This is our guest house. It resides on a 9-acre property that is shared with our home. The guest house offers lots of privacy including a seperate outdoor area behind the guest house. The other amenities are shared. Eco tours with the owners is sometimes available including kayaking, hikiing, swimming in the river and off road trail rides on a utility vehicle through a 200 acre nature preserve.

This was an excellent experience. The family vibe at Hostel in the Forest was incredibly welcoming. They have been around 50 years and their systems were clear and my orientation was lovely and complete. The land is really happy and magical. I am so grateful for the opportunity to land in this place for a night, and will certainly return again if the time aligns.

2 nights at Okefenokee Pastimes Cabins and Camp

If you’re going to the swamp to kayak, this is a great location. It is right across from the National Wildlife Refuge entry. I stayed in the most basic cabin, whites just two beds, a mini fridge, microwave, fire pit, and small screened porch. Cabin is the size of a bedroom, basically. Communal shower and bathroom was satisfactory for a camping experience. Don’t expect hotel quality in the bathroom, that’s not what this is about. Charlene, a caretaker, was kind and helpful. I stayed her with my adult son. Perfect for two people. We brought a portable grill to make our own food and also went to Folkston for one dinner. It is quiet and family friendly. The swamp is an amazing natural wonder.

A real Enchanting experience for my family. We met so many wonderful people and it was an absolute de stressing for me. I loved every bit and part of it. This place is amazing and we are going back in two weeks.
