The majestic splendor of Mount Monadnock is beckoning to you, and you owe it to yourself to heed the call. Tis a challenging trail for New England, one that requires plenty of snacks, a good friend by your side, and a fabulous base camp to kick back in after your descent. You’ll have to take care of the food and company yourself, but we’ve got you covered on the campground front. Gilson Pond Campground is in the heart of the Monadnock region, with a trailhead just feet from your tent.

Quiet and never very crowded. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Camping fees include pass into Monadnock State Park trails and use of town beach directly across the road from the campground

Remote site 2 is a 3 minute walk from parking and up a hill. It is also the ruins of a house. A small stream runs nearby. Also nearby, rusted out car. A bit spooky but super fun and private. View from the tent platform at Remote 2 One view from the summit of Mt. Monadnock, accessible via trails from the campground.
