A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River. Guest access: The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. River access: If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them. ---- We are a working farm - PLEASE READ----- There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane. Thank you for choosing us!

Close to mountains of outdoor and indoor activities (pun intended). we are close to hidden falls or the confluence trails local micro-breweries and many local wineries. Check out the wine trail. Conveniently located just down the road from all the area has to offer. Our 28 ft vintage 1973 Silver Streak has been uniquely updated. Sporting a comfy queen bed . Guests have said they get an amazing sleep. A fridge to keep you cold stuff cold. Cooking supplies, hot plate, microwave, air fryer and a gas BBQ. The Streak has good ac and heat!. Yes, there is a bathroom. We have an amazing outdoor clawfoot tub to soak in or shower! There is also an indoor shower (it's not roomy). Relax on the deck after an amazing day and watch the world go by. We look forward to sharing our slice of paradise. Just so you know. We have chickens. Fresh eggs! we also have 2 Newfies. there are a lot of wild animals roaming about. Turkeys, peacocks, deer, creepy crawlies, It can be not so quiet sometimes. We love it!

Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them. ---- We are a working farm - PLEASE READ----- There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you! In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants. We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca. NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane. Thank you for choosing us!

In Town Camping

Enjoy a nice nature spot close to town. The property is minutes away from Downtown Grass Valley. It’s a great spot to spent the night after a show in town, or to explore the area for a few days. If you need water and electric hookups it’s best to park near or on the cement pad. Otherwise feel free to park anywhere in the back yard. There is a small creek which is an NID ditch and chairs set up there for relaxing. For being close to town the spot has a lot of beautiful nature! It's an easy 15 minute drive to multiple lakes and river spots of Nevada County. Enjoy the beautiful nature of this area while being close to town!

Cosumnes River Somerset Camp

This land was home to the Miwok, then European and Chinese miners, then a cattle rancher. It was also home to a former nun who quit the dominican order to purchase this land for inner city kids to have a chance to ride, swim, hike and fish. We moved here in 2017 and purchased this land with the main goal to raise our large family here, but we have found that good things must be shared! There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with this beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork cosumnes river. We have 2 sleeping cabins and several tent sites (can be rented separately). The cabins offer a rustic/minimalist type vibe - bring your own bedding/pillows to sleep on the comfy futon. A table and chairs are provided for the cabins. Tent sites have a wood table (bring your camp chairs) and a fire pit when the season is open for burning. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! Many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting. It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. The recent Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the cabins. It is still as beautiful as ever but please know there are lots of slash piles. Falling trees and burned up stump holes are also a risk and it is presumed campers will be cautious and use at their own risk. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message if you have any questions!

Around Auburn

Private RV parks north of Auburn offer tent and RV sites, along with deluxe amenities. East of Auburn, the Auburn State Recreation Area offers hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, and the North and Middle Forks of the American River. Three campgrounds offer primitive and boat-in campsites. Head to Coloma for rafting along the South Fork of the American River and riverside camping in a tent, RV, or cabin.

Tahoe and Eldorado National Forests

Auburn is well placed to access both the Tahoe National Forest and the Eldorado National Forest, with nearly 1.5 million acres, hundreds of miles of trails, hundreds of lakes, and thousands of miles of river, including the Yuba, American, and Rubicon rivers, along with more than 100 developed campgrounds, and plenty of backcountry camping options, between the two parks. Head further east for Lake Tahoe and scenic lakeside camping options.

Sacramento and Jackson Area

Near Sacramento, several campgrounds can be found in the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area around Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma, or further south near the Sacramento River at Sandy Beach Regional Park and Brannan Island State Recreation Area. Further south near Jackson, find additional water sports and camping options around Lake Amador, Camanche Lake, and New Hogan Lake.

When to go

Summer is the most popular time for outdoor adventures and camping around Auburn, especially at the area lakes and rivers when temperatures are high and the heat is dry. Many competitions are held from spring to fall, with the peak over the summer. The fishing season runs from April to November. Visit in spring for wildflower displays and fall for colorful foliage. Winter snow and weather can affect access and availability of winter recreation activities.
