Two level grass pads partially shaded under the trees with fire pits. Access is by path up from the old tobacco barn. Great views. Listen to the peaceful sound of the adjacent small creek. There are also trees nearby for hammocks. About a 15 minute drive to Boone. **Please Note: The sites are approximately 500 feet from the parking area, so campers must walk to the site.*

I personally always enjoy being at this site, and am listing my response as “mixed feelings” because there are a couple points you’ll want to consider before booking it: 1)the closeness of site 1 & site 2; 2)the potholes in the road coming up. After the rains, one of them is as deep and wide as a small children’s swimming pool, and many others are cause for concern in a low clearance vehicle.

As mentioned, I enjoy the site and will be back, but cannot 100% recommend it without reservations. You will decide based on your own needs and preferences- for me, it’s great due to the close commute into town and the price.

The site is a short walk from where you park but it is uphill so if you’re not in shape this is not the site for you.
The two sites are so close to each other that for the price, I would consider renting out both sites for total privacy.

We loved our trip! The campsites were easy to access and beautiful! The firewood was also a super convenient and nice touch!

The mountain view is stunning, but the 2 sites are EXTREMELY close together. Also, be prepared to walk up a fairly steep hill to get to camp.

It’s my third time here- a perfect short jaunt for anyone living in Boone who needs to camp. I enjoy the sounds of the brook and the amazing view of the mountains from site 2. It was raining the entire time and was very peaceful. You might appreciate knowing that there is a house visible behind the site, and I imagine it will be more so in the winter. Although it’s not super secluded, it is relaxing, and the ports potty has always been odor free. Look forward to coming back!

I loved tent camping out here - so peaceful and beautiful. I’d definitely recommend to a friend! Firewood is sold for $7 and a porter potty on-site,
so convenient! The campsites are very close together so if you have buddies you want to go with I would grab both. Also, awesome spot to bring dogs - wide open area for them to play safely!

We really enjoyed camping here! We took the back way into the site the first time, the route was extremely winding, but the views from the road were incredible! The site was easy to find, and the walk to the site wasn't bad but just a warning it is all up hill so just be prepared. The view from the campsite is absolutely beautiful and the portapotty, water, and firewood for sale is super convenient! The 2 sites are pretty close together so if you're looking to be very secluded from others, if there's another camper you'll be able to hear and see each other, but our camp neighbors were very quiet and respectful so it wasn't any problem. 10/10 would come back, maybe next time with friends so we can book both sites and make a full weekend out of it!

It’s my second time here and was just what my soul needed. I’d be very happy to come back here, even as a solo female camper. I did get a little spooked when something that sounded like a coyote barked several times just outside the tent at midnight - there had been barking and howling in the distance, too (these were not dogs) - and sat in the car for about an hour before going back up. Campers are going to want to bring a pair of shoes for walking through the grass at night and early morning (to a very clean Porta John) and a set of good lights, like a small camping lantern, headlight, and penlight, for the night. I only regret not being able to get here earlier- the sunset behind the mountains is very spectacular. I’m hoping to come back again soon. The one change I noticed is that the two fire pits have been switched, so the smaller white one (with tray for cooking) is now at site 2 and the deeper fire pit is at site 1. I imagine this might have to do with the nearby trees.

Early morning fog/mist rising from the mountain.Sunset view after barely getting tent set up in time! This is the view from the tent, too.
