Property was owned by my great grandfather , He lost 150 acres in the early 1900's due to a bad debt from neighboring landowner. Was so happy to be able to repurchase the 150 acres back in 2016,now own the original land tract and added more. 250 acres in total. Portions were strip mined around 1978-1982 creating some flat fields and access to all property. I might add that strip mining if done properly can and does enhance the property. Ponds were built to catch runoff and several new animal species moved in waterfowl ,muskrats, and beavers. The beavers have constructed large dams on property further adding to the beauty. Have seen several bald eagles on and around the property.

Mountainous area close to national forests, whitewater, trout fishing, Has 6 large ponds in campground ,plenty of spectacular views and wildlife. enjoy sharing the land I love so much. Just minutes away from Cranberry back country ,Cranberry glades, Hillscreek falls and the highland scenic highway. 8 miles off of route 19 where you can enjoy Summersville Lake and Gauley River Whitewater. Just a few miles on down the road to the New River Gorge, where on an October day guests from around the world come to jump off a perfectly good bridge, with parachutes attached of course. To many mountain streams to list all, where I myself enjoy fishing for our state fish Native brook trout. Cell service is sketchy in places, which I consider a plus if you want to enjoy all the beauty. My friend Rick Greene will take you and your family via mules and wagon to trout fish the Cranberry River, where no motor vehicles are permitted. Access only on foot, bike or horse. By appointment at [xxxxxxxx] . Numerous walking trails and ATV trails. The Williams, Elk and Cranberry rivers are some of the best trout streams in the eastern U.S.

  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Beaver Lakes offers a quiet and spacious campground that's well-loved for its breathtaking mountain views and the friendly, welcoming host, John. The property is vast, providing ample space for campers to feel secluded, yet secure, with plenty of room for activities like fishing and hiking. While the site delivers on essential amenities like full hookups and a well-maintained bathhouse, it remains a bit off the beaten path with limited cell service, which some might find a drawback. Overall, the site promises a peaceful retreat with the natural beauty of the surroundings being a highlight.

This was our first stay at Beaver Lakes. It was a pleasure to meet John. Very kind, friendly host. I needed full hookup this trip so I could be able to empty my tanks. John suggested driving up the hill before settling in so I could enjoy more of his 250 acres. So glad we did. It's a beautiful place and you can tell he's pr a lot of time, work and love into it. We are planning another visit real soon and will be skipping the full hook up. Thank you John. We'll see you soon.

This was an amazing experience! John the owner is incredibly welcoming and treats you as if you are a guest staying in his bedroom! the land is huge and beautiful with much space between campers! the top view is incredible and even if it is all booked you are more than welcome to walk to the top and enjoy it as long as you like. It was just me and my other friend, two young females and we felt extremely safe.
