Nestled in the Carson National Forest @ 9000ft in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the southern region of the Colorado Rockies lies Enchanted Circle Campgrounds. ECC is a quiet, exclusive, peaceful primitive campground that generally has open camping sites. ECC was Voted "2nd Best Campground in New Mexico" in 2019. There are 5 Private campsites.
Site #1: is the smallest camp site, but it overlooks the valley and lakes and is most often the favorite. It is not large enough for any camper besides tear drops. It is best served as a tent site.
Site #2: is located in the middle of the ranch. It is the largest of the spots and perfect for campers and trailers. It overlooks the valley and has 2 fire pits and hammocks.
Site #3: It is the most remote. It sits on top of a pretty large cliff system that the Ute Indians actually lived in and has some of the best views. TRAILERS CANNOT GET TO SITE 3, due to tight turns.
The Aspens is Spot 4. This spot is great for larger groups. It is the furthest spot from the gate. It is nestled in the middle of a valley full of Aspens. There are Hammocks, giant fire pits, pergolas, Log Benches, and plenty of space to explore at these 4 sites. We have just finished a new site intended for 34ft or larger 5th wheel and bus combos. It is spot 5. It is the flattest spot on the entire ranch, and easiest to access. This spot is our stargazer site, it has the biggest views and is the most open site @ECC. There are trees, but it is mainly sky. Please do Not book unless you are larger than 34 ft. At ECC, you are surrounded by trees and wildlife no matter what spot you choose. Each spot usually has a campfire grill, cast iron skillet, dutch oven, coffee pot, grilling utensils, shovel, hatchet, trash can, hammocks, and other small necessities. With Covid 19, we have removed all of the cooking utensils, cast iron, and coffee pots. You will need to bring these items with you. We have also added hand washing stations and Antibacterial hand soap at each site. We are also Sanitizing the entire campsite after each checkout to ensure all of our guest Safety to the best of our abilities. Numerous trails wander their way through the pine forest, with many more hiking opportunities within a short drive. The Ranch has both long and short nature hikes that allow for views of local flora, fauna, and wheeler peak. We have too many to count, primitive and natural mountain bike trails and many more to discover or trail blaze.
ECC has 7 natural ground (underground) fed springs that run year round. 3 spring fed ponds, 2 of which are stocked with rainbow trout as well as native brown trout, and crawfish. We have just about every terrain here as well, from prairie and marshland, to cliffs and mountainous forest. We have a little over 900 feet of elevation change on the ranch.
We have numerous species of wildlife that call the ranch home. We have elk, mule deer, turkeys, bobcats, prairie dogs, beaver, bears and the occasional mountain lion. We also have our horses and cattle free roaming within the fenced ranch. It is really important to leave all objects you find on the land where you found them (bones, things at the sweat lodge, etc) because this is sacred land and we all need to respect that.
Our Ranch can accommodate individuals, families, and both large and small groups. We also love to support Veteran, LEO, Emergency Services. We will cover one night, for up to 4 campers, for any of those professionals. The biggest draw to ECC besides ECC itself is its proximity to Angel Fire and the Ski and Mountain Bike Resort. Located just 5 miles from Town. There is plenty of exploring to do both on the ranch and in town. We are also located within 15 minutes of 3 State Parks. Come check it out! It might just be your favorite secret spot.

A relaxing and magical campsite
This was a magical place to camp. It was very private but also in close proximity to the hosts, Landon & Sofia, which made me feel safe. The hosts had a fire going for us at our campsite when we arrived and were very welcoming and available during our entire stay there. The layout of the campsite was well thought out and made for a relaxing trip. My partner and I loved waking up each morning, having coffe down by the water, and then hiking the land. It’s a great location as well. The town, Angel Fire, is only a 5 minute drive from the property and it has great food-especially Jeanette’s. The drive to Taos from the property is short and scenic. Our hosts suggested the Ojo Caliente hot springs in Taos and it was wonderful. I plan on bringing back my friends and family to camp here again.
Great hosts and beautiful views.
The site was clean and well kept. It came stocked with camping items to make our stay easy and comfortable; pot, pan, grill, trash can, etc. The campsite itself over looks a valley with two ponds where you can fish for trout or trap crawfish. The hosts were very attentive to our needs and made suggestions on where to hike on the property. They were even kind enough to drop off ingredients to make S'Mores! The town of Angel Fire is a short distance away and has a great little place to eat called Janette's. Overall I recommend this spot if you enjoy car camping and peace and quiet.
Me and my friend had an awesome stay at this camp! The camp site was very spacious and had cooking utensils on site! With so much land to explore it made the camping experience that much more adventurous! And with the sites being so far apart from the others it also made the camp quiet and relaxing. The hosts where very kind, Landon and Sofia made us feel very safe and comfortable at are stay here! With the amount of ideas the hosts have for this place will certainly satisfy a lot of guests! Overall I had a great time and would recommended you give them a visit,I know I will be returning!
Beyond our wildest dreams!
Landon and Sophia made our very first hipcamp experience a dream come true for us. The most beautiful scenery anyone could ask for. They went well beyond any expectations we could have dreamed of. Don't miss this one in a lifetime experience!
This campground exceeded all of our expectations. It is absolutely beautiful! The forest is so lush and healthy. We woke each morning to a herd of wild horses grazing in the meadow. It is peaceful and serene. Landon and Sofia were excellent hosts and made sure we were happy and safe. Sofia even brought us brownies for my husbands birthday! Highly recommend!
ECC is an incredibly beautiful property. I can’t wait to go back and explore this place some more. The site was overlooking a green valley. Could sit and stare at it for hours. There is another 1600+ acres that we barely saw. Sofia and Landon were great hosts that shared the history of the land. Sofia also shared her delicious brownies. Superb hosts. Highly recommend this place.
A very special place with a special hosts. Beautiful views with nature abound. The little town is close by if you have forgotten something. However, for me, bliss was staying at my wonderful campsite above the valley and enjoying hiking, looking at wild flowers, wildlife viewing and the warm fire in the evening. Sofia is as sweet as she can be and her husband helpful. Love the land and leave the land as you found it. Enjoy!
