I'm not sure our actual RV motorhome would have fit getting in and out of the location. We were in our Tesla so it worked. Maybe I didn't read the instructions but I was surprised to get there and find there is an extra charge to plug in to use the electric service. Bathroom facility is a porta-potty behind the barn.

This site is nestled into a little hillside neighborhood, but very peaceful and quiet. The location was easy to access/find, the setup was convenient, and the view was great.

Wonderful few days of camping!

What a lovely place for camping! It was our first time here, and the views were amazing from our campsite. The sound of the creek was wonderful to listen to. We watched fireflies at night and looked at the stars while enjoying a campfire. Campsite #2 was right up the hill, and they were wagons to transport gear. It was a short 15 min drive to Boone and within an hour drive of the best hikes, waterfalls, and all. Would love to be back!

The site was beautiful! It had an amazing view of the mountains and the sunset. we had such a nice time and it is right by a beautiful creek. there is a perfect place for a hammock too. Host was so nice and responsive too. Thank you so much!

I think the site is great and I had a good night both times. Michael was helpful as he offered to help me with my things and asked if I needed anything in terms of if I forgot something. He brought me a pot of water to boil! I just simply wouldn’t bring the rescue dog to meet anyone. I love animals and so for me I was not afraid at all. But when you have a large dog, bearing his teeth at you and growling that can intimidate some people, so I just wouldn’t bring the dog to meet your guests.

Michael was very personable. He greeted me when I got there and was setting up camp. In addition to that, he also helped me set up my tent. I would definitely stay there again. They even have wagons to help you unload and walk to the site. Also, at night, the fireflies are fantastic, it’s your own little light show.

Sweet set up, just like the pictures. We didn't need it, but there actually is an electric hook up there for an additional charge. Be sure to let them know in advance if you will need water.

You could not ask for prettier views than you get from here. I watched the sunset over the mountains from my tent—gorgeous! But as others have mentioned, getting from the parking spot at the bottom of the hill up to the place you get those views is not the easiest trek. Especially if you’re car camping and your gear isn’t the lightest. Or have 3 dogs with you. The host does provide cargo wagons, which helps, but it is something to consider. That being said, once you’re up there and settled in it’s just lovely. I listened to the stream burbling in the background and heard a grouse (I think?) during the evening. Traveling with my circumstances I wouldn’t stay here again but if it was just me and I was lighter-equipped, absolutely would recamp at Loafers Joy.

Great view with beautiful sunsets, nice and quiet. Centrally located to fun towns nearby. We ended up in Damascus for the Trail festival with parade of Appalachian hikers from a years past. Very fun!

Michael's campgrounds were extremely beautiful, your tents overlook this amazing mountain view while you are right next to a small stream. Its often very quiet which makes it easy to sleep and is good for star gazing at night with a telescope, mind you there is a little light pollution from the surrounding owned properties, but besides that very good for looking at the stars. We stayed here to hike the Daniel Boone Trail up Grandfather Mountain. Michael was a very cool guy and a great host. 10/10, would recommend! (Make sure to watch out for little thorny weeds/plants on your walk up the hill to the campground because there are some sprinkled every now and then)

Michael’s site was easy to find and he was super helpful. We are traveling in February with unpredictable weather. Michael communicated with us about road conditions and even sent us some photos of the site a couple days before we arrived as it had recently snowed. The site was absolutely beautiful. Would definitely recommend!

No water for the weekend

Our stay here four years ago was great, so when we decide to get away to Boone for a last minute getaway, we booked here. Very last minute, but a days notice, which we’ve done lots of places. I messaged our arrival time, but didn’t hear anything back. When we got there, we paid for electric, hooked up electric (which worked), hooked up water, and got nothing! So I messaged Michael about the water, and heard nothing for the whole weekend! It’s winter, so we are used unhooking water at night (we cold camp and dry camp more often than not) but having it during the day. Well we had no water for the whole weekend and Michael never replied to our message. It looked like there were people at home at the all the surrounding houses but were not sure which owned the site and didn’t want to knock on doors. Maybe the water was frozen but the not replying to messages was not acceptable. Not sure what happened but removing this place from our favorites unfortunately.

For the price, the site is okay. However, you’re right next to another campsite with almost nothing in between, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for privacy. It’s also not the most accessible—you have to haul all your gear up a pretty steep, long hill, though they do provide carts to make it easier. Additionally, the campsite itself is on a slight incline, which can make sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Overall, the campsite is good if you have minimal items, like if you’re backpacking and just need a place to crash. But if you have a group of people with a lot of gear, I’d recommend finding another place to stay.

Wow! Such a beautiful place! Views are stunning! Great location, close to Boone and Banner elk, also to Grandfather mountain. Easy to access a campsite. Mike is a great and friendly host ❤️ We had a beautiful time. Definitely recommend this place, for peaceful stay with amazing views and being close to towns and amazing Grandfather mountains

I needed a place to crash for the night at a decent price, and this was that. I came in late after a concert, and the sites were easy to find, even in the dark. There are motion lights down by the parking/porta potty area, which was nice. I did hear 8-10 gunshots (probably rifles) in the morning, between 8:00-8:45am. Not close enough to be threatening, but not far enough away to sleep through.
