Been to the Goat Pens a couple of times. Jeff is a good seed. It is a cool place to stay and great for exploring. Jeff let’s you have free roam of the place and let’s you have privacy. Great views!
Totally worth the stay. Jeff was super friendly and was really helpful when we got it pretty late. Area is beautiful! We went to BBNP for the day but explored his place at Cigar Ranch as well. Open spaces and beautiful sunrise. Planning to stay here again. About a 35 min drive to the Chisos.
The site was great. Nice location with great views. Jeff's directions were easy to follow and he was there to meet us when we arrived. I highly recommend it for people that want to camp near Terlingua and between the parks.
We had such a great time at the Goat Pens! We got the campsite that you have to walk over a bridge to get to. It was super private and offered a lot of areas for exploring, climbing, and photography. Jeff was an excellent host and made us feel at home. The location was perfect for visiting Big Bend on day hikes as well as surrounding areas. A huge plus for us was the ability to have a camp fire. We would definitely come back!
Jeff was a very attentive host and we had a great stay. The property was perfect for my family’s camping experience. The location was great for venturing to Big Bend and other natural wonders nearby. There’s even a little exploring to be had on-site! We were very happy campers.
Great place to camp just outside of Big Bend. Our plan has been to camp inside the park at primative sites, but when we arrived all permits had been sold out.
Goat Pens was a great option for us and Jeff responded quickly to us to confirm our spot at his place.
We arrived after dark and he met us at the gate and showed us a great spot to camp, with plenty of space between us and other groups.
Camp site is on private land - i.e. no burn ban. The site is very secluded, and just a short hike up the surrounding ridge provides amazing views of the surrounding areas. Jeff the owner is a real mensch and you can feel safe knowing he’s at the helm. It’s a five minute drive from gas, groceries, and the park. Big Bend was fantastic and we will be back, all that we can hope is that Jeff and the goat pens are still open for business.
