Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, a clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non-4WD can park). The waterfall is reached by a single trail track from the campsite, and you do need to be an experienced hiker to get to the waterfall. Which is part of the appeal! We welcome self-contained campers, who bring their own toilet and take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. Or choose to stay in our beautiful A-frame cabin, with plush bedding, cozy fire, and outdoor lounge. More than anything else this is a place to relax and be away from normal, live outside yourself, and rediscover what weekends are for.  Dogs are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife. Campfires are allowed, BYO firewood or campers can collect fallen timber from the property.

Nestled amongst the mountains just outside of the township of Whittlesea our 40-acre property sits above the clouds. This experience comes with sweeping views, a hidden waterfall, clear campground, and plenty of wildlife. The camp site : The main free camping site is located approximately 100m down the hill from the A frame cabin and is separate to the cabin site although still feels private, safe and relatively isolated. Through winter this area can be grassed although in the summer months is relatively dry. The area easily fits 3 small tents with cars and everything else with a mix of trees for cover and views to inspire. The larger open space closer to the cabin can be booked for larger groups when continent on the A frame not being booked. There are currently no amenities in this free camping space so bring everything you need. Campers are welcomed to use other tables, outdoor couches, and hammock nets on the property. Access: The camping area is accessible by 4WD only, otherwise, strap on a backpack and earn it! (800m walk/hike from where a non 4WD can park). The driveway has been renovated late last year. It is now a relatively smooth gravel / dirt track. The driveway does have speed bumps which have helped to move water off the driveway. These can be problematic for small cars. Parking: if you choose to park and walk or have a friend drive you to the summit there is ample of street parking at the base of the driveaway. Approximately 10 cars without concern. Toilet : We have a basic communal toilet ( outhouse ) this is cleaned weekly and services the A frame cabin and free campers. Hot Tub: The free camp site is located next to a newly restored wood fired hot tub. We strongly recommend including this into the experience. Hire of the tub includes the fire heater being set and water being delivered. You just light the fire when you arrive, set up camp and in 2 – 3 hour your hot tub will be toasty. Power: The free camping and A frame cabin have no power access. There is access to a BBQ which has ample Gas. Fire wood: Fallen trees are welcome to be used for fires, Wheel barrows of fire wood can be purchased for an additional price. Please check fire restrictions for open fire use. Waterfall track: The waterfall is reached by a goat trail from the campsite leading down into the valley. We recommend hiking boots or work boots as the terrain is steep and loose in areas. You’ll need to ascend down the north face of the mountain into the valley. Follow the creek scrambling either side of the creek, where you will find 4 waterfalls ranging from 2 – 4metres in height. Dogs: are welcome, so long as they don't bother the wildlife same goes for cats. We welcome self-contained campers, who take all waste with them. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy. We do not provide bins so please BYO rubbish bags. Frequently asked questions 1. Will there be other people camping? We only rent the one free camping area at one time. We do additionally rent the A-frame cabin. We have found the cabin and free camp area feel secluded enough to not impact the feeling of care free camping. 2. Will my 2WD get up the driveway? Maybe although we are only allow 4WD and AWD up the mountain. If you chose to park your park at the bottom there is plenty of parking Although we recommend hiring the A Frame in this case/ 3. Is there drinking water provided. We have water in a Water tank easily accessible via hose and have BPA free 20L containers to fill. 4. Is there a toilet. Yes there is a basic outhouse toilet. Which services both the A frame and Free campers. 5. Do I need to purchase wood? No, and you’re welcome to go and collect wood to burn. Although we provide this service upon request. 6. Can we have 15 -20 guests . Yes, that’d be epic fun. We’d just need to ensure the A frame cabin is not booked so that you can have the larger space and we can block out the A frame from being booked. 7. Can we book both the A frame and Free camp site ? Yes, in this case the easiest way forward is to just book the A Frame and add additional guest from there. 8. I’d prefer to have the whole place to ourselves? Can I do that and what would that cost? Msg Patrick directly. Based on season and prior bookings this can be done for a small fee.

The campsite offers stunning views and a sense of seclusion that many campers appreciate. However, guests have noted issues with maintenance and amenities, including a steep driveway that requires a 4WD and a lack of clean water. While some found the experience peaceful and enjoyable, others were disappointed by the site's upkeep and the cost relative to the provided facilities. Despite these concerns, the site remains a popular choice for those seeking a quiet retreat with beautiful scenery.
