Paradise on Lake Texoma (formerly Paradise Cove) is a beautiful, secluded commercial campground located in the "Big Mineral Arm'' of Lake Texoma. Built in the 80's by the Corps of Engineers, Paradise has been a mainstay of the lake for many years. Recently, the current management team are working to grow Paradise into something special. With a huge focus on community and culture, Paradise has tons of space for people to come together and enjoy the company and also areas to wander off and find a quiet lakeside spot to relax. You'll also be able to catch one of the best breathtaking sunsets on the lake!
The wildlife we have on the property is amazing! I have deer that sleep in my front yard, opossums, 600 bird species, and my favorite… the armadillos!
We offer Kayaking on the property for a fee. We have a beautiful Hammock Garden free for guests to kick back and relax. Texoma Water Taxi is a text away to give guests a ride anywhere on the lake including restaurants. Rock-N A Ranch is roughly 20 minutes away and offers horseback riding.
The Cabins and Campsites are within walking distance from each other but far enough away to create that illusion of privacy. We do have a neighborhood close by but you can’t see or hear them due to the woods.
In my travels, I try to bring back something I’ve seen or learned to help improve the guest experience and environment. You’ll notice little touches of Asia, Mexico, and even Hill Country Texas! We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and treat every guest like family.

In the early 1900’s an iconic red barn was built near the hilltop along the road between the old Mt. Zion community and Collinsville. Later in the 1900’s, the land was mostly abandoned by its owners, but not by the local fishermen! They knew its woodland fishing pond never dried up, and so was able to support a better population of fish. They also dumped a cornucopia of old motorcycles, cars and farm equipment in the front field. What else were you supposed to do with scrap metal in North Texas horse country?
In 2002 the Holtzman family purchased the 35 acre tract of land. They dug a front pond for swimming and paddling, buried the scrap metal (although occasional bits of history still work their way up!), restored and brought horses back to the barn, and began consulting with local biologists about supporting native wildlife.
April Holtzman launched Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center on the property to provide a beautiful, safe place for families to explore and learn about nature. Camp Tonkawa continues to host overnight and day camps with educational programing organized around various themes including: Native American culture, nature awareness, basic camping skills, primitive survival, organic gardening, herbology, outdoor cooking, western days, and horsemanship. We also host field trips and frequently conduct Girl Scout journeys for all levels in the "It's Your Planet, Love it!" series.
Due to Covid-19, which limited working with groups for our educational programing, we joined Hip Camp where families who could isolate in nature together on our property.

I loved fishing on Susan’s land. Beautiful day in late December, caught lots of fish. Spend the day kayaking around looking for the ultimate big bass. Finally, caught the big one right before I packed up. My two dogs had the best time running and swimming for hours. I was able to meet Susan and her husband, super nice people. I would highly recommend this place.

We tent camped for the Thanksgiving weekend and it was lovely! The wheelbarrow available for use was clutch for the walk-in site. Even though it was mostly flat, it saved us the hassle of carrying things down and back. They sell wood and are easily available for questions or if you need to place an order via text. The bathrooms were clean, had TP, and the water was hot! They are the main bathrooms for the whole property and are right next to our car park, so pretty convenient. Recommend a luggable loo otherwise.
We were the only campers so had our pick of site. For this time of year, only appeared that half of the sites wouldve been useable. Some were muddy from deer and recent rains, plenty of room to spread out, though. There was unfortunately some glass spread around (user's fault, not properties) so be careful with pets or in warmer months, being barefoot.
The beach was really clean and you can tell they do regular cleanups. Appreciated the extra social areas and walking the property was a great hike. It was super peaceful on the calm nights and cozy on the windy ones.

This was our third time camping at 4R, and it’s honestly becoming one of our favorite traditions. The campgrounds are always clean, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. My kids love exploring the area — hiking the trails, walking the hills, and finding new little spots each time we come.
Evenings are our favorite part. Sitting around the campfire, making s’mores, and playing games in the tent once the sun goes down always ends up being the highlight of the trip. It’s such a great mix of quiet, nature, and time together without distractions.

I loved the dispersed tent camping area, a perfect place for my dog to run around and I could see how it’d be easy for a large group! And the flexibility of being able to go to the tasting room up the hill to grab a wine bottle or two cannot be overstated. Very nice, would recommend.

We booked a very last minute night’s stay during the week and got there after dark. The information in the listing and online was so complete that arrival was easy. No need for help from anyone. The camp site was perfectly clean and clear with firewood provided. We’re looking forward to staying when we have more time and can enjoy the winery.

With 12,500 acres of waters, sandy beaches, and forested shores, Lake Murray State Park provides the perfect mix of Mother Nature and manmade pleasures. The 5,700-acre lake takes center stage, where there’s ample space to swim, sail, fish, and paddle. More than 30 miles of trails tempt hikers and bikers away from the water, while thrill-seekers can kick up some dirt in the huge ATV park. Add to that an 18-hole golf course, tennis and volleyball courts, trail rides, hayrides, and miniature golf. Campers are spoiled for choice, too, with nine campgrounds, cabins, and a luxury lodge.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for RV campers: Elephant Rock Campground has 68 concrete sites, 45 with full hookups, and some right by the lakeside.
- Best for backcountry campers: Ski Jump Campground has primitive tent/RV sites with basic facilities and pit toilets, and access to the lake for fishing and kayaking.
- Best for adrenaline junkies: ATV Campground has inland RV and tent sites with direct access to the ATV terrain.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- You can reserve one of the 321 RV sites and 165 tent sites at Lake Murray’s nine campgrounds online. All campsites must be booked in advance.
- Campsite reservations open 11 months in advance and can be booked up to the day before arrival.
- Campsites can book up as fast, especially on summer and holiday weekends. Book a minimum of three months in advance to avoid disappointment.
When to go
Pink and blue wildflowers blanket the shores of Lake Murray through spring and summer, and with daytime temperatures hovering around 95°F, the lake provides welcome relief from the heat. Hiking and outdoor activities are possible year-round, weather depending, and lower off-season rates make this prime time for budget campers. Camping is possible year-round, although campgrounds close during the low season, so check ahead.
Know before you go
- Lake Murray State Park is eight miles south of Ardmore, about a 10-minute drive away. Scenic State Highway 77 loops around the park.
- There is a per-vehicle admission fee to enter the park. Camping reservation fees, ATV permits, and fishing permits are also required.
- Facilities in the park include a restaurant and camp store, boat ramps and fishing piers, and several picnic areas with restrooms and playgrounds.
- There are accessible campgrounds, picnic areas, and restrooms at Lake Murray. The lodge, marina, and golf course are also accessible.

Nice site, numbering in the sites is very odd in that even if they run numerically next to each other they may not be together. Wasn't much oversight - the site next to us was incredibly loud even after being asked to be quiet by other campers after curfew. They were loud well after 11 at night and no one came to ask them to be quiet. Other than that, if you didn't have a terrible, loud group on the site, this site would be amazing.
