Description

Throw up your “gone fishin’” sign and head out to Brown Lake Campground—the boss man will never find you. The campground’s 18 first-come, first-served sites sit along beautiful (non-motorized) Brown Lake in perfect serenity. Fly fishermen bait cutthroat and rainbow trout, while swimmers and boaters soak up Brown’s beauty, and, when you get too pruney, explore the trails that lead off from the site, winding through old growth cedar.

I am 63 years old and fondly remember our trips to Browns Lake with our grandparents. I returned to the lake a few years ago and it is similar to what it was in the 1950's. Lots of space between sites and beautiful scenery. I haven't fished the lake since long ago and hope it still holds the type of trout we used to catch. It is a fly fishing lake only. There is a fee to camp and a daily boat launching fee so be prepared for that. I think the fee to camp is 14.00 per night but don't quote me on that. If you want some quiet and beautiful camping head to Browns. As kids we used to say "if this is Browns Lake, where is Mr. Brown?" Still a mystery to me.
