As a RV Park it was reasonably well kept and served its purpose of providing a quiet and safe place to sleep for the night. The woman who checked us in was very welcoming and gave us suggestions of local restaurants if we chose to eat out. We have a self contained vehicle so can’t comment about any of the facilities and it was raining so we stayed put in our van.

The location and views at this campground are excellent - right outside the National Park and beautiful views from every campsite. Staff was friendly and sites were easy to pull in and out of. Was not impressed with the the showers - mays were moldy, water pressure low and drainage in shower not great.

The campground is conveniently located next to the Badlands entrance. It’s definitely better than parking on the pavement drive of the NP campground. My disappointment was in the conditions in the bathroom/shower. Black mildew adorned the aging shower curtains, and increased the yuk factor. The bathroom itself seemed ok.

This is the first of two extensions at this HipCamp. It’s AMAZING and exactly our cup of tea. Lynn and her husband are wonderful human beings who love where they live and love hosting visitors - it shows in everything they have done to welcome guests at Rustic Rendezvous. This place is perfect for us because we want something that we can have all to ourselves and not have to see other travelers/campers or guests. We also want something away from busy main streets, freeways and towns. And we also want at least a toilet, and anything else after that is an added bonus.

Easy to find. Great directions. Exactly as pictured and described. A quaint spot on picturesque land. The cement pad is perfect for parking our adventure bikes. The dirt road off the highway isn’t difficult or long. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN DRIVING - lots of deer live in these parts and we saw so many cute fawns that still had their spots. The flush toilet, sink, shower, table, chairs, electricity, potable water, microwave, wildlife (lots of deer, turkeys and other birds), and good distance from major freeways and off the beaten path made this the perfect base camp to visit all the local South Dakota attractions and not have to worry about where we would sleep after a day on the motorcycles. There’s a perfectly flat spot for our 2-person tent and every night we fall asleep listening to the wonderful sounds of nature (owls, crickets, coyotes, and this time of year the bull elk are bugling - absolutely magical). We loved this place so much, we booked it for two more nights on top of our original reservation. Thank you L & R!!!

This is definitely one of the most beautiful campsites! The views were absolutely stunning! This site is very true to its name— cowboy country! It’s more rugged and very secluded (outside of the other campers)— so come prepared. We saw turkeys and deer. The camp toilet was helpful. There is a single hammock available for resting. The host was very responsive and clear on instructions. She offered directions and tips in advance of our stay and even provided a contact number in case we needed something. It was a fun touch to buy her book ahead of time to connect my kids to the land a little bit too! Quick and easy set up once we got to our spot and the ground was surprisingly not too uncomfortable in spite of being on gravel. We feel it’s best for more experienced campers if you are tent camping.

Your campsite is located about 15 minutes in from SD44, and approximately 45 minutes from Rapid City. You will be driving on a dirt/gravel road to get to us. You may want to put your vehicle in 4wd to get to your site, given the uneven terrain on the dirt road that takes you to your campground. The location is perfect for a quick overnighter, if you're visiting South Dakota's nearby nature sights and parks. Our family lives on the property, and we're happy to help answer any questions or concerns. This is a working farm, and you may see us on the pasture, upgrading and maintaining. When you stay with us, you will get the experience of camping in the middle of nowhere, South Dakota - wild, raw, sometimes windy and rugged. It's an amazing experience to be had - with stunning views and a feeling of freedom that's hard to find in more urbanized locations. While here, you may encounter badgers, coyotes, deer, pronghorn, wild turkeys, frogs/toads, turtles, voles, bull snakes, rattlers, owls, creepy-crawlers - and you may experience annoying mosquitos and flies during the hotter summer season. We have a friendly barn cat, HERO, that may visit you as well. Please don't feed the beasts or approach any wildlife! Would you like to sample our homemade booch (kombucha)? Just ask! As stewards of the land, we're delighted to share this natural sanctuary with you to enjoy. Stargazing on the site can't be beat, and you may even catch a UFO or alien... if you're aligned! This ranch is the home of children's book author Cowgirl Annie. This property is a working Ranch. Some of the campsites are in an abandoned gravel pit so you will be parking on a sandy gravel base. I like to let my guests decide where they want to park. I may have to move guests to a different site than the one they booked depending on what is happening on the ranch or the weather. There are cottonwood stands close by that you can hike through to the river. A wide variety of wildlife live in this area, so no telling what you may see or hear. You will have a big area to yourselves. I have tried to plan areas so you won't be disturbed by other campers. I do not groom hiking trails. You will be at one with nature. You may want to bring bug spray, sometimes the mosquitos and horseflies are bad. Wall Drug and the Badlands National Park are about a twenty-minute drive. Mount Rushmore is about an hour and 15 minutes.

This is just a little triangle of land on the edge of a small town with three full camper hookups. It is a convenient semiprivate location on your way to your destination. We are located “where the Badlands Begin” 20 minutes from the Badlands National Park. We are a tiny spot, 3 campers max, most likely just one possibly two campers, with a few trees, a couple pf picnic tables and a firepit. Kadoka is a safe, quiet, small ranching community. There is a small grocery store on main st. It is open Mon thru Sat from 9 to 6. Main street is also home to the post office, a laundromat and a flower shop. The city bar with on and off sale options is also located on main street. There is a subway and cafe ( the Sunset Grille) both located on the hwy 73 entrance to town. Kadoka has a city park with a swimming pool, covered picnic area and children's playground . The pool is open weekdays June and July. One last thing, Kadoka is a small town with volunteer fire and rescue teams. If there is a fire or car wreck, the siren will go off and continue until the volunteers arrive. It will stop, and you don’t need to do anything. It’s one of those things you get used to when you live here, but is a bit startling if you are not accustomed to it.
