The House of Bear is located on a spectacular 97-acre, fourth generation working Tree farm in Northern Michigan’s Grand Traverse County.

Stunning Northern Michigan wildlife with creeks and an old natural beaver pond, what a wonderful place to relax, and soak in the surroundings.

Step out of the hectic stress of the everyday and take a moment at one of the many areas to soak up what you have disconnected from. Feel the wind across your skin, the Earth beneath your feet and the Sun shining down. Hear the birds singing, the trees swaying in the wind and what animal was that? See the deer frolicking, birds flying, trees growing and how nature all comes together. Smell the Earth, the Pine from the trees and the wild flowers. Take some time and wonder, lose yourself in Nature and get refreshed.

Rustic Camping, wake up to a beautiful sunrise, listen to the birds singing away, with the chance of seeing any of Northern Michigan’s awesome wildlife.

Sunsets are spectacular with so many different colors, and on a Clear night look up at the stars without the lights of a big city.

The campground was unbelievably affordable and had extremely good service for such a low price. Originally a tree farm, there are almost 100 acres to explore. Campsites are clean, nicely spread apart from one another and very private. We were able to choose exactly what we wanted.

Hospitality from the owners was well beyond what was expected. The whole family was very sweet and they made this our best camping experience so far.

This was our first time using Hipcamp, and we could not have been more impressed. Bear’s property was well-maintained, beautifully secluded, and yet close to everything in the area. Bear not have been a more accommodating host. He and his family went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. We especially enjoyed being able to pick a secluded spot to camp, and having Bear deliver a fire ring to that spot. This was our favorite camping experience of all time except for our trip to glacier national Park, because the property was so secluded, quiet, and peaceful. Don’t Even get us started on the stars at night.

The House of Bear was amazing! Bear welcomed us as we arrived and help set up our tent because it broke. (LOL) Then, he took us for a ride throughout the farm and showed us the beautiful 97 acres he owns. The farm is beautiful, the camp sites are well kept, clean, and private. We had our own fire ring, chairs, and a clean toilet to use. The location is wonderful, 35 minutes from Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes and only 25 minutes from Traverse City. Overall, the stay was perfect! I would recommend this place to a friend and definitely come again! Thank you, Bear!

Holy cow I was blown away. Bear's place was better than advertised. My friends and I loved camping here. Bear was an awesome host, met everyone as we filtered in throughout the day, and was helping out all the other campers that were there.
I would definitely recommend staying here and will look to stay here on our next trip to Traverse City.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at the House of Bear. He greeted us and took us on a tour of his beautiful tree farm and gave us some chairs to sit on since we forgot ours. Bear was a great host and he also gave us our own fire pit to use! I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
