from Mary were simple and we found it easy to find. Mary was very communicative. Best camp ever!

We were caravaning and had the place to ourselves. There is quite a lot of space and paddocks are mown with a number of options as to where to camp. If we hadn't already setup we would have moved to a spot nearer the BBQ and toilet block. Lovely country feel. Enjoyed it.

We spent the weekend at Wilson’s Flat campsite and it was perfect! Directions to the property were very easy to follow. We definitely came at the right time, plenty of water in the creek to dip your toes in or make a splash in the deep parts, green grass for as far as you could see. Campsite nestled along the creek surrounded by rolling hills, the views were absolutely stunning. What stood out was how well maintained everything was. The toilet was well looked after and stocked with everything you needed, bins were provided, great campfire, a map to the property if you wanted to explore or hike. Generous spacing between campsites you were in your own little oasis! From the very beginning everything was easy, well thought out and cannot fault anything. Thankyou Jen and John for a wonderful stay, we will be back again!!

Weekend Trip to Boorowa Hipcamp - Wombles Common

Another great stay at Boorowa Wombles Common. The area was clean mown and right on the river. Love the addition of a firepit. The adjoining pathway was great to take into town both walking and bike riding. We enjoyed watching the sheep wander around the paddock and the creeky windmill across the river gave that real country feel not forgetting the view of beautiful sunsets and sunrise. Easy to find location although our 19ft van is possibly maximum size to get through the main gate. We even managed to catch a rather large carp on the first night. Will come back again

We loved our stay at Redlands. Jen and John are super friendly and helpful. We had a great location on the property and we were able to explore all the paddocks. It was generally quiet and peaceful. Our kids enjoyed riding around and the sheep shearing demonstration. I would highly recommend staying at Redlands. There are many different sites to suit everyone, remote or closer to the homestead depending what you like.

Our site was at philaris pdk site 4 but we did our camping near our shearing shed. It’s quite far from Sydney around 280 km but it was worth it. Peaceful place. Clean toilets, water available. If you are going from Sydney book for 2 days. John and Jennifer are good.

Weekend Trip to Redlands Camping

An absolutely STUNNING place, and can’t recommend it enough. Our site was a huge, clean, private site, beside a beautiful creek. Lots of great site choices. Plenty of room to set up and communication before stay was clear and made it an easy arrival. An amazing property to explore, with breathtaking views high above the campground and being a working sheep farm added to the adventure, with lots of ways to get involved. John and Jen were the perfect hosts, friendly, helpful and made our stay so memorable. Thank you so much, we all had an awesome time and appreciate what you have created. We are excited to return for another great stay as soon as we can. This Hipcamp is AWESOME!!!!

Weekend Trip to Lake Leighten's

We absolutely loved camping at this beautiful spot .The sound of the running water of the river , the wildlife and the scenery made this the perfect weekend getaway. Being the only campers it was so peaceful. Easy to find as well . We will definitely be back to swim in the river when it warms up a bit . Thank you Thomas for letting us stay . It’s a 10/10 from us 😊

Weekend Trip to La Paloma Farm

Steph’s land is lovely and quiet — a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Everything was easy to find and well prepared, even though we didn’t meet the host in person. Just a few small things to note: there’s only one bathroom, the grassy area is a bit sloped, and the camp kitchen doesn’t have running water for washing up. Other than that, it’s a beautiful and peaceful stay!
