Largely constructed from materials lovingly and gently harvested on-site, the Yurt at Rivendell is a sanctuary of peace and serenity. A place for rejuvenation and inspiration. The yurt began as a rustic structure utilizing lumber from trees selectively harvested to protect the health of the forest. But, the more Roy worked on the Yurt the more it spoke to him letting him know how to proceed and what it should become -- resulting in this phenomenally peaceful and stress-free wilderness sanctuary where the sun, the moon and the stars wink at you through the gentle undulations of the 100-year-old Douglas Firs Trees or through the ambient ether of the adjoining meadows. Our property is located 1hr and 30 minutes from Mt Hood in Oregon. We are located in White Salmon, Washington. There are enough things to do in White Salmon, including hiking trails, biking trails, white water rafting, waterfalls, and paddling spots to keep you entertained for a weekend, week, or lifetime! NOTE: While we do accept Instant Bookings for both our Tree House and Yurt there may very rarely be a conflict with a booking received earlier from another site when the HipCamp calendar has not been updated to reflect that booking. In that case, we default to the earliest booking and work with the guest to see if there are other dates which will work. *Meteorologists project possible visible Northern Lights through May 14, 2024

    It was okay

    This lovely cabin is beautifully built in the shape of a yurt. The bathroom is huge & the whole space is so warming. We loved the fireplace and the deck. Everyone we communicated with over text and email was kind. The place is immaculate. Beds are definitely a tight fit for two folks. Our main complaint is that the hot tub does not go past 102. Take note, your first drive to the cabin is best done during the day. It's a narrow one lane gravel road with lots of switchbacks and a ravine below. No street lights obviously and no cell service.

    The Treehouse is unusual in a charming way. Roy told us about the TH history which causes you to appreciate how they modernized the house while keeping the homes history & spirit. We followed Roy’s & Rebecca’s directive and printed the directions to the Treehouse rather than use GPS which can lead you off course. Not good. We enjoyed the simpler lifestyle the few days we were there. Weather was really pleasant and we dined on the expansive deck. We did miss out on a soak in the hot tube though! Overall it was an adventure!

  • Firewood bundle$15.00 per nightAt select sitesOur firewood fee is charged per night. You will have access to abundant firewood to meet your needs. NOTE: If planning to use the outside firepit during permissible seasons please request 2 bundles. Because the primary heat in the Tree House is wood heat, stays in the fall, winter, and autumn will require wood for the wood stove. Guests are welcome to bring their own; however, our per night fees are generally much less expensive than purchasing commercially off-site. During the Fall, Winter, and Spring we do allow fires in provided firepits, as well. However, there is a outside fire-ban on from mid-June through at least mid-September every summer during which no outside fires are allowed so no firewood should be purchased. During those summer months, guests will typically require less wood for the Tree House, as well.
  • 2nd Bed$35.00 per itemBooking for 2 adults assumes co-sleeping (1 bed). If guests wish separate beds this alerts us, and this flat fee covers the extra bedding/laundry.
  • Child Policy$35.00 per nightHey Kiddos! If you are 12 or under and bringing your parents for an adventure at Lothlorien Woods - Abodes of Middle Earth, please make sure they add you here instead of under number of guests!! We have one flat fee for up to two children instead of charging per person! Also, your parents will need to review and agree to our policy for bringing Children. So, to make sure your plans come off without a hitch, be sure to let your parents know to ask for our Children's Policy for their review and agreement.
