We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 4 acre pond which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. Frolic has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to sweat, craft, pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass, running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin full of apples 🍎 & pears 🍐. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with its own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. We will be respectful but likely just need to cool down. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

Our skin oils, lotions, sunscreen, insect repellent, and hair products can wreak havoc with the filters and cleanliness of the water, which I work hard to maintain as pristine. 3.) We have owned our 20 acre ranch for 12 years. We enjoy the peace and quiet and beautiful views surrounded by oak trees. We love hiking down to the river. Very private; seldom do you come across other people. Amador brewing, Solid Ground brewing and the world famous Poor Reds are about 30 minutes away. Learn more about this land: Renovated guesthouse on 20 acres in the gold country. 1900 feet elevation. 30 minute hike to the Consumnes River, with beaches and swimming. Great sunrises, sunsets and stars. Mountain biking available. Rock outcroppings for climbers. About a 30 minute drive to numerous wineries and the foothill towns of Plymouth and Placerville. The kitchen has a vintage stove with four burners and two ovens, microwave, toaster oven, and sink.  You will also have access to a full size refrigerator. Outside is a propane bbq with two side burners for your use. There is one bedroom with a full bed and in the living room is a trundle bed that converts to two twins. We have installed hardwood laminate flooring throughout guesthouse; some of the pictures show the prior cement floor. There is wifi, Verizon and At&t get good reception.  We use our phones for internet and streaming.  There is a 50 inch TV and dvd player. Bring your own hardware/cords if you want to stream from your phone.   We have goats  if you would like to feed or with. My wife and I live on the property in a house about 200 feet away. You will have as much privacy/interaction as you desire.  Our garage is attached to the guesthouse,  so I may need to access it occasionally during your stay.  We also travel so you may have the property to yourself. We do have two dogs on the property. The Australian healeris very friendly. The Anatolian shepherd is a watch dog so he will bark at you upon arrival and then settle down and leave you alone. You may hear him barking at night at any moving wildlife (deer, turkey, etc.). The last 4.5 miles of the drive to the property is on a winding road.  Please drive carefully.

The cabin is perfect size for a couple and had all the creature comforts you need. We brought our two dogs and they loved being outside and exploring in the woods while we enjoyed some porch reading. Host was responsive and friendly.

3 nights at 4,000 Ft Closer to Heaven

The view from the cabin was striking. You can still see the fireline marking the western edge of the Caldor fire in 2021. Now going on five seasons afterward it is heartening to see the forest begin recovery. Sunset reveals the coastal range in the distance, then darkness brings out both the distant city lights and the stars overhead. It's quite a view. The cabin has a huge comfy bed and a breakfast nook, but we used the picnic table outside for meals. The weather was perfect. You don't expect a flush toilet at a hipcamp site, so that was a nice surprise! Had a very restful couple days that we needed so much.

It was a beautiful and peaceful place. The cabin itself was simple, clean, and nice. Just a heads-up that the bathroom and shower are not inside the cabin; you have to walk about 2 minutes to reach them. However, they were clean and the shower was ready to use.

I found the location and land to be beautiful and while I was there it was very private as no one else was around. The Geronimo cabin was spacious and Adam was kind enough to offer a flashlight since I forgot mine.

Weekend Trip to Sage

Sage Cabin and the property is a peaceful place, perfect to unwind. After three days, my body felt like I had a 90 minute massage and my mind was calm. The highlights are the hot shower next to the cabin, the hot tub 10 feet away, and a gourmet kitchen 30 feet away. This is centered around a huge fire pit area. The room has a heater, towels sheets and a nice cozy blanket for the lower and upper bed, dresser, light and electric outlets. WiFi is available. The host Bobby was kind, friendly and onsite if we needed anything. His dog Tanner provided great entertainment with his playful but obedient demeanor. The town of Pioneer is 5 minutes drive with groceries and almost anything you might need away from home. I highly recommend the Sage cabin if you’re looking for a relaxing place to stay or just passing through on your way to Kirkwood or Tahoe.

Quaint lil cabin off less traveled side roads in the Sierra Nevada foothills. It's got all the amenities you need and is close enough to Tahoe for day trips! Jeff is super responsive and helpful host. Definitely bookmarking this place.

Second time we have been here. Amazing property, plenty of dirt roads and light off roading if interested. Great place for kids to disconnect. The lack of wifi is a pro for my family rather than a con. The kids went to go play on their bikes and explore. The actual cabin is well outfitted with a fridge, stove and three nice bedrooms. There is a main house on the property with wifi if you absolutely need it. We plan on coming back again

This is the second time we've stayed at Jeff's offgrid cabin and we loved it. Tucked away in the trees with all the amenities you need. The land is quiet and picturesque, the cabin is cozy and comfortable. We really like it up there and would absolutely go again.

Jeff's little slice of heaven by Tahoe National Forest was the perfect retreat for my husband and our dog. Directions were clear, the lights were on when we arrived at night, and it had all the basic necessities to support our weekend of adventuring. We had great hiking access not too far away and then a spot to return to to unwind.

Everything here was really cool! Bobby was a great host and was very helpful. The cooking area was well stocked with lots of spices and ingredients. The cabin was very cozy and perfect for glamping. The shower facilities were nice and stocked. Also, Tanner (Bobby’s 2yr old Labrador) was an amazing Co-Host. There was also a little meditation area that was a nice place to sit at night with the string lights outside.

Matia was super responsive and helpful in the lead up to my stay as well as being communicative and welcoming during my stay. There isn't service where the cabin is located and Matia was very clear with expectations and overall just a delight of a host. The space was charming and quaint and exactly what I needed for a long weekend last minute trip. It gets toasty in there, just make sure to not make the same mistake I did and try and bring firewood that isn't damp.

Weekend Trip to Lazy Bear Cabin

Jeff's place met all of our expectations. It's a cozy cabin with a gas stove, fridge, and a pull-out couch which was decent. We brought our own bed linens and comforters. We were not expecting hotel bedding and knew what to bring. It was cold at night, but the fireplace kept us comfortable. We have enough experience camping and using fireplaces, so it was not an issue for us. We cooked our meals and took warm showers. Our dog had a great time wandering the endless forest behind the cabin. We had all the privacy we needed, yet Jeff was always available and responsive in communications. He gave us great suggestions for hiking and snow play. On the day of checkout we had over a foot of snow, and Jeff helped clear the path for us to get to the road. We had 4WD so had no problems, but I definitely don’t recommend a 2WD during winter conditions. The I-80 road closure and chain mandate usually happen a couple of miles north of Jeff’s exit, so the location is perfect. It’s 40 minutes to Truckee and 30 minutes from Auburn.

This was such a wonderful spot for a group trip! The kitchen and living room layout are perfect for game nights and communal dinners, and there are lots of lovely individual rooms to retreat to for solo time. We had a great time exploring local trails and we would definitely stay again. Hosts were responsible and responsive!

Weekend Trip to Magical Lost Sierra Bungalow!

The trip to the cabin was truly magical! Sierra City is a tiny little town (and most of it is closed in the winter), so this is truly a place to get away from it all. The cabin felt spacious, even with 8 people and 3 dogs present. The inside, outside, and surrounding area is so beautiful. It’s an amazing place to lounge or go for a nice walk by the rivers. Rachel is also an amazing host and all of our needs were met!

Great experience at Wisdom Reserve with our family! Adam was great in answering all of our questions prior to arriving. The Cabin was nicely equipped with everything we needed.
