43 Hilly/mountainous acres with numerous flat plateaus and views of the canyons and mountains.   Each plateau has several great spots to car/van/truck camp, pitch a tent or park small trailers and small RVs. Larger RVs/Trailers fit on the front side of our property.

Our base site rental fee is $75 for the first person and includes our propane fire-pit rental fee.  An additional $49 per person after that.  Children under 12 are FREE max 2 children if you have more than 2 children please add an extra adult for every 3 children under 12.

If you do not want to rent the propane fire-pit let us know and we’’ll send you a 15% discount code to insert when you book.

We place campers at camp sites on a first-come first-serve basis upon arrival.  All of our sites are DRY camping (no water/electricity.)  All of our sites are spread out with plenty of space for social distancing.

Our best sites, with little-to-no traffic noise, (and the best views) are on our back property.  Best suited for tents, camper vans, trucks and SMALL trailers or SMALL RVs.  There is a semi-steep hill up to our upper property if you're towing a trailer you will need a powerful vehicle to make it up the hill.

Sites on our lower property by the common area are easily accessible with views up the hills/mountains but come with some highway noise.  We imagine it sounds like waves crashing and call it the "steel river."

For your private camp area, please bring your own drinking water, water to wash dishes and if think you'll need: chairs, camp tables, umbrellas or shade structures, etc. Plan on being fully self-sufficient at your private camp area.  Otherwise feel free to use all the common areas in front of the barn until 10pm.

ABOUT OUR DOGS: We have three male dogs (two of the three are UN-NEUTERED) an 8 year old yellow lab (Titan-Dan), a 9 year old American Dingo (Reno) and 2 year old Great Pyrenees (Bandit.) All three of our fur babies are great with children and non-aggressive visiting dogs.  They don't mind little dogs trying to prove themselves either.

COMMON USE AREA: Inside and near the barn include: tables, chairs, hammocks, wood fire pit, outdoor propane BBQ and stove, small indoor kitchen available by reservation/pre-approval, outdoor mineral shower and mineral cold plunge tubs.

PORTA-POTTY and Compost Toilets: We have porta-potties next to the Barn and on Running Dog Flats as well as a compost toilet at the Artist Studio and Packs Peak.  We also have little personal compost toilets to lend out at your private camp spot if needed, please request upon check in.

WINE TASTING: We are in the heart of the wine country with a tasting room less than one mile away and/or a few short miles into Buellton, Solvang, Santa Ynez and/or Los Olivos.

BEACHES and HIKING: We are 5 minutes from the beach.  You can hike all over our property, see below for a list of all our recommendations.

SUMMER/FALL: Expect the landscape and views to be golden brown (not green and lush like in a lot of the photos posted which were taken this past winter/spring.)

WILD LIFE: Our dogs do a great job of fending off the resident bobcat and coyotes on the front portion of our property and by the barn, if they are barking in the night there's a reason. If you end up camping on the front portion of our property, and think their barking will affect your sleep, bring earplugs ;-).

We look forward to hosting you.  Sincerely, Sierra and Darin

We loved our night at Cactus Flower Ranch! Dan and Sierra were super nice at great hosts. The property was incredible, rolling green hills for as far as you could see with many possible spots to set up camp. We decided to stay in a cozy artists' cabin atop a grass plateau where we could watch the starts. Dan and Sierra's central house had a great atmosphere, at night they had a campfire going and we were even able to relax in the hot tub while drinking wine out of mason jars provided by Sierra. The super cute dogs running around the property were a huge plus too!

Sierra was a wonderful hostess, meeting us at the gate and introducing us to Bandit, their large, white, friendly dog. She generously offered to let us sleep in an RV trailer when I realized I had forgotten our sleeping pads while packing. The fire pit and communal barn area is great for guests to hang out and be social - my partner and I were tired from a long road trip and just enjoyed a good night’s sleep instead. Beautiful green hill views in the morning.

Sierra and Darin were fantastic. They gave my friend and I a tour and an array of camping choices. Their photos don’t do justice to the stunning beauty of their place. It’s a wonder their gorgeous ranch is not overrun with campers trying to get into one of the coolest places I have ever camped.

Darin and Sierra are a couple of gems! They are kind and friendly and they went above and beyond in so many ways! The campsite view was gorgeous! We felt like we had our own little private paradise. Our goal was to escape the city and that's exactly what we found. Seclusion and paradise. The campsite was clean and very well kept up. The composting toilet was a bonus. We usually bring our own toilet set up but had no need this trip. We cannot wait to come back here and spend time with Darin and Sierra while we enjoy the wilderness. Our pups already miss Reno, Titan, and Bandit. Their boys were so kind. They gave our pups a top notch experience and you know the camping trip was all for them anyways. Ha! They got to run and play and explore with their new puppy crew. And they also got to swim in their top notch first class puppy pond. They were wet, and muddy, and messy, and loved every second of it! We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our fur babies. You will NOT be disappointed with your choice at Freedog Farms. Click yes to book and prepare for a breath of fresh air! We will be back 100%! - Shelby & Jason

A slice of heaven! Darin and Sierra were the most attentive and exceptional hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed conversing with them, touring the property and the beautiful views and luxurious privacy of our campsite. There were so many creative and thoughtful touches at our campsite and all around the property we were over the moon and will definitely return. :-)

Cactus flower ranch was an absolute dream. Several different camping options that’ll fit any occasion. Whether you want a quiet getaway outside the city, a social campfire, some adventurous hikes and so much more. They even have a barn you can stay in. Showers (with limited water) and electricity if needed and town is only a 5 minute drive away. Sierra and Darin are great hosts and we had a blast. Will be back soon.
