Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga. We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres. Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign). We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water! Our well and cabins are all solar-powered as we are not on the electric grid.
Some info about the property:
-we DO NOT have water or power hookups
-we have gravel roads with a 5 MPH speed limit on the property (if you drive too fast the roads will seem rough)
-we are right next to a highway and train tracks so there will be some noise (some days are better than others and we have no way of predicting how many trains will/will not go by)
-none of our campsites have picnic tables (please plan accordingly)
-most campsites have fire rings built, but if you choose a site without one you need to build your own

Out little slice of heaven has a beautiful spring fed creek and two large fields to play in. The creek can be waist deep in areas but mostly is good for sitting in and just relaxing. Extremely quiet on a dead end road. We have 5 bars of AT&T 5g cell service, Verizon can be hit or miss. All other cell services do not work. We love the creek and our secluded valley. Only a few farmers live down the road. This makes for a very private experience that can be naturalist / clothing optional friendly. The creek is secluded with plenty of trees to enjoy however you wish.
Spaces are extremely level and there are good Satellite tv abilities. We have firewood on site and two stone fire pits. Nearby is a wonderful old grist mill, Tim's Ford state park, Tim's Ford lake, Jack Daniels Distillery and other attractions. We are also about 45 minutes from Huntsville, AL with the NASA Space and Science Center. Space #1 is closest to the road. Space #2 has a larger patio. This retreat is the Perfect way to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, yet not too far away from essentials. Hiking adventures nearby include University of the South Domain, Buggy Top, Walls Of Jerico and many more.
30 and 50 Amp pedestals at each site along with water and sewer hookups. Level sites. Due to health regulations, we only accept RVs with a pottie system as we do not offer bathroom facilities.

We have a working farm with sweeping views of Lookout mountain and only 12 minutes from all the comforts of downtown Chattanooga. Our expansive 120-acre property provides campers with the freedom to choose their camping spots anywhere on the farm.
Farm animals include horses, cattle, hogs, chickens, goats, bees, stocked ponds, gardens and much more. We have strategically placed signs throughout the property to help you identify potential neighbors. If you desire the company of ducks, consider setting up camp near our picturesque duck pond. For those who prefer the rustic crowing of roosters to a phone alarm, we have four chicken coops dispersed across the farm. Our horses freely roam the front pastures. The cows enjoy grazing on lush grass and taking refreshing dips in the ponds. They also relish watching the sunset from the hill's vantage point, as it offers the best view on the farm.
We are a working farm with staff tending to various jobs throughout the day. We have a map to show where the camping site sits on the property. We intentionally leave some of our fields uncut. In some fields, the grass can come up above the knees. We leave that to the animals to take care of. All of our staff are super friendly and happy to help guide you to the best camping spot and answer any questions. In searching for your campsite please note that there may be livestock in and around certain areas as we rotate pastures.
Potable well water can be located from the blue spigot outside of the staff housing area, in between the orange and green tiny home, and outside the outdoor shower.

This was my favorite Hipcamp spot so far...beautiful location, convenient to where we wanted to hike (Little River Canyon and DeSoto Falls), great directions, communication, amazing views, super nice hosts, just the right amount of amenities privacy and quiet...couldn't have designed it any better in my head.

Dark Hollow is an amazing place! The sites are well maintained and several have phenomenal views. There is plenty of space between sites and plenty of privacy. I stayed in The Ledge site and it was perfect for me. While it rained each day during my stay, it cleared enough fo me to check out the trail they have on property. It is a fairly rugged trail of switchbacks down into the bottom and it continues across the creek and up the opposite hillside. All in all, despite the rain this was an excellent trip! I have to say that this is one of, if not the best camp here. I highly recommend checking out Dark Hollow!

Great place to stay. Danny gave me a tour of the campground when we arrived and made a few suggestions on things to do. The campground was clean and the amenities all worked very well. The hiking trails were steep but clear and easy to follow. The creek itself was beautiful and the views were great. It was less than 3 feet deep in most of the pools and had multiple small waterfalls along it. Highly recommended

We were passing by on a drive from Virginia to Louisiana and stopped for a night in our pop-up truck camper. We met Thomas who was clearing brush. He explained that the site was formerly used as a off road motosports camp and that he had just removed the last permanent camper. He has a vision and is working hard to fulfill it. Nice setting but be aware that trains pass nearby. Being deep sleepers we were awakened but were immediately back to sleep. We woke up early and were quickly back on the interstate heading south.

This location was perfect for staying near Cloudland Canyon for hiking. It was quiet enough for me though the owner mentioned sometimes the animals are loud. I would rather hear animals over humans in a noisy campground any day so I wasn't bothered by them. I enjoyed the animals free roaming around my tent because they will come up and let you pet them. All were so sweet. The owner was awesome and let me help feed the baby cow one afternoon so I was beyond happy with my stay on the farm.

This is our second time staying with our kids, we absolutely love it! We are not outdoorsy people, and this is super convenient and fun. There is a real bathroom, and you’re literally sleeping with the farm animals. Our kids had such a blast and talk about it all the time. They were even able to bottle feed a baby cow!
