There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

Campsite 6 is a “park at site” campsite, there is a log to divide the campsite from the others, But there is space to back into the campsite. The campsite is not recommended for campers nor motorhomes. Rooftop tents, camper vans, and car camping is ok. One could bring a camper and park at the site if also tent camping. But the layout isn’t ideal if just using a camper or motor home. While you can park at campsite 6, we have a log dividing the campsite from the parking spot for the campsite. If you’d like your campsite to be directly next to your vehicle/campervan/etc… then we would recommend campsites 2, 3, 4, 5, or 7. We recommend bringing a wagon if you have kids and extra gear to haul to the swim hole. There are three different river access points right out the back of the site. We recommend bringing a wagon if you have kids and extra gear to haul to the swim hole. For Hiking we highly recommend the Cosumnes River Gorge, for fishing we recommend Caples Lake, Silver Lake, and Jenkinson Lake.

Group Site 8 is in about 300’ or less from the river and about 300’ from the bathrooms and potable water source. Campsite 8 is at the lowest end of the meadow and is next to a large umbrella shaped Apple tree. This site is a dispersed campsite with a large flat area and a shaded area that borders the treeline, with a large number possible locations for tents. Rooftop tents and popup trailer accessible. Site 8 has several different river access points right out the back of the sites. We recommend bringing a wagon if you have kids and extra gear to haul to the swim hole. Meadow View Trailer Site 1

The meadow view campsite has a “square-drop” camper on site that sleeps 3. The site is situated on the hill not too far from the bathrooms overlooking the neighboring meadow. It is only a 1 minute walk to the river. The camper has a picnic table, sink, a propane cook stove, utensils for 4 people, and powered lights. We provide propane for the cook stove but recommend that you bring your own propane (16oz) for the cook stove. The camper has provided bed sheets and pillows but you must bring your own blankets and we recommend bringing your own favorite pillows. The campsite has beautiful majestic oak trees around and provides a good amount of shade during warmer months. This campsite is about equal distance from both swim holes (+/-600’) and has a beautiful meadow view with a delightfully cool afternoon breeze. The site has a potable water spigot at the site and space for an additional tent. We also recommend bringing a wagon if you have gear, kids and a big lunch to haul to and from the swim hole. Fires are only allowed in designated fire pits while fire restrictions are not in place, here the fire restrictions generally run from about July 1 - November 15th depending on precipitation. We allow propane stoves/solo stoves year round. Firewood can be purchased on site year around. There are many excellent attractions in the area. For lakes there are Jenkinson lake, Bear river Reservoir, Lake Tahoe, Silver Lake, and Caples Lake. For fun attractions there is the Marshall gold discovery site as well as historic ‘Hangtown’ Placerville. Black Chasm Caverns are 27 miles away and Kirkwood Ski area is just over an hour away (depending on road closures during winter). For hiking trails, rock climbing, etc… we recommend Cusumnes River Gorge!

Plenty of space and easy access to the river. Pretty private starch of the river, too, as other campsites head to the swim hole beach to enter. We had a tow hitch that was low rider and it scraped on EVERYTHING on the way in but we packed differently on the way out and my stress was lower. Overall great site

Beautiful property! Having the river there was such a treat, especially in the triple digit heat the weekend we camped. Noleen was super responsive and helpful. Bathrooms were clean the entire weekend we were there. Bringing home your trash (even bathroom trash like tampons) and $20/car after the first car was a bit inconvenient but all in all, we were very happy with the campground.

Came here with some friends and our dogs! we loved the spot a lot. the river access was great. we brought some floats and had our dogs play fetch in the water. our site had a good amount of shade, and at night we were able to stargaze. The milky way was visible and we caught lots of shooting stars too! the site had a good amount of space with leveled spots. we had two big trucks that were able to fit. bathrooms were very clean and were stocked with good toilet paper.

Tent Site 8 GROUP SITE
Noleens property was beautiful, we had a larger party and stayed at site 8. The private access to the Consumes river was fantastic, especially during the hot weekend we were there. The kids loved seeing the fish, frogs, and tadpoles in the river. The property was clean, and also very private. There were other campers nearby but we didn't hear them at all. I would definitely stay here again!

We loved it! Site 9 was so cozy, and we loved how it was kind of apart from the other sites so it had more privacy. The lake was so great, fresh and beautiful. We had no problems at all with the place, everything was so so nice! I would totally recommend this place. We loved that it was dog friendly and that we were able to bring them with us! We had 3 tents and a canopy set up at the site and all our camping chairs still fit and all. It was such a spacious site!

Aside from having to park away from our tent site, I absolutely loved camping at site 9! We had some shade and the enclosed site felt a little more private. We were next to a couple paths to the river which made going between the site and the river super convenient. It is a walk to the bathroom, as that is up the hill, but it worked out for us. Appreciated the communication from Noleen and her flexibility with us as well as having a real toilet space that was spider free (my 4 year old made that comment specifically). The area and site is very dusty, so I’d recommend bringing an entry way mat and broom - minor details but thought this might be helpful. Overall this was a great family and pet experience!

Meadow View Trailer Site 1
This place is INCREDIBLE!!! What a relief to get away from the constant noise/stress/stimuli and allow my soul to rest for a bit amongst the towering oaks, soothing sounds of the babbling river, and billions of stars at night! We so needed this! Thank you Noleen and team for the much needed escape. And the bed in the trailer is so comfy! There’s like a foam mattress that makes it better than my own bed at home! Our 9 year old daughter was able to sleep on the bunk inside and our 7 year old daughter enjoyed her crack at the foot of the bed, but she may be an anomaly…! They slept out in a tent the first night but loved the trailer so much they crashed with us the second. This place is so unreal and I’ve been telling everyone I know not to waste another moment at a public campground because this is where true restoration can happen! Can’t wait to go back!

Tent Site 3
The good: Tent site 3 was fantastic with privacy, shade, stargazing, being able to hear the birds and the river, and having quick and easy access to a little beach where we barely saw anyone else. Delightful, and the shade and easy water access were saving graces during a VERY hot weekend. The bad: We were frustrated that there was only one bathroom that had a working door (for the entire campground!) and that one had a gap in the door right at eye level, so it was neither a private nor relaxing experience to use. And we do think that there should be a mention BEFORE BOOKING that roosters may start to crow loudly at any hour of the night (or day). All in all we appreciated these folks sharing their little slice of paradise and river with us. We got to enjoy a healing dose of nature this weekend, and all ages in our party had a pretty great time.

Walk-in Tent Site 9
We loved staying in campsite 9!! The campsite has plenty of room, enough for two maybe even three tents. The site is surrounded by trees and very shady. We had no difficulty hanging up two hammocks, just bring extra ropes as the trees can be 10-15 ft apart. Campsite 9 is separated from the other creek-side sites by a trail and also has a private trail leading to the swimming area, so it feels very private. At the same time it isn’t too secluded to make friends with the other campers! The walk from the parking spot/the spigot is very short, maybe a minute max. The well water is great for drinking! The bathrooms were in great condition, though they are about a four minute walk uphill. There was plenty of wildlife, we saw deer, fish, and plenty of birds. However, on our way out we saw a black bear on ant hill road. We didn’t have any difficulties with animals getting into our food, we had a food tent rather than taking stuff back to the car and that worked great. Noleen and Jobe seemed very nice, I only had the chance to chat with Jobe in person but he was very welcoming and offered great suggestions. Something that we didn’t have any problem with but could be nice to know is that the household is very religious. There are free books on christianity/prayer by the bathrooms and the house was playing very loud worship music on one of the mornings. Highly recommend Jenkinson Lake for outdoor activities, but the river onsite is wonderful. Deep enough to swim and beautiful!!

Tent Site 8 GROUP SITE
Campsites were very clean. The river was absolutely amazing! The perfect temperature for a hot summer day. Everyone was friendly. The bathrooms were clean. We would definitely come back.

We had a great time, but I think we just got lucky. We got to one of the small beach areas before others. You can see all the pros in the other reviews, so I will just lay out a few cons worth noting: - not worth the price - beach areas very very small - camp is dog friendly, but not all dogs are friendly; with small beach areas it's hard to stay clear of barking dogs - poison oak is everywhere, naturally. But it was even right in front of the water spigot; here and tent-specific areas could be better weeded for this plant specifically. - if you go when fires are allowed, be aware there are no fire pits! - Bring your own TP. Sure, the toilet paper is nice quality, but there were a total of 4 rolls for the whole weekend, and a full campground. (this includes the 2 backup rolls in the tupperware) - there is a sink to wash your hands right next to the bathroom, which is awesome. But no communal soap; you just have to remember to bring your own with you up to the bathroom each time.

We had such an amazing time! The final drive in is 2 miles of dirt road so you need to go slow but totally worth it. Hosts were communicative, campers for friendly, was nice to have toilets and the river access was amazing. We spent hours swimming and exploring! Will for sure come again soon!

Very nice spot, private. Somewhat reception but not much, which is good if you’re trying to get away. FYI, we got our burger buns stolen which was a bummer, but that’s not the owners fault!! Bathrooms close by, along with clean water and water to wash hands.

The campsite was awesome. The people that were running it were great however I’ve tried several times to get a hold of Hipcamp app people because they double charged my card and no one will return my emails or calls to credit me back.

I love camping here! I’ve been here a few times before, it’s been a while since the last time and they’ve made some upgrades. I will continue to come back. It’s beautiful, peaceful, safe, and well maintained. I 100% recommend this place. I solo camp with a dog and always have the best time.

There are four fantastic sites clustered together along this beautiful river and site 5 is along the river bank. We have stayed here twice and it fits two families with room to gather in between our campers. We opt for a central kitchen so we cook and clean up and can keep an eye on the kids. I would stay all summer if I could. It’s a lovely camp area and nice river access. There is a bit of poison oak but with caution it can be avoided .

Spectacular sweet spot along the river. a couple of working flush toilets and available potable water as well. great area. great hosts. we have been twice and will be back again. Access road is perfectly reasonable for cars. We also have towed in small trailer. tent sites are large and roomy.

This is a fabulous place with great water access. Bring your floaties! We were there in July and the water was perfect. Camp site #5 had plenty of shade and was very comfortable. Know that the two toilets are a bit of a hike uphill from the river front sites. We'd go back.

Amazing place to camp! Site 3 is close to the river, great for kids, and gets a great mix of sun and shade. It's enough shade to keep cool, and enough sun to dry swim gear and sun bathe. The whole camp site was cute and clean. We felt safe and loved how responsive and communicative Noleen was. We love our crystals that we bought from them, and buying firewood at a camlsite was a camping game changer! Their dog was super friendly too! We would definitely camp here again!

This is one of my favorite hipcamps. I especially like it when I’m by myself, but don’t we all. I have stayed at several sites, my favorite is 7 but for more privacy I like 3. I love the consumes river, it’s clean, and beautiful and great to float and swim in. Such a nice camping get away. I hope to make it back again this year.

Walk-in Tent Site 9
Site 9 was a gem! It was very large and tucked away from the other sites, so felt very private except for the occasional passer by on the path to the river. Being a walk-in site had its challenges, but it was a short walk up/down a hill. It was mostly protected by trees and tall foliage so very private, and also close to the river (not right on the river). Every other camper we encountered was amazingly nice. Dogs were allowed off-leash down in the site and at the river (if well-behaved) which means the world to me and my pup. The river itself was fun. You can walk up a bit and then tube back down. Some campers reported a small waterfall on a slab of rock that can be ridden by tube down! I'll have to check that out next time. I also want to spend time at the swim hole by site 3 in the future. All in all we had a fantastic July 4th weekend relaxing at the river and at a couple of the nearby wineries!

We loved our cabin stay and restorative time at the river! The cabin stayed nicely cool for the first half of the day. We brought an extra tent with us for the included tent site, and it was a nice retreat in the later afternoon. Noleen was friendly and helpful. We'd love to return one day! Thank you!
