Nestled atop Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia, Ragged Oak Farm Campground offers a quiet, rustic place to slow down and settle in. Located just a quarter mile from the Durham Mine Trailhead—which connects to the Five Points Trails and the River to Clouds Route—our small campground is ideal for mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, equestrians, tent campers, and van travelers looking to turn a few hours on the trail into an overnight stay. Our sites are set alongside a working farm, where the rhythms of daily life are part of the experience. While there are neighboring homes nearby, the surrounding area is generally quiet and rural, making it a peaceful place to unplug, linger by the fire, and enjoy unhurried time outdoors. Limited horse boarding is coming soon for those traveling with horses, with easy access to equestrian-friendly trails. Families are welcome here. Kids especially love exploring and playing beneath a giant old holly tree in the campground, and the nearby Durham Mine Trails include several kid-friendly options—some wide and smooth enough for certain running strollers. For even more family adventure, Cloudland Canyon State Park is just a short drive away and offers a couple of playgrounds along with additional hiking opportunities. Though the setting feels remote, we’re conveniently located within a 10-minute drive of Canyon Grill and Lookout Mountain Pizza Company, and just 30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga.Perched at the end of the gravel drive, this relatively flat van site sits atop the gentle hill at the entrance to the campground and is ideal for small camper vans. From here, you’ll enjoy open views of rolling pastures and our barn (currently under construction). A stand of young pine trees borders one side of the site, offering a sense of privacy, while neighboring homes across the street remain visible. Potable water is conveniently located just a few steps away. Please note that there is currently no bathroom access, so guests should plan to be fully self-contained. As with all the sites, the Durham Mine Trailhead is easily accessible via a quarter mile ride/walk down Durham Road.
