Located at the confluence of the Meramec River and Labarque Creek, my place (Matt's Place) is a ridge above a bottomland bowl of sorts.
The old iron truss bridge here is likely built in 1910 and it has a survey marker from 1932.
The creek has a nice little swimming hole, and a beach that is sometimes sand, sometimes, gravel, and sometimes a mix of both with some silt or even mud after a storm. It's peaceful down there to explore in the creek, wade while looking outward to an opening into the Meramec River. It's also fun to stand just at the mouth of the creek in the Meramec River. It's an awesome view upstream or downstream of tree lined banks, rock bluffs, and every now and then, passing boats, canoes, paddle boards, or kayaks. The old iron truss bridge hovers above the meeting of two waters. The water is cool and clean. Some fifty species of fish have been recorded in this creek, the most in all of Jefferson County and St Louis County. The bottomland has two levels, the lower bottoms down by the creek and the upper bottoms about a hundred feet from the creek. The upper bottoms has a clearing like a meadow with mowed grass.
My favorite things to do here include gazing up at a cottonwood tree that must be sixty feet tall. It's leaves in a breeze are like a thousand hands waving hello. The bottomland meadow offers just enough sky to see bats dance in the dusk air between the trees, then fireflies as it gets darker yet. Up top is where I live.
Just five miles off HWY 44 and HWY 109, at Eureka, MO, (30 minutes west of downtown St Louis, 18 minutes from Six Flags) this place sits on a ridge with great views above the Meramec River.

The Magic Land Homestead is our 70 acre wooded private retreat. We are about an hour from St. Louis, Missouri, on a beautiful country drive. We rent our Enchanted Treehouse that sleeps up to 9 guests for those who enjoy a more pampered getaway with a real bathroom and shower, and we also rent out a Rustic A-Frame that's a little more primitive with a composting toilet and a hose shower out back.
Our four free range lovable dogs, colorful chickens, silly geese and goofy turkey Hammerstein, are usually part of the fun of your stay. We have a 3 acre lake with kayak and paddle boat and dock as well as a spring fed wet weather creek.
Our mission is to grow our own organic food and to live as sustainably and mindfully as possible in connection with Mother Nature. So the guests we attract are looking for a sacred more quiet getaway. If you wish to throw a big party another place would be best.

HGTV called my Dragonfly a "gram-worthy vintage camper beyond stunning!" This 1967 12-ft darling sits on 85 wooded acres with trails, fishing pond, fire pit, hammock, swings, picnic table, A/C, heat, microwave, mini fridge, gas stove, hardwood floors, indoor bath w/shower and also outdoor heated rain shower. Enjoy muffins, cookies, fruit, milk, juice, coffee and tea on day 1. No smoking anywhere on property.
Tenting Options and Extra Guest Fees: Camper sleeps a strict maximum of 3 guests. Up to 4 additional guests may camp in tents on the grounds for $10/person/night. Total group size (camper + tent guests) cannot exceed 7.
Tent guests must provide their own tent and bedding.
Leave No Trace: Tent guests, please take everything you bring with you, including trash, food waste, gear, and personal items. Thank you for preserving the beauty of the space for future guests!

Weekend Trip to Matt's Place at Meramec n Labarque
It was a lifesaver having AC and a little pool to cool off in, very chill, kinda funky atmosphere Matt was very good about respecting my space and offering support in any . It was just what I needed for the Lions Gate weekend. Lots of birds and different critters. The chickens are fun to watch. Ellie is a gem, very sweet dog and protective. The place is close to a two lane road that can get a little busy but no one can see the property.

Our group of 6 adults and 5 kids had an absolute blast at Elizabeth’s. Tent camping in July can be hot for littles so we rented Lucy the Skooli to cool off the kids and have a central place to hang out if it rained. It was absolutely perfect! I do highly recommend keeping your eyes out for ticks and using a good bug spray! That won’t keep us from coming back :)

This is an extremely family-friendly campground. The majority of folks we saw had kids with them of all ages. The vibe was very free spirited and I loved all the flow toys at night. Festival-goers or burners with kids would feel right at home here. There were lots of things for our family to do, including baby goats, cute cats and dogs, friendly farm animals, aerial swings set up in a covered pavilion, lakeside toys and a special kids workshop (extra charge).
The bell tent was perfect for our family of four (two adults and two toddlers). Note that the two box fans take up two spots on the power strip, leaving just one free plug for electronics. We didn't need a pack and play but it would likely be a tight squeeze to fit one in. Also, most sites don't have a picnic table.
The communal kitchen was a fantastic amenity. Having a large sink, stove, and pots and pans to cook with helped simplify packing on our end. There was plenty of table, fridge and freezer space. It also provided a nice shaded gathering place for everyone staying on the property.
There were four compost toilets. The electric lights weren't working during our stay so be sure to bring a flashlight at night. The pump sinks and soap outside ran out on Saturday, but I messaged Elizabeth the owner and it was taken care of promptly.
We really enjoyed our time here and plan to return to this special campsite!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawks Bluff. Elizabeth was very friendly and an excellent host. The animals were a special treat to visit with and the gift/rock shop was stocked with some awesome specimens of rocks and minerals. The amount of collectable druse and agate found here is mind blowing! We definitely reccomend checking it out. I know we will be back on a future visit soon.

We had a lovely stay at The Dragonfly! Gay Ann was a wonderful host and took such great care to make us comfortable. The camper was so sweet and cozy. My 13 year old and I slept comfortably in the two beds and had a great time exploring the trails and fishing in the pond. The camper was clean and in exceptional condition. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need including a coffee percolator and coffee!! Lots of outdoor amenities like a fire pit stocked with wood, playground equipment, hammock, and plenty of seating. We would be happy to return and highly recommend staying here. The muffins and cookies were a delicious treat and favorite of my son’s.

The farm and staff are absolutely fantastic! We had an issue with charges, which they resolved with some investment of time on their part. They all I’ve and beyond in service. Helping us find our site in the dark, making sure we had enough supplies and even throwing a pair of jeans in the dryer for our teenager 😁

We had such a wonderful stay at the Dragonfly. It was everything we wanted and more. The host was so friendly, welcoming and she makes the best chocolate chip cookies. Everything was so easy to use and we enjoyed the land and it’s not too far from town. There was a sweet kitty we met roaming around the pond. The camper was warm and a snug fit in the bed for two adults. The outdoor shower is definitely a highlight. It was so fun and refreshing. It was a rainy weekend and the shower got so hot it was perfect mixed with the cold rain!
