12/10 Would absolutely recommend! The drive was unbelievable and then, when you finally make it, the campsite was incredible. The map and directions were right on; didn't have any issues finding the spot. The drive up the hill wasn't anything too crazy, we went up in an outlander with basic AWD and didn't have any issues. Very quiet area, we enjoyed the sounds of birds and rain falling... don't ruin it by bringing an obnoxious generator. We enjoyed having a roomy bathroom that did not stink like an outhouse. We highly, highly recommend staying at the whispering redwoods campsite.

What you see is what you get here — a gorgeous, secluded redwood grove for a peaceful night. The bathroom was clean and professionally done. There’s a road that passes close to the site, so you can hear any cars that pass. Other than that it was clear the hosts wanted us to feel welcome and at ease in every way.

Never got a response from the host when we got lost looking for the spot. Actually never got a response from the host at all. The GPS eventually got us there when we decided to forgo the hosts confusing written directions. We were excited for a private “hiking trail” and were a little disappointed to find it was hardly a short walking path… also couldn’t imagine navigating that road without 4 wheel drive but looks like some of the locals did it just fine.

Loved this camp site and would recommend to others. We used this as a base for adventuring in the surrounding redwood parks. Although a bit of a drive to some of the Northern parks, it was well worth it. The camp is fairly easy to get to and sits just off the road, but there is little to no traffic and the entire area is very quiet. Each night we would hear an owl start hooting as the sun went down. The bathroom was easy to use and clean. The only thing that could make this site even better would be an outdoor shower. We would stay here again next time we come to the area.

Such a fun time!! We booked this pretty last minute and didn't have any issues finding it with the directions provided. Feels secluded. It was fun sitting by the creek and little waterfalls, we truly didn't want to leave. There's a light that you can turn on that will light up the outside a bit, it was really nice to have that option. Thanks for the great experience!!

Convenient location to Redwood National and State Park and other amenities. Quiet with own compost toilet and pump wash = glamping 😜
First night was Wednesday - several cars went by, but, again, pretty quiet. If you want to avoid state campgrounds where there are people around you, pick this hipcamp.
Host was responsive when informed of full bear-proof trash bin. Would stay, again.

We had a wonderful two nights at Whispering Redwood Creek. It was very spacious, with beautiful trees and a lovely footbridge over the creek. Chris gave very good directions and we had no trouble finding the site. We had a relatively easy drive up in a 4WD SUV, but would have had trouble if in a less durable vehicle or with an inexperienced gravel road driver. We loved the picnic table and gathering area, and felt it would have been perfect size for a larger group than us (3 adults). Toilet worked great, BYO potable water & large propane tank if you want to use the fire. We were totally fine with our small camp cookstove. Would DEFINITELY stay here again- what a lovely experience.

Phenomenal experience! We wanted to be secluded and we got it! Beautiful spot with a quaint babbling brook nearby. Flat pull through with picnic table and gas fire pit. The bathroom is a cool futuristic added feature. Simple composting toilet and pump sink, both very clean and well kept. We arrived in the dark, I would highly advise against this! We needed our 4.7 transfer case and 4x4 to back up on the steep road as we missed the turn. It was pitch black out and didn’t even see the bathroom marking the spot. The mushroom is about 15 feet back from the entrance. If you are a heavier rig I would suggest daylight or 4x4 at a minimum if you need to reposition yourself on the road. The directions were slightly confusing, especially in the dark. Overall we would definitely recommend and stay again!

Beautiful piece of land. The instructions to get there could probably be simpler. However I was still able to get there first try. The place is right off the road so it’s not so private but in the evening/early morning no one really comes by. Still, its peaceful. We really enjoyed the scenery and creek :) thanks!

Wow! Exquisite, mostly flat, and very clear area. Silo toilet worked as expected, nice benefit to have so close to the site. Light was helpful for set up but a bit aggressive for camping ambiance. Road felt way longer than it was when we went up at night but was actually pretty chill. Didn’t try the fire but was intrigued and love the concept. Trees were great to wrap lights on. Jumping off the bathroom platform was fun but maybe a bit treacherous in the dark (there are stairs though). Trail and bench was very cute, the little stream burbled delightfully. Sunlight never really made it to us - time is an illusion. Would stay here again with more propane.

This place was amazing. We spent 3 nights here in early January and it was everything we wanted. Sleeping in the rain forests while its raining was amazing. Having a toilet was very convenient with kids. The directions to this camp spot at first looks intimidating but its really easy. We havent slept that well in awhile and having a private camp spot made it feel very intimate. You can have spotty cell receptions. We were able to stream some youtube for the kids. We will return in the summer for a longer stay.

We had a great time camping here! The site was beautiful tucked amongst the redwoods and it felt very protected and private. We had our dog with us and felt comfortable with her off leash since the campsite was so contained. It was really nice to have a bathroom and picnic table too. The short nature trail was cute and we found a few banana slugs! The written directions from the host were great and super easy to follow to find camp. Highly recommend staying on Chris’s land for your next weekend in the redwoods!

This was a beautiful spot! It’s very private except for the rare car that drives by. So many big beautiful redwood trees surround the large site. Picnic table and fireplace is a nice touch.

This little spot is amazing!! So peaceful and quiet- ultimate relaxation. The surrounding trees are spectacular, the air feels crisp and clean, all you can hear is the breeze blowing through the trees. It was really nice to have an indoor potty (with motion sensor lights) too. We had our 3 dogs with us and they could just kind of mosey around the camp site. There is a very short little trail they enjoyed checking out. We pulled our tent trailer which was a bit tricky getting into the camp site but the owner happened to run into us on the road and was happy to help navigate us in. The road up to the site is very steep in places but we did fine in our truck. It takes about 15 min to get here from the highway. Totally worth it for this tranquil little spot. We'd definitely stay here again!

While this location is nice and private, the drive up to the site is quite an… adventure. Thankfully we drove in with my partners Subaru because my Mini Cooper may not have been able to handle it, especially in the rain. Just something to consider!
Regardless, this is a beautiful campsite tucked away into the trees! It’s well maintained and the bathroom is a huge plus. A “worth it” location if you’re not spooked by forest roads.

Gorgeous spot. Right off the road but there’s not a lot of road traffic so it still feels nice and secluded. The propane fire pit is a nice touch so I recommend bringing some propane!

Tent camped under the canopy of redwoods for three nights with family including our little dog. The road in is steep, like others have said, but my Honda Civic Hatchback made it just fine. The site is well maintained, fairly level, and covered with wood chips. The propane (bring a tank) fire pit added ambiance and a bit of warmth at night. It was nice to have a bathroom available with a motion sensor light (it will turn off when you're inside but waving your hands turns it back on). We didn't experience a lot of cars coming & going but some. Figured it's par for the course since folks live in the area. We did have a neighborhood dog come visit us but he didn't stick around long. The host, Chris, was very responsive and helpful which added to an overall positive experience. Would definitely stay again if camping in the area.

It is a secluded private site near a steep but well maintained gravel road. There are a number of similar sites spread out along the route but they are separated by a lot of distance. It is so peaceful out there up on the ridge. The sign for “hiking trail” must be a practical joke though. There is just a footpath that goes about 100 feet down into a creek bed and stops. We should have checked that before making a day pack, it’s the shortest hiking trail ever! Someone before us unfortunately did not clean up their dog poop either, and handwashing sink inside the bathroom stall was out of water.
