This was a foreclosed property which is being brought back to its glory. We border the Tohono O’odham land with many, many desert hikes and sightseeing trips to take. A truly educational and soul fulfilling experience awaits.Learn more about this land:Sonoran Skies Campground is a quiet, natural desert like campground. We have 6 full hook ups, 5 partial hook ups with water/septic and plenty of space for boondockers to pitch their tent. We are surrounded by desert for hiking and are only 17 miles from the Organ Pipe National Monument. (28 from Sonoita/Mexico). There is a ton of wildlife here and coyotes/wild burros/quail/roadrunners and more can be seen daily. Our campground has about 50 egg laying chickens, 2 roosters and a Turkey named Boudicca (Celtic Warrior Queen). They all love to be held and cuddled. Come experience our vast dark starry skies and our Scottish hospitality. You won’t regret it.

Situated in the "Five Acres" neighborhood on the outskirts of Ajo, this former garage and wood-shop site is a rustic and eccentric place to camp. Located within three miles of the historic Ajo Plaza as well as shopping and other resources, art and music events, and various local attractions.
Bought in 2024, renovations began in 2025 and although hookups are limited, there is a 30amp outlet, some 110 outlets, and one sewer with a splitter that can be shared, although several feet away from campsites. There are some nice views though, and ample water hookups.
Trash pickup is limited, although there are options.
Please also be aware:
Although tent camping is technically allowed, this campground isn't optimized for tent campers unless the party is accompanied by an RV because there currently are no toilets, sinks, or showers available for use on the property.
Nobody under 18 years allowed on the premises (sorry, but property still has some hazards like rusty nails and other potentially unsafe conditions) this is currently an adults only establishment.
Guests and visitors agree that access to the property means you are liable and mindful of potential hazards and to stay out of structures (unless explicit permission is given) and away from junk piles and other potentially dangerous places. Property lines are marked but sometimes not made obvious unless pointed out. Please wander at your own risk and know your boundaries if that applies.
Sorry, but combustible tobacco products like cigarettes and cigars are not to be used outdoors anywhere on or next to the property, and smoke must not be exiting your windows or doors. (It's a major health hazard for the owner.) Basically, smokers are respectfully asked to find another campground. Vaping and chewing tobacco is accepted in addition to smoking herbal products as long as there's permission from camping neighbors...

Reading the reviews for this place you might find folks raving about Joyce and how helpful and nice she is. Well, it’s all true!! It is quite close to the road, but come nightfall, it was quiet and peaceful. Easy to get to, and Ajo is 10 miles down the road. There was a binder set on our colorful picnic table with all there is to do around there! We wished we could have stayed longer to get to know Joyce and hear some of her stories. (We also enjoyed her Scottish accent!😉)

Great camping option
This was a great spot for being close to Organ Pipe National Monument. Unfortunately there was quite a bit of road noise, and the sites were all close together, so not much privacy. But it was clean and safe and the flushing toilet was nice!
