Description

Ponderosa Group Campground is like the Adele of places to stay: both popular and elusive. Reserve well ahead of time if you want a front-row seat here, where an area well over a mile high will get you just the right kind of dizzy. Sneak a glimpse at a Stellar Jay before it tries to swoop in for your food, and enjoy the beautiful towering trees. Rumor has it you'll have a great time.

The campgrounds are the only place you could access with a vehicle when I visited Bandelier , there is a trail you can hike down to the actual park or ride a shuttle. There were three loops of approximately 25 campsites each with an amphitheater in between them. First come first serve, pay the $7 or so at a automated machine. There was an RV sanitation site there. Fires were allowed within the supplied rings but firewood gathering was prohibited. Beautiful place to explore!
