The site sits near the junction of Bailey Creek and the South Llano River. The land is managed for bird watching and plant diversity and boast and astonishing variety of plant species. The Painted Bunting and the Black-throated Sparrow almost always available for view here. Hill Terrace Cabins One and Three began their existence as Depression era Girls Scout cabins. Humans have been on the site and estimated 7,000 years now and there is strong sense of peace and continuity in the land and waters here. An historical marker on site relates a famous shoot-out between The Texas Rangers and the infamous Potter gang. The wells are shallow, spring fed, and sweet with limestone, so bring your favorite tea or coffee. And a hat! The river is flowing well, but burn bans may be in effect.

Hill Terrace Cabin One

(31)
Cabin · Sleeps 4 · 2 bedrooms · 3 beds · 1 toilet
A cozy rock river cabin tucked up on the hill. One full bed on front screened-in porch (not air conditioned), with a queen in its own room (with AC window unit). A tiny kitchen and bathroom round out the stay. There is also a small roll-out bed next to the queen.  Easy access to the South Llano River, with grills, riverbank seating, and a common fire pit. Probably our quietest cabin. Two adults with one to three children is about the right size for this perfect little abode. Two-night minimum, Please do not divide a weekend. Private gas grill. Unfortunately, we can not allow dogs at this cabin. The three Hill Terrace Cabins sit together and pair well for larger gatherings. NOTE: Screened porch and kitchen does not have AC, bedroom and bathroom have AC.

  • Review summary

    Generated from real Hipcamper reviews

Campers consistently praise the cabins for their cozy charm and historical touch, reminiscent of simpler times. The on-site amenities, like kayaks and river access, make it a great spot for aquatic activities and relaxation by the water. Guests appreciate the attentiveness of the host, Glen, who ensures a comfortable and well-equipped stay. While the rustic nature of the cabins is appealing, some note that the showers are a bit snug, but this doesn't seem to detract from the overall enjoyment.

The owners treated us as family! Made sure our grandsons had access to kayaks, canoes, basketball court, everything! They had ice and cold water bottles waiting for us at the cabin. The cabin was fully stocked with all essentials as well as movies, magazines, games, & coffee. Cabin was adorable and so comfy. Loved it being so close to the river. We will definitely return! We ended up staying at Cabin 3 instead of cabin 1.

I visit Junction to see local friends and paddle the S Llano at least twice a year. My second visit to this property. Stayed in Cabin 1 this time since it was just me. Simple and comfy. It was very relaxing to watch the rain from the front porch. The larger cabin is even better if you have more people. The river access is superb if you enjoy kayaking. Was there for the Up and Back Race this year and it was the perfect place to paddle up to first crossing to watch the first few racers from there and then back at the cabin later in the afternoon. Lots of hummingbirds and butterflies too! Will be back.

This is a great place close to the riverbank. Nice walkway down as well as kayaks on site to use. Cabins are about 100 years old but have some updates that makes it nice to stay in. The host was great very helpful and quick to respondon, also has a guy that is next door if anything pops up. Beds were comfy and the patios are very nice to sit on. Would recommend to stay for a nice river trip.
