On the dock you’ll find two kayaks and two paddle boards available for your use. The paddle boards are equipped with anchors so you can stop and swim in the clear, deep water of weed-free Breaky’s Bay. We have life-jackets available. Explore the 2.5 km of cleared trails through forest, wetland, and meadow. Heron’s Run is named after the beautiful Great Blue Herons that fly through the property and often land on the dock. Wolfe Island is recognized by BirdLife in Canada as an important bird area. Large numbers of several waterfowl species congregate here during the spring migration. Bald eagles, osprey, hawks, owls, and many songbirds can be seen around the property. Heron’s Run is a free, 20-minute ferry ride from Kingston, ON. The ferry runs on a 60-minute service most of the day with an extra 30 minute break over lunchtime. Please be aware that the lineup for the ferry can be busy during the summer, especially on Fridays and Sundays. Be prepared to line up at least one hour before the ferry departure time. You can park your car in line and walk to the shops and restaurants of downtown Kingston until about 15 minutes before your ferry departure time. The kitchen is stocked with basic pantry items including tea, coffee, sugar, honey, milk, cream, sugar, butter, salt and pepper, olive oil, and vinegar. Homemade sourdough bread, granola, fresh eggs, local preserves, coffee, and tea are included for breakfast. Full cooked breakfast, picnic lunch, dinner, or extra provisions can be provided by prior arrangement. Things to do during your stay: Drive to Big Sandy Bay – a hidden gem of a beach at the end of a 1.5 km trail. Just ask and we can provide you with packable beach chairs. We are located on the Wolfe Island cycling route. There are bicycles available for rent in Marysville. Take the free ferry to Kingston and enjoy the many restaurants and shops in the city’s historic downtown. We recommend leaving your car behind (there’s a parking lot at the island dock) and walking onto the ferry. This will eliminate wait times on both legs of your journey. Drive to the shops in the quaint village of Marysville, home to local artisans at Fishtale Shop and the Wolfe Island Art Gallery and Craft shop. You can purchase basic groceries, meats, vegetables, and liquor at Fargo’s General Store, which has an LCBO outlet. On Saturday mornings, stroll the Wolfe Island Farmer’s market in the village, open from 9 am to 12:30 pm Enjoy dinner, drinks, and live music on the patio at the Hotel in the village, or join the locals at The WIPP (Wolfe Island Pizzeria and Pub).
